PSL makes history with first-ever Player Auction as eight franchise rosters completed

Its because they trust this group of players in terms of their relations with the rest of the team and have that chemistry.

Its how franchise leagues operate, they tend to retain the main core group and avoid going for a revamp as the whole chemistry messes up.

Thats why LQ has managed 4 wins, and IU is happy as long as they compete with their group of players.

Reason guys like Imad Wasim and Mohammad Haris go unsold is because they have personalities that ruin the whole chemistry of the squad.
Was genuinely happy about Imad going unsold. But my happiness did not last long

What a never ending auction.

It's like all 200+ million people of Pakistan are going through it.

Fast bowlers who didn't get picked: Fawad Ali, Hasan Mahmud, Muzarabani, Taskin Ahmed, Billy Stanlake, Muhammad Seyam, That tall Pakistani guy who played U19 in PJL

Adam Rossington is a decent Azam Khan style player who can hit spin well. Josh Philipe is a terrible player of spin but he's been selected so it's recency bias in some extent.

Tom Curran & a couple of Windies players are such meh picks.

Nepal having a player in PSL is actually great.

A few pluses, a few minuses, & some absolute no bodies and finished cricketers made it again to PSL. Looking forward to the supplementary picks and other squad adjustments. At the end of the day, it seems that most teams have repeated the same mistakes that they usually make. Top heavy with very little in the middle.

IU and LQ have spent more money to retain their main core of players. I like how they approach this auction.

I want to support Rawalpindi, but the way IU has bought back its players, I may still have to keep supporting them. Rawalpindi looks like a mess.

Csk had this approach in IPL

Qasim Akram might need to go the Hassan Khan route. It's interesting that a couple of years ago he was considered as the next generation super star and now he's unable to even make it to a bloated PSL.

Now that I see the auction, I feel they should not have allowed any retentions. One overseas superstar as a premium signing should have been enough. A proper reset and market evaluation of our players would have either boosted their egos or grounded them to dust.

Adam is in fine form too.

I have observed a thing. Babar at Peshawar likes to have weak bowlers at his disposal. Somebody who he can command. Even overseas bowlers who are agreeable and will never challenge his leadership.

Maybe that's also why Babar and Shaheen don't go along too well.

Very weak batting lineup bar farhan and smith.
They are gonna finish at the bottom with this batting lineup.

This is a typical PSL team. More bowlers than batters. True to their word, however, they did provide an Aussie flavor to their team.

I think at the end of the day they were just tired because they needed batters and were engaged in a price war for Momin Qamar who is very raw spinner while they already have Shamsi.

Disappointing to see oldies and washed up players getting picked and some good players like mcmullen munsey brian bennett and tim robinson going unsold.
Boy these batters are certainly better than those turners and domestic kiwi players

Agreed, Munsey and mcmullen are the cream for Scotland batting with top class skills and power.

Hyderabad is also good tbh
Yeah they are good. The fact that their core group already plays together for Chicago will be a huge benefit. I’m also excited to see Tayyab Arif being picked. I was impressed by him in the PJL and otherwise, surprisingly has been missing from the scene for some time.

QG once again has an incredible set of players but strange squad planning. In an ideal world you’d like all of Minhas (SLA), Faisal Akram (Chinamen), Abrar (Mystery) and Usman Tariq (weirdness) in your team, but you can’t play all four, as you’d still want to play two quicks. They do have the best young local batters in their squad.

I don't want to sound like I'm discriminating but I would rather we pick players from countries where PSL can grow than pick players from UAE and American Pakistanis.

Pick some more from Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and even South African youngsters.

Another head scratcher is Karachi getting Azam Khan when they already had Saad Baig. Saad needs to play as the emerging pick, but Azam will also play and keep S well. So there goes a golden chance to develop a young Pakistani keeper…
