[VIDEOS] "I still have a lot to offer Pakistan cricket" : Ahmed Shehzad

A once very talented batsman who started to score consistently between 2013-2014. It all came crashing down once he got hit on the head by a bouncer from Corey Anderson and things were not the same for him again. He started playing extremely cautiously and played some very good shots but would always find the fielder. His SR started to suffer and his focus on cricket was lost due to social media. I don't think we should bring back such characters again.

No, no you don't bud. He needs a CT scan to check for CTE after Corey Anderson rammed his head 7 years ago.

Always found him to be an odd one after he tried to shame convert Dilshan to Islam in the middle kf

He was very promising during the early days but simply faded away.

Pakistan have much better options now than him.

For those wishing/hoping for him to be back in Pak team, are you mad or you completely bonkers?

This guy is almost the same drama as Akmal with less ability/telent etc.

He can contribute to Pak cricket/team from being far far away from the team is the only way he can help us!

Hater spotted.

Simple fact is that this season in FC he was among the better performers and looked the part.

In PSL there’s a lobby against him which is ensuring that he isn’t selected. Otherwise there’s no reason to take him on. It’s not like we are blessed with local batting talent anyway

Did nothing of note in this years QEA trophy to even warrant consideration for selection. No hundred in 8 innings, languishing at #28 in the run scorers list. Outperformed by many other top order batsman. End of story.

Where is the hate in his post?

"Among better performers and looked the part"? Lol! I'd be surprised if you could convince even yourself with that argument :)))

Buddy, Shehzad isn't that important to have a whole lobby against him.

He is an odd-ball for sure. I think, he became a little too image obsessed after some success and that led to this weird, wannabe and fake personality. Every time he is on TV, it loos like he's trying to be someone he's not.

He did not warrant a place in the team based on his performances in current domestic first class season. He was good in his early days but ruined his career due to attitude and ego. There are lot more options now and i see him the end.

I cant believe he went unsold in PSL. I can name countless average Indian players who played IPL for many seasons but never played for India. How can a former Pak player can't find a place in PSL? Not even considered good enough to warm the bench? Its really surprising. I guess Pak has abundance of talent to pick from. Good luck!

At one point he was being trolled for constantly being in Social Media. However now he has gone the other extreme where he has completely kept a low profile to the point he has completely disappeared from the lime light. The problem is he is also not letting his cricket do the talking i.e. scoring loads of runs i.e. hitting 5-7 centuries in the domestic season or a couple of double centuries.

At one point he was really working hard in the gym and slogging it out and had developed a model lean physique. It looks like he is so demotivated that he has stopped caring about his physical appearance now. All signs that he is resigned to the fact that he might not get a consistent run with the Pakistan team again and that he knows there are better options than him.

Only in Pakistan!

This guy was more talented than Sachin. PCB ruined his career! He could have been our answer to Kohli...

Nasir Jamshed, Ahmed Shehzad, Hafeez, Akmals... Golden days...

I think his career got destroyed because he had no clue what his real strength was. He was actually good in Test Cricket, but he wanted others to see him as aggressive limited overs cricketer. He looked busy on crease, charged bowlers yet scored at pathetic SR in ODIs. His association with Shahid Afraid also negatively impacted his career. He needed a better role model.

Tbh when Afridi was around, he was a regular for Pakistan. Once Afridi left, he no longer was a regular for Pakistan.

He is one of the worst player ever.He has very mediocre stats in all the formats.

He was also one of the least talented player ever.

I m glad he has not been picked up by any franchise.

There was some quality in his batting. He had the ability to play some fantastic shots and good innings and was given a lot of opportunities.

However he was never the same after the ball hit him on the head. It seemed to sap his confidence.

He was too slow in limited overs couldn’t play at a decent strike rate in tests he had potential but would’ve been found out outside Asia.

All in all the potential and talent was limited simply too slow and would get bogged down easily not enough to make an impact at international level.

Pakistan Cup:

Southern Punjab beat Central Punjab by two wickets at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad

Central Punjab 366-7, 50 overs (Ahmed Shehzad 158, Rizwan Hussain 100; Salman Ali Agha 2-22, Khushdil Shah 2-79)

Southern Punjab 367-8, 50 overs (Tayyab Tahir 169, Salman Ali Agha 74, Azam Khan 33, Khushdil Shah 27; Hussain Talat 3-37, Usman Qadir 3-78)

Earlier, after being asked to bat first, centuries from Ahmed Shehzad and Rizwan Hussain helped Central Punjab post 366 for seven in 50 overs. Ahmed struck 20 fours and five sixes during his 127-ball 158 innings.

Good for him, needs many such innings tbh. He missed out the PSL and has really gone under the radar.

He just needs to bat and make runs to stay relevant otherwise his cricket will end very soon.

I wouldn’t mind having Shahzad back in the test format, he was unfairly dropped because of his personal relationship with the coach.

I like the test batsman Ahmed Shehzad. If he scores runs in FC cricket, I will want to see him in the fringe of the test squad. Averages 40 in test cricket with 3 hundreds.

Ahmed Shehzad has always had the technique to play test cricket even after that hit in the head which has taken away the original Ahmed Shehzad.

I think that ship has sailed. He shouldn't and won't be making a comeback. There are many upcoming openers who are doing really well in QeA trophy for the past couple of years. He is not getting ahead of Huraira, Haider, Omair and others. Huraira especially if he has another great season should get the opening slot.

On 30th March, 2014, Ahmed Shehzad became the first Pakistan batter to score a T20I century. The right-handed batter achieved the feat against Bangladesh in the ICC T20 World Cup at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur.

Light year's away from International cricket, he struggles to get selected for PSL and his buddy’s seem have distant themselves.

But with Pakistan cricket you never know.

At one stage he was Pakistans answer to Kohli, what a farce he had his limitations but selectors lobby and some egoistic indvls never allowed him to settle, infact he was also touted as future skipper in all three formats shame how many careers gone down the drain

Do you know who is to blame for Ahmed Shehzad's career?

Ahmed Shehzad.

Ahmed Shehzad.

How? His test average is higher than the captain of Pakistan’s test team.

His performances in LOI didn’t warrant him being dropped from red ball cricket.

His fitness at the time was probably better than anyone else’s in the team.

Ahmed Shehzad scored 60(52) against Larkana Region in National T20 Cup 2023, which helped Lahore Whites secure victory over Larkana by 7 wickets

For a T20 game, that's a really slow innings. Can't be playing at that strike rate in a T20 game if you have any ambitions on playing at any serious level.

He played 13 Test in 4 years average 40 SR 51, away from home

Imam ul Haq has played 22 Tests average 38 SR48 and some of these on the highways of Pindi

A open and shut case of favoritism and nepotism

I want justice for Ahmed Shehzad, an excellent puller and cutter of the red cricket ball.

He should be on the plane to Australia ahead of Mr. Potter, who has weaved a strange magic on his ardent supporters from the region of Peshawar.
