I have a very good eye for talent and I have identified Khawaja Nafey who turns 22 years old currently playing in the Ramadan Tournament. What a player this guy is the shots he was hitting was of pure elegance timing power and class. This guy is a serious talent and I’m the one who identified many other talents like Harry Brook etc.

He’s already represented Chattogram Challengers in this years BPL but unfortunately flopped. You can imagine he would have had nerves as it was his first big overseas tournament hence why he only got 3 games.

These are the kind of players Pakistan must invest in to be able to compete against the top teams like England and others around the world but instead we select meak weak players like Shan Masood who struggle to clear the inner circle ⭕️.

It is soo sad to see that this guy is literally 22 years old and is struggling and playing in Ramadan cricket tournaments instead of big league tournament such as PSL where I think he actually belongs and will excel in.

There is a reason why BPL Chattogram Challengers selected him for this years t20 tournament as the guy is pure talent.

Guys check this guy out he plays as an Opener and can play in the middle order as he also plays spin well. Check him out on YouTube as there are a few clips of him batting will show you a glimpse of hi extraordinary ball stoking and shot making.

Haven’t raved about a kid since umar akmal broke onto the scene in 2009. This guy if given the right exposure can make it big buy we all know corruption in the ranks will not let him make it or get far.

the idea that the pcb ignores great talent is overplayed. the best guys usually make it to first class and psl level.

a quick look shows this guy played plenty of domestic under-19 but flopped in most tournaments. averaged under 20 in three day and mid 20s in one day comps.

best of luck to him, but you cant blame the PCB for his own lack of performance.

He’s facing club level bowling. All the best to him but so far in the limited opportunities he’s had against higher quality bowling he has not delivered

Is he rated by any established cricketers or coaches at the domestic level?

From the video, he seems to have a sound technique. His batting style is similar to Kohli's.

All the best.

Classic example of style vs substance, you can look million dollar at the crease but it is the performance which counts , let him score few tons at any level and then tell that PCB is ignoring him

If there is player who looks so stylish and also perform heavily at any level he’s playing, it’s nearly impossible for PCB to ignore such players given the lack of batting talent in the country and the same applies for the bowlers if you clicks 140k regularly then it’s impossible to not get noticed. The analogy that our talent get unnoticed used to be correct 20-30 years ago when we had overflowing talent and limited opportunities but not now , things have reversed

He's facing club level bowling he looks ok at best definitely nothing special

He's facing club level bowling he looks ok at best definitely nothing special

He is not facing club level bowing he’s facing the likes of anwar Ali and Arshad Iqbal who regularly play PSL and he was taking them to the cleaners today.

He just played another absolutely stunning innings today he’s scored 2 back to back 50s. He hot a 50 today whilst chasing this guy is world class and the real deal.

He just needs confidence and be given the right platform to perform. Khawaja Nafay is special. He was the highest run scorer today where as other like Umar akmal Khurram manzoor looked no where near as good as this guy.

Can one of the admins on here get his innings highlights today for Omar Asoociates where absolutely destroyed every bowler. He’s got the swag and arrogance of an Indian batsmen.

It will be travesty if this guy does not play PSL next year. He’s probably the biggest talent batting wise I’ve seen in a long time. He needs to be given a chance on the big platform

Looks a spin basher was late on pretty much every ball against Arshad Iqbal who not the quickest either.

He is nothing special apart from good looking style and technique, can’t play real pace at all and mentally not strong enough to score consistently as well , he at most can graduate to play FC and OD and then few season later he can think about PSL if he actually improves both skill wise and mental wise , currently he is not even domestic cricket material let alone PSL or national side. We tried Asad shafiq for so long remember? Pretty guy with excellent technique

Nafay in a recent interview:

"I am thankful to Allah that he gave me best coaches. Sir Liaquat is my coach and he trains me for this. He always says that when you play a shot, keep immense confidence that the ball will go for a boundary so that there is no need to look at it"

"In power-hitting, there is no one at this moment whom I look up to. Yes, I love watching Babar Azam like many others. I get motivation by watching him, they way he scores runs with consistency is something very motivating"

Excellent hand eye coordination - great timing, excellent strength and power.

A beautiful player who with right chances, lots of luck and a reasonable level of intelligence could become a very good player.

You have to be blind as a bat to not see his immense natural ability. He needs to be drafted into the A squads and get picked by a PSL franchise in the emerging category.

With a bit of work he can be a real asset for Pakistan in white ball cricket.

A brilliant half-century for this young talent Khawaja Nafay in SPL 2024. His innings helped Karachi Ghazis defeat Sukkur Patriots by 7 wickets.

Everybody started bashing me when I hyped this guy back last year. Watch him play now lighting up the tournament. Special player.

Quetta need to play Usman Tariq another special talent

Hopefully he can have a very consistent run in PSL and you never know....

Brilliant hitter and I just love the way he waits for the slower ones.

Take a bow son. Took apart Pakistand T20 international bowlers.

I'm sold! He has brains alongside good shots.

Having brains in a Pakistani player on its own is a rarity and this alone puts him above many other more talented guys.

