We use the word talented alot on this forum but how gifted is this bloke .
Can bowl 140 ks easily and has an inctedible hand eye coordination , runs like a sprinter .
Imagine him in a good system , i think he is naturally as gifted as any cricketer i have seen .
In a good system he would have developed into a test match super star .

he's superb athelte rather then a talented cricketer imo

strong, fast and great hand eye coordination but no outrageous skill

I think all that equates to natural talent.
Technique and other details are acquired in a good system

well put it this way , inzi was slow and overweight yet is a far greater player then russel

a better comparison perhaps is stokes and Russel, id say Stokes has abundance of talent, swings the bowl, and is a fine batsman rather then a just a striker

He is also better than Gayle because he can play in pressure situations, unlike Gayle who only plays in meaningless matches.

Seriously?

He bowls 145+, is one of the most outrageous hitters in the game, runs at Usain Bolt speed and is an amazing boundary fielder.

He is criminally under-rated.

to erratic with the bowl, doesn't swing it and with the bat he is great lower oder hitter no doubt but not much more - a great limited overs player but not something completely unbelievable

as i said earlier stokes is a far more talented cricket

He needs to improve his bowling.

Good pace but his death bowling is too wayward.

He does have potential but has to play longer formats to develop more.

All I ever see him play is slog cricket which can only take you so far.

Be ready for a Gaylestorm in the final...

Although really happy for india losing still if one has to look objectively. Saw this guy play for Islamabad United, this guy definitely is great talent & power hitter. But not to be taken too seriously when it comes to ODI, Tests.

Yeah i saw that live.
Richards expression was priceless. :))
Andre is such brute. Never thought the ball would go that far. But boy how well he connected. :afridi

In his post match interview he reckoned he had hit it around 120metres.

Proper massive hit. Definition of a super power packed player, this guy is. on a flat wicket, there isn't much out there can make it look so easy like him.

The expression needs to be made into a permanent gif or emoticon for this forum haha, it is a classic!

His superb , his is underrated
I always loved him and rated him every since he smoked us in 2015 WC in Nz...he hits the bowl as hard as any body can..his bowling is very good can bowl 140+ easily ...his fielding is as good as it gets...he is a true match winner...arguably the best AR in LOs Currently (stokes will have a thing or two to say but Stokes is best in Test..and Russell in Limited overs)

His six vs Pandya looked 130 m TBH

He's a player tailor made for T20 format. He is very athletic quick good in the field. Decent bowler can bowl it 140ks has some good variations yorkers as well. And he is a brutish hitter who can destroy any attack on his day.

Your IQ is probably half of that :yk. That was max 105 Metres. Wanhkhede is a small ground and the stands are built very closely to the boundary line.

Supremely talented. More importantly, he is more reliable than the likes of Pollard and may be Gayle.

Gayle can make 100+ when he gets going, but when he fails, he makes like 8 from 14.

Russell seems to always make a brisk start, so even if he fails, doesnt hurt the team too much.

He was man of the series in last IPL, which is no mean feat.

I always enjoy watching him play for KKR and other t20 leagues around the world..... would have been a gr8 alrounder if he is nurtured proprly....

That six is definitely 105plus....can be more too....

Google maps measurements are usually pretty accurate and it says the distance from the batting crease to the outermost piece of that stand is about 110m so I think the measured distance was about right.

"It's been very hard, very tough to be fully fit and not injured yet still unable to play the game. At the end of the day, when you do the crime, you have to do the time"

"I have nets at home and a bowling machine. I have guys that feed balls to me and make sure i'm in good shape"

"Being out of the game taught me alot. Watching all sorts of cricket helped me to understand the game even more because the best player sometimes is the spectator. I've learned alot and that's why i contributed a lot for Jamaica in the recent super 50"

"I've made sure that I implement what i've learned in the past couple of months into my game and I hope it continues till the end of my career"

"I don't like to set big goals but I always look to do well and get wickets and contribute to my team. I always look to make alot of runs and maybe even take a brilliant catch in the field"

"Getting run-outs is a bonus.I always set goals in my head but I don't like to say it because if i say I want to get 50 wickets and I don't achieve it then it's gonna make me look bad"

Lottery performer .On his day devastating or on his off day devastated😆

That is easily the greatest ever performance in a T20 ever

Top performer in this format. Unlike Gayle he is a top athlete too.

