[VIDEOS] PCB omits Fakhar Zaman from Central Contract list for 2024-25 - What message does this send to Pakistan's top players?

Was the PCB justified in dropping Fakhar Zaman from the central contracts list?

Only has himself to blame, he was used a pawn by the agents behind saya corp. First to push the NOCs for leagues, guess who else was denied playing overseas leagues, Babar, Rizwan, Shaheen all three were denied leagues as they were deemed crucial also.

Fakhar was used to make the point as the other three were captaincy candidates, also shaheen was already burnt by Babar once before.

There was nothing stupid in that tweet tbf, he was just sharing his opinion.

It was unprofessional, you rarely see active players from other teams publicly criticizing their management or showing open support for teammates who have been benched. Such actions are typically avoided because they can create internal conflicts, disrupt team unity, and draw unnecessary public scrutiny. Most players understand the importance of handling team matters privately to maintain a cohesive environment and avoid potentially undermining the decisions of the selection staff or management.

Shahid Afridi speaking during a media interaction:

"Fakhar Zaman has always been a match-winner for me. The Pakistan team lacks match-winners, but I've always considered Fakhar Zaman as one. When you are signing the central contract, there are many things to be considered so you have to be careful. The role of the board is always like that of a father so they should call the players and talk to them. Any decisions should be communicated one-on-one, not through the media. He has a maximum of three or four years left of cricket, so his talent should be utilized.”

The lobby in PCB got active when Babar & Rizwan refused the betting logo's.

Players where made insecure when Shadab got the captaincy for AFG series.

A rift was created between Babar & SSA, due to which Babar tried to kept his allies in the team.

Babar brand is destroyed by Board officials.

Most of the players are not fully fit.

Fakhar Zaman is being victimized.

PCB Chairmans had their own agendas for certain players.

First, he said that it was a tweet that got him in trouble and now he is saying all authority is given to selectors.

-----------------------------

Mohsin Naqvi speaking during a media interaction about Fakhar Zaman's future:
“The selection committee will decide who will be included or omitted from the team. I have never requested for player’s inclusion or exclusion, the committee is fully empowered, and I have complete confidence in it.”

Our ODI batsmen in last 1 year and 10 months....

Fakhar:
4 ODI hundreds. All other batsmen: 5 hundreds.

Fakhar: Better S/R than Babar. Almost same S/R as the new captain.

Fakhar: 2nd highest batting average.

Stats are sometimes misleading and doesn't give you full analysis. If you again analyze these stats, Fakhar scored 864 runs in his last 20 matches and out of these 524 runs came from his 4 hundreds against NZ (101, 117, 180", 126"), 1 in WC and 3 in home ODI Series and his 50's average is because of these scores. Now, if you see in remaining 16 matches he just scored 340 with an average of 21.25. I know not everyone can score in every game but you can't build your international career only with few big scores, CONSISTENSY is more important

He is the only Batsman in ODI history for Pak who has an an average of 45 and SR of 90 plus. Also his career average has never fallen below 45.

He’s clearly not consistent . ..

Fakhar is omitted but Haris Rauf's stink is firmly embedded into the central contract. Tells you all about how the PCB work.

We can't be compared to other cricketing boards, the circus that is going on here is nowhere to be found in the world of cricket.

No tweet yet from Babar’s account in support of Fakhar?

Wonder how Babar can live with himself knowing that Fakhar is out of the team because of him.

As someone pointed out, if every player openly voiced their displeasure with each other, it would quickly become a chaotic circus. Right now, management is simply keeping the "clowns" in check to prevent that.

If Fakhar is allowed to share his frustrations publicly, then everyone else should be free to express their own as well.

Then imagine how may tweets you would see each day then that would be a circus

lets bring back Sarfraz too, he was the captain of that team. Amir was the the highest wicket taker.
Amir wasn't even top 10 wicket takers in that tournament.

Hasan got 13 wickets in 5 games.
Junaid got 8 wickets in 4 games.

Amir picked up 5 wickets in 4 games

Hearing/reading some disgusting reports of how a PCB official and the PR agency worked together to fire that tweet in order to kick Fakhar out of the race for captaincy so that the Saya top dog gets the job instead

Gut wrenching. Why are these people who portray themselves as the most pious people on earth doing things that are just so so dishonest?

What has happened to our cricket? It’s beyond revival!

An utter disgrace to disguard a player of Fakhar s calibre over a tweet expressing his opinion, then lying about fitness, then switching to selectors choose players to shift the blame from himself.

What a fake crony PCB "chairman".

This dictatorship attitude is the bane of all problems within the PCB.

There is no cricketing justification for Fakhar not receiving a central contract which is the primary reason for getting one in the first place.

The circus clown show continues following Kirsten s resignation.

Agree. I was shocked that Fakhar was omitted from the contract list.

It is like South Africa not giving a contract to Klaasen. Unthinkable.

Now that is just a little too much - even for a conspiracy theory.

Only two simple points in response to what you said:

1. We have 9 main cricket boards (Eng, Aus, Eng, NZ, Pak, Ind, SAF, SL and WI). How cricket boards (selection committees) will keep an opener in the team because of 4 big 100s in 20 ODIs and how many will drop that opener because he averaged only 22.66 (not 21.25) in other 16 matches? Be very honest.

2. In your attempt to undermine Fakhar's 4 100s, you forgot to look his 4 MoM awards. How many other great cricketers (that you want to keep in the team) won more than even 2 MoM awards? I don't have to remind you that other 10 players were also playing in the same matches, same grounds and against same oppositions.