Credit where its due. A good find.

Impressive management of the chase. Clean striker of the ball, will have to see more of his offside play

Before joining the hype brigade. Please set your standards high. Can this guy face Cummins & co in Aus or will he be a walking wicket like shakeel salman & co.

That’s the only way Pak will draw or win in Aus

Loll let’s focus on t20i before we even think about tests. We need to see how he develops and maybe if he has a really good tournament he could be a wildcard pick for the world cup

Very confident. Had a lot of self-belief and wasn't worried about the reputation of the opposition bowlers.

Early days, but he looked a special talent.

Very impressive youngster. Very matured and was not scared of the pace that Rauf was generating.

It was funny to see Shaheen call him little kid. Both Shaheen and Nafay are same age.

I don't hype anymore.

Hitting the spray gun Rauf and trundler Shaheen is different to hitting international class bowlers.

Lets see if he can keep this up when given an international chance.

He mentioned in his post match press conference that he likes Babar Azam and Rohit Sharma.

It's so good to know that young players now including him and the likes of Saim grew up idolizing Babar Azam. For a long period of time we lacked an idol in the batting who would inspire the next generation of batters.

At least with Babar now we have young players coming up who are looking at Babar and getting inspired by him in batting rather than a Shahid Afridi.

Looked good with the IQ to manage the chase wisely.

It's a big step up for him considering he did it against international bowlers like Afridi and Rauf (regardless of how good you think they are).

I heard some young batter in Pakistan has a brain, is that true ? Didn't see his batting today , will watch highlights tonight.

Yes, we have Bradman and Lara warming the benching while playing 11 has batters of Sachin league.

We have no young batters coming through so lets hope

He won't play Tests more likely odis and t20s in future.

Yes becouse Shaheen and Rauf ain't international class.

Such an impressive Innings due to how he calculated the run chase.Only 1 dot ball in his whole Innings. He is also a decent fielder and part time wicket keeper.

Good spot well done.

Good spot well done.
Thanks. There’s another talent I’m crying out he’s in the reserves for Quetta spinner Usman Tariq. Looks special too baring his actions clean. I’ve had a thread on him too for a while. He’s the best spinner in Pakistan period. Ashwin level

I will check him out.

No doubt there is lots of talent in the country. I want to see talented performances in 4 day cricket rather than in PSL.
We have an illusion that PSL is providing us serious talent. Real talent from top teams like Australia, India and England emerge from the first-class scene. Jaiswal is one recent example.

Agree 100%

Just don’t see the point of this kid stealing the show, playing blinders that the current team senior players never can play even at this level…

But then those senior players have complete immunity to never be dropped or play in positions that the country needs them to play in.

This guy, for however good he is will just be misused, mistreated and discarded whenever he does come through for Pakistan. Whilst the obviously rubbish T20 players like the two openers will be going nowhere.

Surprised that he hasn't played any first class, list A or even domestic national T20 for Pakistan.
Corruption in selections ?

He is pretty young (22 years) if I am not wrong. He was spotted by people on social media platform and it is not far away from the fact that he will be playing first-class for sure now, he has to play otherwise he will just be another league bully. He is special and he will do wonders I am sure. IA

Some shots those 👍🏻... But this no look thing is getting cringey. Brewis and then this guy..

Did he give a cake with that to 🤔 Shaheen acting like the mighty Wasim Akram was just taken down by a young jobber; should focus more on his own bowling instead of behaving like a sissy.

A fine knock by the kid though.
It is always good to encourage an upcoming youngster who just smashed your team out of the park. Shaheen no doubt is not doing any good himself but he is the captain of the national team so it will boost the confidence of Nafay for sure.

I don’t buy the hype either.

Some good shots but then 1. this is T20, 2. these are Pakistani highway pitches & 3. the quality of the bowling at PSL leaves a lot to be desired.

This kid has to prove himself against decent bowling attacks outside Pakistan to be taken serious. And he has to prove himself in the longer formats, as well. This is not the first time some newcomer has set PSL ablaze only to flop spectacularly against decent teams.

I am no longer amazed by T20 mercenaries.

Rauf, Afridi, Zaman and Sikander are a better T20 bowling attack than most international teams can put out. They are players in demand by leagues all over the world too. They are not a lollipop attack by any means

This boy spanked them into the stands. Sure he has a long way to go as a player but his innings deserves major hype.

You are right. This attack by no means was an ordinary one. Nafay chased the score superbly and the way he smashed Hairs for those sixes was not ordinary as well. He got under his skin and spanked him.

Get ready to see another no-look shot player from Pakistan.

This guy's got a baby face but a few things show that he clearly isn't 22 and even Husnain realised in their talk. You can tell around the eyes when he smiles that there is signs of ageing. Also he stated he was playing cricket in 2012/13 but that would make him 10 when he started. He said that he started playing before Babar was playing internations in 2015 so that's why even Husnain said ' Aap bohot puranai hai' (You are quite old) in a joking manner.

Looks a great player though and its not under 19s anymore so his age shouldn't matter but the PCB really should have some sort of system to that there players are all vetted and tested for their age regardless if they are in under 19s cricket.

