The first-ever PSL auction is now done and dusted, but it left fans stunned as several standout local performers shockingly went unsold. Here’s a look at five players whose omission raised serious eyebrows.
At number five is Ali Osman, the slow left-arm spinner from Bihari who has dominated almost every domestic tournament. Sharp, consistent, economical, and a genuine wicket-taker, Osman has delivered across formats, yet not a single franchise raised the paddle for him.
Fourth on the list is Moosa Khan. The right-arm pacer has reinvented himself in domestic cricket, rediscovering rhythm and confidence. With multiple hat-tricks to his name in recent seasons, Moosa’s resurgence seemed tailor-made for T20 cricket, but he too remained unsold.
Saad Khan comes in at number three. A dependable left-handed middle-order batter, he can take on spinners from ball one. After a terrific Quaid-e-Azam Trophy season, he earned selection in the Pakistan Shaheen squad for the white-ball series against England Lions. If he is good enough for Pakistan Shaheen, many expected him to attract PSL interest.
Second is Mohsin Riaz, a stylish and aggressive top-order batter from Sialkot with impressive domestic numbers and Pakistan Shaheen experience. Despite his credentials, no franchise made a move.
Topping the list is Mohd Faiq Butt, who smashed two centuries in four National T20 Cup innings and recently won the Rising Stars Asia Cup with Pakistan Shaheen. Capable of batting anywhere between five and six, his omission was perhaps the most shocking of all.
