I see this on PCB's social media:

Also as per a report:

Skipper Babar Azam was awarded "Player of the Week"

Saud Shakeel was named "Impact Player of the Match" for his 68-run knock against the Dutch in Hyderabad.

Saud made his presence felt and grabbed that award on the first attempt. Babar as usual the Player of the week. nOthin new with Babar but Saud is the one I am impressed with.

But what's the point of trophies etc after every game. Why not just praise them in a closed door situation and move on.

yeah, this is where they should put more focus on. There is no point celebrating after every game. But appreciation is always handy.

Delhi Capitals used to do this after every match but instead of a trophy Ponting used tp give a medal or coin. Will PCB hand out these trophies even for matches where they lose heavily like teh Asia Cup match against Pakistan? I think Saud deserved it as he scored a 32 ball 50 in his debut WC match which will do a world og good to his confidence.

Babar Azam receiving the Player of the Week...and we just played one game! Why?

Perspectives is important,

In one viewpoint its viewed as cringe and overdoing it

In another view, it gives players positivity, confidence, which possibly negates the over the top hate, criticism , Pakistan players face.

And then there are probably like dozens of other views lol

I was very disappointed to see a can of full fat Coca Cola on the table during this footage.

Simply put, you would not catch any serious athlete consuming these nutritionally empty beverages at any point of their playing careers.

Let alone during their World Cup.

India are very fortunate to have Kohli take the lead on what appropriate fitness and discipline should look like. He has transformed their generation of cricketers.

Meanwhile half our players still have fat bellies.

It’s the lack of understanding of the fine margins of fitness and nutrition which is holding the team back for really no good reason other than ignorance.

About useless as the number 1 ODI ranking.

There is a thread on this topic I created on PP. What is funny is that many of the members were supporting these dietary habits. Lol

It's fine to praise players in camera - no need to make dressing room stuff public and do all this.
Player of the week concept is just silly. Then to give it to the captain is even more cringe.

Their vision is too big.
Some people just acting less confident right now. Come on , show some belief in the greens

I think it is okay to praise the player but to make every dressing room moment public is kind of awkward.

@MenInG @Saj

I think this is becoming a norm in dressing room however the cringe thing here is the trophy being so big.

Bharat dressing room is also giving out these little awards now, last night they gave Virat Kohli the fielder of the match medal. I think medal sounds good to me. It’s an appreciation and sets a culture in the team. This is very common in sports.

But those trophies are way too big.
The only trophy that should matter should be the world cup trophy

This is what I’m talking about.

Man, these dressing room videos are becoming cringy with every passing day. Just keep some secrecy here and let them enjoy with each other. Not everything is worth uploading in my opinion.

No. They have not. This is a way to build team culture and bonding.. Like we see today in all corporate environments.
World Cup is a high pressure scenario for players.. and there needs to some fun moments in the team members.
Putting it on social media.. well debatable but we live in the age of being online and digital foot prints and what not.
Even us debating this thing here is on social media.

Really good move by PCB and Team management to keep the boys in light mood.

I agree without

It's modern day corporate thing to appreciate team members' effort. Very good practice which we follow.

For ex - we recognize good effort during a sprint and mention the member, however announcement remains limited within the team itself (7-20 members)

Quarterly awards are announced at org level (200+ members).

We won a game against an associate, a minnow. I mean come on raise the standards please!

On second thoughts maybe Mickey knows these 5 year olds all too well. I think the message is:

Don’t worry, even if you lose, we can still have celebrations and cut cakes, so please get rid of the fear of failure!

Masterstroke

Or am I reading too much in to this?!

Appreciation such as 'Impact Player' and 'Player of the Week' is fine but please do not hand over trophies or cups for these titles. It goes out of proportions and becomes a laughing stock when team goes through a drubbing. I do not believe why PCB and fans still do not understand the value of staying humble and focused.

I’m guessing they’ve consulted a psychologist about this and this isn’t some brainwave out of nowhere.

That being said there’s just no need to display this publicly.

I am curious

Have PCB flown in with what 9 trophies (at least)

Also will they award even when Pakistan lose?
:D:D

Impact Player trophy will awarded only in the wins.

But extending your thought...
8 more group matches to go, then 1 semi final and the final.
If Pakistan wins all the matches, PCB would have flown in 11 "Impact Player" trophies.

Six more weeks to go .... at least six more "Player of the week" Trophies will be needed.

So a total of 18 trophies would have been sent to India and then of course player bringing those trophies back.

Way to go PCB!!!

I don't mind these little trophies to let a player know their appreciated, a trophy will do wonders for saud

My issue is reward these trophies on merit. Giving a trophy to babar for no reason just feed into his ego lol

Impact player yesterday was Abdullah. Rizwan can get the hard worker award

Bhai, don’t become that guy who embarrasses himself in every other post.

Humiliation can become a habit. If you start not to feel shame over making ridiculous threads/posts then that’s a bad place to be in.

Every true Pakistani will be cherishing and celebrating Rizwan’s knock. Put the ego aside and do the same.

Yes sir. I’ve praised his knock a few times anyway - I don’t need to in every thread.

The problem is -you guys aren’t satisfied. I didnt even say anything bad in this thread. Abdullah was the impact player, Rizwan the hard worker. What’s wrong with hard work? How is that an insult?

If you’re so touchy and sensitive, I can’t help you.

I think we should be concentrating on the fact that did pcb pack 9 trophies in mickey arthurs luggage?

And if we pkay the semi and final, will pcb deliver the trophies on time or not?

Yaar, I am missing these videos since past 3 matches. They were fun. Even Indian team puts out such videos after every match. Wonder when they will continue these videos.

Not that I agree with this award thing but I think Wasim Jr should have got it. He bowled very well in last 2 matches and it would do wonders for his confidence