A tap on the back and a few words achieves that.

Giving him a Bat, what the heck man, it’s not a win in a major ICC event or something.

This can potentially spoil a youngster, going to lengths out of the ordinary to give praise.

They already cut cakes and have a big disco for personal milestones and other minor stuff which reinforces mediocrity.

Standards are so low.

Somebody needs to show these blokes the danda, way too comfortable and way too sissy, he should worry more about recovering full fitness.

If I got smashed to bits by a child like that, I wouldn’t go to sleep at night, I’d think of ways to do better.

If this doesn’t give a reality check, what will?

Michael Vaughan retired when his kids started getting him out in his back garden.

This is the equivalent of Shaheen getting beat up by Nafay, but he has youth on his side, needs to wake up and smell the coffee, no need to give kisses after playing rubbish; it shows you don’t care about what you put out there, I’d be in an awful mood, this is what separates the current mentality to guys like Akram etc

Shaheen is still our premier and spearhead pacer. This kid was literally nobody before PSL lets be honest. So it's good Shaheen is acknowledging him.

Good sportsman spirit.

He is definitely under 24. Take a chill pill, man. He said that he was following Rohit and Kohli since they were playing in 2011s whereas Babar started 2015. The "bohat purana" comment by you is taken out of context. We all know that "Babar has to be praised" in order to be in the good books in Pakistan cricket so the kid was trying to say the right things lol

No one who idealizes Babar could play like Nafay is playing.

Shazzy bear bhai, Shaheen is the national captain. He is encouraging the youngster. Take it positively. The Wasims of old would have been jealous of any young and upcoming talent. At least appreciate the gesture by the captain of the national team. Would do wonders to the kid's confidence.

They would very cross with themselves, why would a world champion be jealous, they’d be angry that they got handled by a toddler. Those great players had huge ego’s l wont deny that, but you need to have a bit of an ego to be a great.

Shaheen; too nice, too humble; it shows in his bowling these days to.

I don’t deny he is the best Pak have but he is behaving OTT, perhaps to mask his own failing or simply too nice and generous, with his bowling to…

You don’t need to buy the guys groceries to display sportsmanship, I don’t know how many great leaders went over board like this.

Thier were many incidents were players have gifted thier bats to the opposition players.

Saim Ayub appraised Khawaja Nafay while speaking to the media in Karachi.

"Indeed, he is very talented. He also plays in Karachi with me. I have known him since childhood. He has played very good batting, I pray for him and I am very happy,"

Thier were many incidents were players have gifted thier bats to the opposition players.

In a lowly meaningless domestic T20 where the premier plays bends his back after being humiliated?

Surprisingly Khawaja Nafay faced only one dot ball out of the 30 deliveries he faced against Lahore Qalandars. This lad surely knows how to make use of a power play. Great future ahead!

Khawaja Nafay, in his recent interview with an international sports media outlet, sheds light on his cricketing journey and aspirations:

"My cricket journey started like most, watching it on TV. I caught the bug and wanted to play cricket myself. I approached Sir Liaquat [Ali Khan], my coach since childhood. Working diligently with him, we improvised practices due to a lack of proper nets. I participated in U15 tournaments in India, followed by regional U16s and U19s. Despite limited exposure in PCB-mandated cricket, I played seniors, grade 2, and later joined the BPL. Success in Ramzan cricket earned me a spot in the PSL. My journey has been challenging, but here I am."

"Despite challenges and waiting for opportunities, I kept faith and continued working hard. My coach, Liaquat, remained my constant support. While waiting for my name in national tournaments, I committed to hard work, aiming for a comeback. It's tough, especially when U-19 success opens doors to the PSL. My determination was to work with my coach, no matter the setbacks."

"At around 10, my cousin introduced me to Sir Liaquat's Future Stars Cricket Academy. The fielding drills and training sessions convinced me I belonged there. Over a decade later, I'm still with him."

"Chattogram Challengers noticed me, possibly through my social media or other means. The BPL experience boosted my confidence. Spotted during Ramzan cricket in 2023, I joined Quetta in the PSL. Despite scrutiny after BPL, good performances in Ramzan and Grade 2, along with a notable PSL innings, turned things around."

"Social media, managed by the Future Stars Academy, played a role. My online presence, viral videos, and recognition in the BPL eased my integration. While I don't personally manage social media, my posts resonate widely, though wrongly perceived as self-posted."

"I believe in my abilities; my coach instilled confidence in facing top bowlers. Although Shaheen and Haris are among the world's best, I focused on helping my team win."

"Batting where needed, Quetta Gladiators informed me about a middle-order role, despite my usual opening position. I adapted, honing my skills for this role."

"I don't know if I see myself as their equal, but I believe in my abilities. Babar is my favorite for his consistency, and I learn from his runs in every match. Rohit's soft-handed sixes inspire me; it's something I'd like to emulate."

"While every Pakistani cricketer dreams of playing for Pakistan, my current focus is on the ongoing PSL season. With half the season remaining, my mind is here."
