They don't create backups man. Giving chances to players like Farhan and Usman.

Had they taken him on tour to even place like Zimbabwe for One Day Cricket. Management would've had Nafay ready as backup.
 
Nafay has a ladder right in front of him in the shape pf PSL 10. He can make it into the team by smashing some runs in PSL
 
I am backing him as a wildcard success I think he has the game to be successful in all 3 formats if he is mentally up for it has a really good batting basics unlike most Pakistani players

Khawaja Nafay is known for being an explosive opener but in PSL X, he is being forced to play out of his favorite position at number 4. So would this decision benefit him and his team? 🤔
 
Rangpur riders have announced their squad for the Global Super League and Nafay has been named among them.

It will be a great opportunity to play against other franchise teams around the world.

On the second phase of the training camp:
“There’s been a lot of improvement. As you can see, we wake up at 4:30 AM, and our session starts at 6:00 AM. We’re learning a lot about power hitting with Razzaq Bhai, and we’re also working with the spinners. There’s so much to learn, and we’re trying to maintain this routine even after the camp ends.”

On being dropped after scoring 50 in the PSL:
“We, as players, always try to give our 100% whenever we get an opportunity, fulfilling the team’s requirements. I did score 50, and the team combination was such that there was no place for me even after that performance. But it was a good experience, absolutely fine.”

On handling pressure games:
“Absolutely, in our training sessions, we play 800 balls a day. We play them quickly so our muscles don’t tire. They’re telling us that this will greatly benefit us when we face pressure games.”

On wicket-keeping alongside batting:
“Definitely, in modern-day cricket, one skill isn’t enough. The management has told me that I’m a good wicket-keeper. The coaches are working with me to improve as much as possible, which is good for me, Alhamdulillah.”

On praise from Sir Vivian Richards:
“Regarding batting techniques, we often showed him our videos. He would say that he had belief in himself and in the practice he put in. I asked him how he developed his technique, and he said it was all about belief in himself and his practice. He advised me to have the same belief in myself.”

On his “no-look shots”:
“No, it’s nothing like that. It’s just that when a batsman middles the ball, they know it’s a clean hit. The ‘no-look’ aspect isn’t that significant; it’s just a habit to look down after middling the ball. It’s simple, Ashraf Bhai.”

On aspirations in different formats:
“We work hard to represent Pakistan and do something for our country. That’s the goal. We practice everything, and if we get a chance in red-ball cricket, we’ll definitely be ready because we practice for all formats.”

On working with different coaches:
“I’ve worked with many coaches, but they always emphasize not changing your natural game. They just add a few things. For example, Razzaq Bhai recently added something; he told me to stick to my natural game. He taught me a power-hitting shot and said to keep my base strong while hitting. No one tells me to change my natural game, so it doesn’t affect me because they always say not to change your natural style.”

On players he follows:
“I mostly watch my own videos. I review them to see what changes I need to make.”

On format preference and clarity from coaches:
“They haven’t specifically told me which format they’ll consider me for. They’ve just told me to be ready as a wicket-keeper. My goal is to be prepared, and I’ll give my 100% in whichever format I get the opportunity.”

One thing that is fair to say is Rizwan sets a pretty elite standard for keeping. Very difficult to surpass that facet

He’s a p*ss poor T20 batsman though

He is the best keeper Pakistan has had excluding the ones we had in the 90's in terms of pure gloves work.

But batting is more valued at the end of the day.

Mark boucher as a keeper is leagues ahead of QDK. QDK is extremely good but in terms of glove work their is no comparison. Boucher is the goat when it comes to glovework.

But I dont think sa would ever choose boucher over QDK if both of them played in the same era.

QDK is an freak whiteball batsmen.

Where is he playing ? If he wanted to improve and have any chance to play at a good level, he should be playing Red Ball cricket right now.

Silly stuff from PCB to give the NOC for this. If you really cared about the player's development, he should be playing the ongoing FC. We know he has hitting ability but he needs to shore up his defence and strike rotation ability if he wants to be anything besides a slogger.
 
Why PCB is sending top young guns into these useless tournaments. Look BCCI, they always send second tier old players in these tournaments to keep them happy and earn some money
 
He definitely has the game to play T20 cricket, however I'm surprised he isn't playing the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, considering Pakistan can do with some wicketkeepers, specially when you see Bismlillah Khan, Rehan Afridi & other poorer keepers are playing & getting game time.

Should have played in shaheens team for asia cup... But anywaym he could have been tried in tri--series as well but we missed a good chance..
 
he was already in PSL but would have been nice to try him out b4 taht as T20 worlcdup is in Feb right
 
Khawaja Nafay had a rare failure in the ongoing Abu Dhabi T10 league as he was dismissed on 1 in the actual match and then got the first ball duck in the super over against Vista Riders.

Not ready yet for international cricket. Haris also not good enough (tried and tested). Doubts about Usman being able to perform with the bat against good teams and question marks about his keeping.

Worth a try.... just not happy to accept an average of 18 and SR of 120 nor ave of 23 and SR 111.

If this kid can provide better, give him first shot (before Rizzy)

Compliment. You're assuming Rizwan is a hitter. He lacks the will to play aggressive.
