PSL makes history with first-ever Player Auction as eight franchise rosters completed

I don't want to sound like I'm discriminating but I would rather we pick players from countries where PSL can grow than pick players from UAE and American Pakistanis.

Pick some more from Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and even South African youngsters.
I like the thought process but the only way they can pick players from the countries you mentioned is if they have a scouting program. PSL doesnt do foreign scouting like ipl does.

Bangladesh has hidden gems like Nahid Rana and Rishad, but they can only be found through scouting.

If we add Nepali players, that would give a different taste to our PSL and give an outlook as if we have some indians, so good idea. Nepal has some good hitters aswell.

Fakar and Haris were bound for Lahore, other teams should have pushed them harder, and raise the price for them, get Lahore to spend more of their purse, play some mind games

Hyderabad - poor bowling attack, lack of balance
Peshawar - trash
Rawalpindi - some good picks but Rizwan likely as captain and opening the batting (n)
Quetta - super weird overseas picks. not sure what they were thinking. local core is good
Islamabad - very good squad
Sialkot - very good squad
Karachi - good squad
Lahore - solid squad focused on retaining the core group. most settled squad in the comp.

Looking at this auction it feels like most of these teams don't really do much scouting or watch other leagues. As someone who was watching the BBL and the SA20 over the past few months there were so many good players that I saw in these competitions; out of whom a very small number have actually been picked.

PSL makes history with first-ever Player Auction as eight franchise rosters completed

•A total of 103 players were sold at the first-ever HBL PSL Auction

•At the Auction, Rawalpindi’s Naseem Shah bagged highest pay cheque getting 8.65 crores, while his teammate Daryl Mitchell was the highest paid overseas player for 8.05 crores

Only Quetta and Islamabad seem to do their Homework.

Hyderabad is just going on Chicago vibes. They are in for a hammering this season. Their owner is treating his team like a personal passion project.

Not sure if you have seen Fawad Sarwar's interviews but he talks a lot, he was criticizing the previous PSL owners very openly i.e. why did you let so many competing leagues i.e. ILT20, SAT-20, MLC prop up and hurt the PSL and not do anything about it in return?

Their Auction strategy today didn't backed his talk.

I already hate them because of their stupid name and that desperate desire to be perceived as 'American'. So I more than welcome their downfall.

Their owner is also very shooda, he tries to act cool.. he was doing a press conference and was trying to rile up the crowd with kingsmen than turns the mic towards them as if he is fighting an election campaign 😆 . It was cringe

Btw Islamabad cleverly sneaked in a player from Nepal.

Did some digging on cricinfo. Turns out the guy is an allrounder that is known for slogging out the ball at the lower order and can bowl spin.

They got him at base price.

This, and Gous were two sneaking picks they made for a great bargain.

I have realized these allrounders are valuable in t20. With faheem and and this guy, they have made a very solid lower order batting

Yes I know its Dipendra Singh Airee. Played a blinder of a knock against England the other day. He is also probably Nepal's most popular cricketer. It's great to see a player like him getting a platform in PSL. I hope they play him because he can be a very useful player for them

Probably is in desperate need of approval from the country where he couldn't make it

Islamabad has that guy called Rehan who does good research on players. I was hoping they would bag faham ul haq just for his allrounder basis.

Hyderabad is going to be interesting. The owner seems like a guy who will walk into the dressing room and scold the players if they dont perform. Toxic vibes coming from him.

Good luck to the players in that side.

You have to be really high to pick hammad azam at this age. Guy isnt good enough for usa national team

Well he said very arrogantly, if you keep complaining about losses then why are you even owning the teams then? Get out and make way for other investors with bigger pockets who can run these teams comfortably. He even said that he wants the PSL to have a salary cap of $5-6 million per team.

Psl has always been about making superstars
Just look at the Lahore Qalandars scouting programme with the likes of Rauf, nasim and Daniyal etc
Most of the international batsmen who have made it for England in t20s played in the Psl beforehand
But instead of picking young guys they pick hammad azam, Ben mcdermott, Laurie Evans in year 2026 when the likes of Tim Robinson, Jason Smith, James Coles goes unsold....

Sialkot
Farhaan
Steve Smith
Shan Masood
Josh Phillipe
Lachlan Shaw
Dalano
Nawaz
Ahmed Daniyal
Salman Mirza
Peter Siddle
Momin Qadar

Random picks not heard off a few of them.

He is saying right but I don't think this much purse is needed if you are in same window as IPL..... just increase 50 crore to 65 crore

It really bothers me that sahibzada farhan was not retained by Islamabad and was released by them. They instead retained salman irshad. They infact had a retention spot for Farhan but didnt use it

It was first time so there were a lot of blunders made in the auction but anyway, PSL moved to new system so hopefully we will do better job next time.

Cricket has become a fun sport where players who can whack 25 off 10 will go for Crores. Sports is way too overvalued. These days you can just grab highlights on YouTube unless of course its big games.

Any profession that is based on public appearance is very well paid if you think of it.
Its natural for the majority of the working class to feel frustrated with the crazy money these professionals make but thats the name of the game.

Faham is inferior version of Talat.

Hyderabad guy is a narcissist by the looks of it.

Out of all the lower order hitters i have seen, faheem tends to perform in domestic t20. His ceiling is 30 runs and that is enough at the spot he plays.

Plua, being the only allrounder, he is hot commodity

Well thats how it should be. Its t20 cricket.

One of the best things about t20 cricket is how brutal it is. Doesnt matter what your reputation was in the past, or how much of a senior you may be in your home country. If you dont provide the value that the team needs from you, no one will buy you.

When IPL started many Pakistani "seniors" got over looked, it really bothered them. One thing that they hated was how guys junior to them got to earn more money

Guy hasn't even played a single t20 game and a SR of 74 is list a is far from being a good enough hitter.

Even Misbah knows that and that's why he was not picked.

Yea we saw how hot was the commodity of all rounders like Talat

He isnt really good enough for odi. He plays cameo innings.

Which is why in t20, a guy like him can be adjusted. I was also against him for years, but it took me some time to understand modern t20 values guys that can smaxk 30 runs of 15 deliveries.

And he has done it a few times for Islamabad United.

Also, the common issue with Asif Ali, Danish Aziz or Azam khan was that they couldnt be hidden with an extra ability. Faheems medium pace allows him to be adjusted as an allrounder that can come into bowl be utilized.

Hussain Talat lacks confidence. Even after playing few matches for Pakistan, Talat looks soo much under pressure as if he is making his debut. And that is his batting.

When he comes into bowl he gets smacked.

Rumors going aroung that Shamar Joseph may have been released after social media backlash faced by Islamabad United for selecting a guy who had 11 women accusing him of rape.

They’ll be more supplementary picks before march, where the young guns will get picked up for below their base price
The likes of Peter Siddle can only encourage youth in an era where our fast bowlers become t20 bowlers at the age of 30 to prolong their careers

So the list of coach

HHK - Gillespies
Sialkot - Tim Paine
LQ - Russel Domingo
PZ - Misbah ??/ Mo Akram ?
Kk - Bopara
IU - Ronchi
RWP - Inzy ??
=============
They will definitely play a big part in team success

Lol Sialkot Stallions have appointed Wasim Akram as their President.

What will be his job description and duties? Is he going to make an easy $350,000 plus for doing nothing?
