[VIDEOS] "I would like to be known as a genuine all-rounder" : Amad Butt

Finally looks like he is back in form.

3-44 when SNGPL scores 284.

I hope, wish & pray that he impresses in the final as well and hopefully selectors are there.

Will the final be televised by PTV SPORTS ?

He should be in the test team vs West Indies:

1. Azhar Ali
2. Sami Aslam
3. Babar Azam
4. Usman Salahuddin
5. Asad Shafiq
6. Sarfaraz
7. Amad Butt
8. Yasir Shah
9. Amir
10. Hassan Ali
11. Mir Hamza

12. Sharjeel Khan
13. Asghar
14. Fakhar Zaman
15. Imran Khan

Ammad has a technical issue of his torso falling forward before delivery. Not only does he lose pace because there is no chest drive, he's going to injure himself if he continues to rely on contraction.

Got hit all over the park today. Is he just another case of PP overhyping him as the next Abdul Razzaq?

I've maintained that the way he's hyped up by some, and from what I've seen of him, he's just another Nawaz-type product of the pp hype machine.

I saw him in the domestic tournament, was live on PTV, and batting against pretty poor bowlers - looked like a tailender.

Bowling was rubbish today but I'm willing to give him more chances in the PSL.

I called out Nawaz in PSL 1, let's see if Butt can impress.

I don't mind him being wayward, but he was bowling around the 135 mark.

You can't be doing that at 135.

Let's see what he does from here on in.

Some people on pakpassion were in tears when he was omitted in the T20 against England in favour of Wahab Riaz. Based on what we saw today from him, I am glad he is not yet in the national squad. Terrible showing!!!

I don't care if he bowls at 100 kph and is a worse bat than Chris Martin, you don't fly a player from Pakistan to England for one match to make him warm the bench. Don't bother calling him up if you won't play him.

If you were expecting the second coming of Imran Khan in his very first match then you were only setting yourself up for failure.

Ammad recovered very well after the horrendous first over.

The hype he was receiving here clearly gave the impression that he was some messianic saviour of Pakistan cricket

The problem is that he is again in that mid 130's range.

It is unbelievable that all our bowling prospects are in this range and all our batting prospects are unable to clear the circle.

What has happened to pace and big hitting? Where did that disappear? We were natural at these things when they weren't even in fashion but this is just downright saddening.

He touched 140 kph a few times in his second over...

May not have impressed a lot but I definitely see some potential to be worked with here. India will do what they can to build up the confidence of hardik pandya and Ben Stokes is by no means a 145kph Bowler. It's all about trying to make something out of the boy instead of writing him off so early.

He's a decent looking lad as well, Pakistan could do well in building up their fan base with Athletes like him.

He looks like a gentle medium pacer, with some very good references, don't see him playing at all for Pakistan... some of these players how they can get in the team is beyond me.. such a poor bowler

Wasim Akram was saying he was the allrounder we need in the side after our poor showing in ODIs.... Wasim Bhai kia hogaya hai aapko ??

Experts writing him off after 2 overs in a T20 match when he was bowling to set batsmen.

Saj Bhai he looks nothing a fast bowler... where's the pace? He was bowling gentle high 120ers

He was the only "prospect" on display today, and he hasnt impressed so far.

On the bright side 35 yr old Kamran Akmal may get back into the squad ;)

Sometimes you see something that makes you think that a player has a future but i saw no such promise from the young bowler. But like many, i am also too quick to judge.

He also looked too skinny to be a fast bowler... like he looks smaller than the average cricketer.. like his built wasn't atheletic

Big Mac

He was touted as being a 140+ bowler, hence my disappointment.

At 135 pace, he also bowls quite wayward and that is the most disappointing aspect about him.

Ofc, I'm not writing him off completely and he does deserve more games to prove himself.

Never believe anything you hear about an uncapped player until you see him play for yourself. They're all hyped up as world class talents by one person or another just to create another way to criticise the selectors/captain/coaches etc

Believing the hype just leads to disappointment, and a decent young player gets written off because they're not the next coming of Viv Richards or Malcolm Marshall as the supposed PP experts would have you believe.

I agree, had way too much expectations from him (after the hype).

Lesson learnt and will expect less from the younger guys.

Yes frame this in gold.

Remember that thread about Rafatullah Mohmand being the one to win the T20 world cup for Pakistan? Gosh that was an embarrasment.

his bowling wasnt that bad. Compared to junaid and co he did ok once he got his line right. Needs to up his pace to be successful though..

This guy has some real batting technique. yes, he didnt impress yesterday but if given the chance at 6/7; can def finish a game. has proper technique. might not be a t20 specialist but the seaming all rounder we need in odi. havent seen him bowl much though...

This guy too plays with straight bat. Good physique too. He can be a 140+ fast bowling all-rounder but he needs to learn line and length and use some brains.

