[VIDEOS] "I would like to be known as a genuine all-rounder" : Amad Butt

Good performance today in a high scoring game; good death bowling especially. I feel he is ready for internationals now

Lol.

Keep him as far away as possible from the national team.

Club level.

Second highest wicket taker in National T20 Cup so far.

Has bowled with pace and aggression.

He's been fantastic in this tournament so far. Don't think there's a place for him in the T20I team though, if he has a good PSL then maybe he can push for a national selection. He was in the squad for the T20I match in England in 2016 but didn't make the team.

Guy has perfomred in recent T20.He can be a perfect partner for Shaheen in furure foe all three formats.Need to be brought to NCA.

He has already attended more than 5 Camps at NCA.

T20 is not barrometer for all formats. He has just got accustomed to his modified action. Let him play domestic Cricket and reclaim his spot in the squad by stellar FC and List A performances.

Needs to up his batting again because he is seen as an Allrounder not as a bowler alone.

Thankfully he is improving.

Thanks.I think he had good FC season too.And what about his remodel action? and who did that Waqar?

Well it was NCA + IU stuff. Not sure if Waqar was heading this task or not.

It seems better now since He looked slower last season. In older action his head position while delivering the ball was not right hence he could not target his deliveries properly nor could he keep an eye on the batsman till the last second. It could cause back issues too.

Head position now is much better and he is much stable now.

Let's see his speeds in PSL. He has to outdo Faheem in PSL to have chance because Faheem is better batsman. Faheem is one innings away from showing his real batting potential in Int Cricket and this series will provide him the chance especially in Test arena.

Amad has to wait for his oppurtunity. He is in Supplementary list atm for IU so let's see if he gets the oppurtunity to get into main squad.

He's not getting enough praise for his recent performances. Has really come into his own towards the later stages of QeA.

Take this match for example.

Top scored in first innings with 82 (143), 7 fours and 1 six.

Took 3-21 from 16 overs to help his side secure a 50 run lead.

In the second innings, his side collapsed and he came in at 42-5. Top-scored with 35 (78), hitting only one boundary. These two innings show he has mental toughness and good match awareness; can play his strokes as well as dig in when needed.

Only had 159 to defend. Took 3-17 from 10 overs to help reduce the opposition to 3-3. Ended up losing but was the stand out player.

I have followed him closely on this thread and in QEA trophy.

Doing well for Balochistan vs Sindh - 3 wickets so far

Man of the Match for Balochistan vs Sindh

3/58 and 42*

Fabulous all round performance. Hit 42 off 18 with 3 sixes and taking 3 wickets
good power hitting prospect.

Shame he didn't get more opportunities in PSL- think he could have been useful.

Shame just like spinners we havent tried many pace bowling all rounders in last two years other than Faheem.

These 2 years wasted on Faheem should have been given to Amad. He has decent height and is showing genuine striking ability. Why was he dropped after that sole T20 vs England? He wasn't even given a chance.

31 of 10 balls against Sindh which includes 2 consecutive sixes against the pace of Hasnain.

Ammad Butt exposing stupidity of Pak and Islamabad United selections

Bang Bang Bang and thts some hitting

Ammad Butt and Aamer Yamin already look better all-rounders than the blue-eyed-boy Faheem

Couple of more innings like this and it will be difficult for even a midget like misbah to exclude him

Played the kind of innings Pakistan T20 team was missing during the South African tour

Did anyone noticed, he was striking those Sixes very similar to Razzaq Bhai

Amad Butt 2 wickets so far for Balochistan vs Sindh

Excellent allround performance by Amad- Follows his 31(10) with 3/32 with the ball.

All-rounder Ammad Butt wins Man of the Match for 10-ball 31 runs with bat and three wickets with ball for Balochistan v Sindh

Best bowler on display for Balochistan - 3/23 in 4 overs

There is no excuse now not to pick this guy for AUS tour - T20 definitely, preferably Test as well. PCB has wasted 2+ years behind Faheem for that practice game innings.

That is some clean hitting, against good pace. Should be given a chance. Can't be worse than Faheem.

T20 career - 46 wickets in 30 innings. 17.84 AVG. Economy is fairly high but he does pick up wickets.

138.63 SR in T20 as well and his FC suggests he plays pretty quick too. Certainly someone worth giving a shot instead of trying Faheem again.