Him not playing international cricket is honestly one of the biggest tradegies in cricket.

He’s always had the potential to be the best all rounder of our time.

He’s better than stokes that’s for sure.

Potential doesnt mean anything Results and substance is what defines the quality of players and in that respect the likes of stokes who has scored test hundreds and took test wickets home and away is way ahead than Andre Russell

Ofcourse.

I just think that he has the ability to be a world class test all rounder. Whether he would actually be able to deliver is a different question and would be based on how he actually applies his skills to intl cricket.

But one thing is for sure is that he’s definetly more talented, skillful and more athletic than Ben Stokes. Russel can bowl at 90MPH and is also one of the best strikers in the world.

Who?

A guy who is 30 years old and has a Test batting average of 2.00 and a bowling average of 104.00 runs per wicket!

Played one test match and I don't blame him for that given how WICB treats their players.

There athleticism is same.
Russell is more skillfull & talented for limited overs cricket.
But for test cricket there is no comparison. Russell at best would have end up just like pandya.
Also he said in the past that he has bad knees & can't survive test cricket load. So he focuses on giving his 200% in white ball cricket.

He has played a grand total of 1 Test Match(es). And he only batted in 1 innings.

He may not have been test material, and he has underachieved in LOIs so far considering his talent. His bowling is decent but it’s his destructive batting that’s remarkable.

Just like Afridi, no? Great athlete, but doesn't have the cricket intelligence to perform consistently or make it big in Test cricket.

The way T20 is taking over everything he unfortunately will not be the last one to not make the most of his potential.

Born in the wrong system. Australia would've turned him into the greatest all-rounder of all time. He's the most gifted player I've ever seen.

Russell is a T20 league special not more than that. He is pretty inconsistent in West Indian color with a below average stat.

Also in the recent series against Bangladesh he was brutal with the bat. Nearly destroyed us almost always.

But his bowling lacks much skill.

Not to forget he look a stunning catch in the match too. Best performance in a T20 hands down.

Andre Russel has serious competition from some equally talented Pakistani all rounders.

That was one hell of a knock. One of the best t20 innings. He is very very talented. He needs to perform consistently though.Brilliant t20 player.MVP in t20s.

Please do not compare A good T20 batsman from WI (Dine a dozen) with the Universe boss.

Dre Russ gets tonked all the time.

How is bowling in the IPL?

I don't know much but fans of IPL have claimed in the past that Mohit Sharma, Sran, Unadkat, Dinda, Chahar, Kaul, Thakur are products of IPL. And they all were abused by these same fans during their short international career. :inti

and Bumrah, Chahal, Kuldeep too..

He ripped stoinis and Southee apart.

No doubt he is a good hitter but although Southee is great test bowler but as a T20 bowler he makes me look international material, and Stoinis isn't very good. Russell struggled in the PSL because he didn't have the buffet bowling to hit.

No sluggish pitches. These bowlers will be cartered all over at wankede, bangalore stadium. Nothing to do with quality.

IPL 207 runs from 77 balls.

PSL 50 runs at an average of 12.50

Ingram, Watto, Pollard all struggle here. Random dudes like Delport, Livingston had a ball out there. Can't compare leagues like that. Pitch conditions, crowd effect, MONEY !!! He is getting paid like 8 crores. Sure he will have more motivation to retain his spot.

Lol!

My bad but I missed a word (i.e. 'he') in my original post. I wanted to ask how Russell is bowling in the IPL. He was way below 100% during the PSL.