Physique was never a criteria for bowling fast.. if that were the case alot of well built fast bowlers from Srilanka and WI will be bowling pace... you either have pace or you don't, thats got to do more with arm speed and bowling muscles only, i.e the rotator cuff muscles mostly and the deltoid

He has technical issues with his bowling rather than brain issue. This is why he struggled in last FC tournament aswell. He was quicker and much better in Pakistan Cup and had a great debut FC season aswell.

Excellent all-round performance in round 4 of QeA vs Karachi Whites (only his 2nd FC game this season):

Batting:

1st innings: scored 63 (team was bowled out for 137)
2nd innings: scored 55 (team was bowled out for 191)

Bowling:

1st innings: 14-2-46-2
2nd innings: 3-0-11-1

He has much more potential than Hammad Azam or Aamer Yamin.

But he's not going to develop playing domestic cricket. He needs to be in the international squad to bat and bowl against the best in the nets, with the best coaches around.

He is playing for IU in the PSL, so hopefully that helps brings him into the fold. Mushtaq Ahmed in a recent interview did mention they are keeping an eye on him, so if he keeps putting in performances I am sure he will get his chance.

How would you rate him compared to the likes of Hussain Talat and Fahim Ashraf?

His problem is that his torso contracts before the ball is delivered. Subsequently, losing pace and putting unnecessary strain on the body. Domestic coaches in an attempt to rectify this issue have completely ruined his action, he's more side on now but his arms are all over the place.

Hussain Talat is a batting all-rounder so can't really compare them much. Ammad and Fahim have similar potential with the bat, but Ammad is far superior with the ball.

Unfortunately I don't believe our system can groom Ammad as he's very, very raw.

Good all round performance from Amad Butt, about time as he wasn't doing anything noteworthy for quite a while. Hopefully he's back to his best.

Yes, I remember Chief Destroyer saying something similar.

Regarding coaching, his best hope is PSL.

As Usual once again he played Gun knocks under pressure just like his debut FC season. (MENTAL Toughness)

He needs to name the person who destroyed his action otherwise He would have played for Pak by now. Slowed down, Ave, SR dipped. Shame.

Amad Butt carries on his good bowling form with 5-26 against KRL.

babajee that thread has closed, but you asked me whether he in a similar mould to Woakes. It's an interesting comparison, with the right work Butt has a higher ceiling that Woakes as he gets more movement etc.

6-106 for Amad butt today in QeA super 8's.... The guy is slowly but surely getting there

Guy did wel.

Hopefully he can find some form with the bat as well because he is still behind the likes of Ashraf and Yamin for the all rounder slot.

Today he scored 82 off 143 balls. It will be good for him if he takes a lot of wickets in this match too

I think Amad Butt is better bowler than Yamin and Fahim. Need to improve his batting more and develop some severe power hitting, surely a future prospect.

I've said "raw" about Amad for too long, needs to come up with substantial performances and he's showing signs of that, needs a good PSL campaign and he can give Fahim's spot a run.

He's not getting enough praise for his recent performances. Has really come into his own towards the later stages of QeA.

Take this match for example.

Top scored in first innings with 82 (143), 7 fours and 1 six.

Took 3-21 from 16 overs to help his side secure a 50 run lead.

In the second innings, his side collapsed and he came in at 42-5. Top-scored with 35 (78), hitting only one boundary. These two innings show he has mental toughness and good match awareness; can play his strokes as well as dig in when needed.

Only had 159 to defend. Took 3-17 from 10 overs to help reduce the opposition to 3-3. Ended up losing but was the stand out player.

Amad Butt played an important role today in a thrilling victory for HBL against KRL. 4-32 including the winning wicket as HBL defend 212 by just 6 runs (which is the amount of runs he scored with the bat :ashwin). He also got out Jahid Ali which was a key wicket as he was on 73 going nicely. Seems like he is becoming more of a bowler though than a genuine all rounder.

Remember how this guy's pic was going around here on PP as hailed as the first Pakistani player to have a six pack :P :))

Another great performance from six pack boy today. Batting at 5 he scored 59 off 72 balls. He then took 3-40 from 9 overs as HBL successfully defended 238.

Got clobbered by Gul and Pollard today. Clearly not too strong in pressure situations.

So his Fastest delivery yesterday was 139 kph ?

Remodelled action looks more refined now. Let's see his speed aswell as line and length consistency.

When he impressed Inzamam an year ago than as per my analysis He was bowling mostly in 137 to 144 kph range. Than he remodelled his action and looked slower in last domestic televised event and now his action looks slightly refined.

Would keep an eye.

Continuing where he left off in FC cricket it seems:

First round vs Islamabad: Amad Butt: 2-53 (17.3) and 3-35 (13).

The fact this guy is not even in the national squad speaks volumes about Pakistan’s bowling depths.

Would a great option for the Pakistan team. Would like to see him in the Inzi pool of players for world cup next year.

Second round vs Peshawar so far:

Came in at 155-6 with very little batting to come and scored a 44 ball 46 (seven fours and one six) to help his side post a respectable score.

Let's see what he does in the rest of the match.