Man Of the Match for 29* (14) to see his side to the final

I have said it before too we need Ammad Butt especially in our test line-up.

This guy has genuinely increased his pace in past couple of seasons and can clock 140+ at time. Together with that he can average over 25 with the bat. Now combine this with that positive attitude towards fitness and an eager learner.

Pakistan cricket has sometimes taken really bad steps, exclusion of him is just another one of those from next international season.

He has played a few breathtaking knocks. He should be in consideration for the T20 squads.

He looks like a guy that bowls a hittable pace.

In the past year or two, he's started bowling a lot of variations in T20 cricket. Too many, in my opinion.

Picked up 8 wickets in the National T20 Cup so far. Economy rate is 8.2 which is about par considering how the pacers are faring in general.

Variations are all good and well, but it's his stock ball that he needs to be judged on.

Alwaus rated him as a player, supremely fit and good physique as well Abdullah719.

looks like he's a player who can play all around the ground rather than just towards mid wicket. Good signs.

One team couldn't even get 7 off the last over. He managed to get 18 off the last (22 off the last). Clutch player.

How was he not selected. Misbah should have waited a week more before announcing the t20 squad.

He an be our finisher and can get through a few overs too.

On second thought

building lots of muscles in gym (not bowling) is bad as it messes up those natural flexible muscles in a pacer(his inherent nature gifted fast bowling muscles) . Thus his fast bowling muscles gets rigid due to gym workout. It leads to his muscles getting messed up ------------------> leads to frequent muscle issues..injuries etc

this is what i read over the years though

The core is important for fast bowling and also hitting those big pulls for six. A strong core means you are less likely to get back injuries. I have aback issue too from fast bowling and have been advised to strengthen my core as this will take the stress away from my back while bowling. When the core is weak a pacer will arch his back more to get pace and that is bad for the back.

Shows how poor you are at judging talent.

This guy won't last against anything over 125kph.

Calm down.

Well he did hit Hasnain for two huge sixes.

And how does me rating him make me bad at judging talent. I said this performance shows he can be good under pressure, I didn't say he is Ben Stokes or Imran Khan. You should read the post first. And I do think he should be given a fair shot in the t20I team. He's better than Faheem and he is a big hitter.

What talents do you find good on Pakistan?

I don't rate him because he's a poor bowler. Very hittable.

Batting isn't of the standard that his poor bowling can be ignored. At best Anwar Ali standard batting and bowling.

Anwar Ali is a leg-side slogger, he looks like he's playing baseball. He also couldn't play the short ball.

Ammad Butt has a much wider variety of shots and can play the short ball.

I'm not saying he's suitable for tests, but he definitely deserves a shot at t20Is. I'm not sure about ODIs though.

what surprises me is tht how quickly the PP gurus come and discard everyone .... leg side slogger, hittable, bla bla bla blu blu blu....

Ammad has done enough to get a spot in the team but, given he isnt obviously going to Aus now (unless some1 is injured and he gets the node, his focus should be on PSL and getting in the first XI for ISLU for atleast 80% of the games.

Not sure how the tuk-tuk treats him there.... Fahim's performance with the ball have been good so for the PSL world you cannot complain Fahim playing over him.. maybe he needs to switch teams... Multan n lahore could be good locations for him

Quetta are too reliant on spinners and sarfraz will commit suicide before he lets anwar ali sit on bench (too much Khi local brotherhood there)

Zalmi had pollard who is always going to play as an allrounder and with Wahab getting his hitting going, dont think he can get game there

Khi has Yamin and Munro (he can bowl slow medium dobblers) so doors closed there

Islu will play talat and fahim consistently so -----

Lahore and Multan are teams who can use him well... esp lahore (multan might want to try hammad azam )

with lahore, him batting at no5/6 could be great as Qalandars always have issues finishing the game...

It's funny when they tell you you have no eye for talent and don't know the game. Half the time the people that say that have only ever played tapeball cricket and want Rahat Ali in the team.

most of these guys are always shouting about how the great talent umar akmal was and when he is a proven failure on international level ....

what is more important is how the player takes pressure of international cricket.... tht attitude and hard work post selection is what is more important... when we see likes of umar akmal , hassan ali, shadab khan and ahmad shahzad losing their skin thinking they r super stars and not improving , it just kills us

hopefully these guys can continue to improve and stay on the ground rather than just showing off
