Mudassir Riaz is once again playing in Lahore Qalandar's Emerging Talent Tournament, representing Faisalabad. He performed well in last year's tournament, and impressed many posters here with his performances in the subsequent tour to Australia.

He seems to have started this year's tournament where he left off, as he has once again put in some good performances. His bowling seems pretty quick and whilst he doesn't generate much movement, he seems to hit the deck pretty hard. He hasn't had too many chances with the bat but he is batting at 6 so should have his chance soon.

From memory Ellipsism you watched him play live in Australia and seemed to rate him. Please provide more info on him, especially his batting.

Abdullah719 please upload the videos of his performances to this thread.

We don't know if he can move the ball or not because he doesn't usually get the new ball and conditions have to be right. Solid bowler, his batting will determine whether he's a class A or B prospect.

How tall is he?

If he's a batting all-rounder (Shane Watson/Mitch Marsh) he could be viable even if he is as short as 6'0.

If he's a bowling all-rounder, then if he's less than 6'2, forget it.

See for yourself:

Ellipsism saw him live so he will be able to provide a guesstimate.

Trying too hard. Has a longer run up than most fast bowlers and then bowls like a trundler.

4/23 yesterday.

I am a bit confused with your stand on this. Fred Truman was 5'10", Lindwall similar, Styen also below 5'11" ... and Marshall 5'9" - exactly 175cm - so not sure what's your point here. Not saying this guy is going to be MDM, and can't judge any bowler/player from 2 minutes clip, but it's possible to be a world class fast bowling all-rounder even at 170cm (5'7"), if one can compliment skills & pace in bowling & back it up with bat.

Not saying that height isn't any advantage, but discarding a player just because he is not what ideal case should be isn't the right way of talent hunt. Hasan Ali won't have ever played an A match, if you were selector, probably neither Marshall.

His bowling looks pretty decent. Any clips of his batting?

He's not taller than 6 foot, he's on the shorter side of the scale.

Batting needs a lot of work as there's some basic fundamentals missing, but the raw ingredients, especially timing are present. But I will refrain from passing a judgement as I haven't seen him bat for more than 10 odd balls and that too at the back end.

Thanks for the info.

Sounds like we will just have to wait and see how good his batting is.

He played for KRL in the One Day Cup yesterday.

Batted at 5 and made 31 off 46, 0/41 off 7 overs.
