Said it years again and was criticized. This guy is a joke of a player. The notion that he is talented is the biggest myth in Pakistan cricket.

He is not talented at all. The only thing he is talented at is pretending to be the second coming of Jonty Rhodes in the field and doing theatrics for the camera.

His bowling has no zip, no control, no spin. With the bat, he can barely time anything, he has no power, and he is always late on the ball.

If life had taken a different turn for him, he would be nowhere near the national team or a PSL franchise, let alone pretend to be the golden boy of Pakistan cricket.

He is basically a Saad Nasim level player who got an extremely lucky break.

Shadab is neither a bowler who you turn to when you need a wicket or one who can keep things tight. What kind of bowler is he? just one to bowl overs quickly maybe ? that's the only speciality I see.

As a batsman, he neither has the technique to defend or play sensibly in difficult conditions - and nor does he have the power game, variety of strokes or attacking intent to play the big shots - yes he scores 20s very consistently, I will give him that as a batsman if that's his unique selling point.

Is this an all rounder worthy of a place in the team? seriously..

Yawn, players outside the team are always better than players inside the team. Story of Pakistan Cricket of always recycling players. You can't build a team like this if players are always dropped after a bad match or series.

Even Steve Waugh in an interview revealed that the invincible Australian side from 1998 to 2007 did not get there without sucking up some horrible defeats in the mid 80's and early 90's

In absence of quality all rounders in mold of Razzaq or Azhar Mahmood, his role is to score 20s at lower order with a reasonable strike rate and bowl 7 to 10 overs without getting hammered and chipping in with a wicket or two. So the only thing missing is more wickets but apart from Hasan Ali that is issue with all our bowlers. Hopefully, more he plays consistently, injury free, and in tandem with bowler putting pressure on the other side the more wickets he will take. Having said that as pure bowler currently I would take with Nawaz or Usman Qadir over Shadab, but then we will be bowled out at even lesser runs. The other mini all rounder Faheem is contributing no runs, if anything he should be replaced by a better bowler or additional batsman.

True, Faheem is the bigger issue at the moment.

In the first two games he was saved by cautious approach from batsmen but in this game he actually bowled exactly I wanted him to bowl , he was bowling in the mid 95ks and used googly well , yea did bowled some hit me delivery but the extra pace helped him , i think he read my post on pakpassion. Hopefully he will continue to bowl quicker like Rashid Khan

Would have sent in Hasan in place of him. One of two mistakes by Babar today in my opinion.

As I been saying his lack of performances previous year and half were due to injuries, and not due to lack of effort or training. Many were accusing him of thinking he is a star, and gun fielder so he did not care about his bowling.

Shadab bats quite well. He does good strike rotation and can also strike the ball for six. His six hitting strategy is more like English batters as he holds the bat higher, even though he lacks any muscle power.

His bowling doesnt have much spin, and i dont know if he can improve as a bowler or not. His line and length is messed up, and we have discussed his bowling in lengths...

Now, Shoaib Malik also went through such a phase when he got banned for chucking a doosra, so he concentrated on his batting and reemerged as a batter. Azhar Ali aswell started his career as a leg spinner, but later on he developed in to a full batsman and became a proper test player for Pakistan.

Should Shadab go down a similar route if his bowling isn't working out for him? Mind you, we dont have many lower order hitters and Shadab's hitting is better than many other batters. Plus, there arnt much cricketing years left on Iftikhar anyways.