Sad to see SSA and Haris Rauf still in the squad, these clowns need to be dropped ASAP...

Babar should be given an ultimatum, perform or go back to domestic.. No one is bigger than the team...!!

No fakhar means aussie whitewash coming up.

Saim, Abdullah, Babar and Rizwan make a hilarious top order

That how average works. Is an “average” of scores. If you dissect the average or any player, that’s exactly what you will find. Can you find me a player who averages 40 and scores between 30 and 50 runs every game? What you’re referring to is variance/standard deviation is high, but that’s not something teams care about as much.

As ever PCB about to take a U turn, Fakhar may join Pakistan team anytime

I have already replied to you above but here is question to you...

I have posted Fakhar's last 20 ODI record in this screenshot.... this is the same record you want him to be dropped from the team and said, we need to move on.

I am comparing Fakhar's last 20 ODI record with first 20 and first 66 ODI record of the same player from another country.
Based on your opinion about Fakhar's record in last 20 ODI, don't you think the cricket board should have dropped pathetic first 20 and even first 66 ODIs?
Guess what, the cricket board did not drop him, and that player went on to play 300+ ODIs.
I will let you guess who that player is/was. :)

Well as I said earlier stats doesn't give full picture but still your points cannot be denied as they are also correct up to quite an extent. I was personally disappointed with his tweet which by an active player is not expected as they are bounded by code of conduct of PCB

He is not a kid that someone will force him tweet from his account.

He is not a kid that someone will force him tweet from his account.
And what would stop Fakhar from immediately making a statement to plead his innocence if he didn't tweet it?

But of course that doesn't make sense, certain posters live in la la land with their fangirl like obsession to Rizwan so Saya forced the tweet from Fakhar's mouth and then forced him to not speak out.

As per reports:

PCB has adopted a more conciliatory approach, indicating a willingness to resolve Fakhar Zaman's issue amicably. Following the show-cause notice, Fakhar reportedly submitted a clear and concise response, clarifying his position.

The PCB's shift towards a logical resolution, coupled with national team captain Mohammad Rizwan's support for Fakhar's reinstatement, hints at a potential comeback pathway for the player. This development signifies a positive turnaround in Fakhar's relationship with the board, paving the way for a possible resolution in the coming days.

Ofcourse now everything is fine.

Saya has achieved its objective, they only needed to get rid of fakhar for a period of time

I suspect it's nothing much except a revenge being taken by Usman Wahla against Fakhar for bringing his incompetence to the Chairman.

Mr. Chairman says the matter of players is up with selection committee and they will deal with Fakhar situation. But the head of selection committee is Aqib Javed. A guy who backed Fakhar in times when whole world was against him. So who else could be in a powerful executive position pulling the strings if not Chairman and Aqib Javed?

The answer is Usman Wahla.

Stats give much solid, clearer and better picture than the mostly biased opinions.

The player in previous post was Sachin Tendulkar. When I posted Sachin's first 20 ODIs and first 66 ODI stats, I was not comparing stats.... I was comparing the opinions and the decisions based on those opinions i.e.

In BCCI's opinion, Sachin was worth keeping in the team with much worse performance than Fakhar.
But in your opinion below, Fakhar should be dropped because his performance in last T20 was not up to your standards so we should move forward without Fakhar.

Okay I concede. You are right on this

I read somewhere on social media that Fakhar did not even knew that the tweet was done from his twitter account. This news is pretty hard to believe.

A contracted player cannot be saying such stuff. He was right and supporting babar but he was still under contract by PCB so there are something he should be respecting first.

That doesn’t sound too outlandish. Fakhar is an uneducated guy who probably can’t even read the tweet that came out of his handle, so he obviously didn’t do it himself. A lot of these social media managers do post without the player’s approval and this is where the problem lies with the player.

One misstep on social media can cause a lot of damage so these players need to fully monitor what is being posted by their representatives.

Then how come Babar didn’t share his opinion by tweeting in support of Fakhar? It was a stupid tweet because as a contracted player, you shouldn’t be publicly criticizing your board.
He would have done the same had Fakhar's tweet didn't face such backlash from the board. After all its their PR team tweeting.

One year today since one of the ATG all time World Cup knocks , where Fakhar did what no Mai ka laal can do in a Pakistan shirt . Of course we will miss him.

Are we missing him?

What’s the latest, is the situation resolved, will we see him in Australia?

It’s such a damn shame, would love to see him on these pitches. Plus would free up Saim Ayub as well I think.

In any case it is too severe a punishment to not only keep him out, but not even give him a central contract. This one man has been literally carrying the ODI team on his back for so many years now, the only man who understands the format in the year of our lord 2024.

Disgusting.

Iron Sheikh spit from me.

It's unbelievable how quickly every move by this pathetic board comes back to bite them.

Naqvi looking like a bigger idiot every passing day!

@Farabi lets disscus about fakhar Zaman here.

If fakhar was so good and better than Travis head than why he was dropped during World cup 2023? :kp

Any player can be dropped/rested. Even Rohit Sharma has been dropped before. Who cares
He was not rested but dropped .

And he is dropped from team not just for once but for uncountable times .

Rohit was never dropped from team after becoming opener post 2012 .

It’s such a desperate argument that I don’t think it’s worth my time. I am not sure what you’re trying to say? Are you saying Fakhar is not one of the best ODI batters in the world right now? What’s your point?

It is very unusual for Pakistan to have this sort of headache, but what number does Fakhar return in the ODI XI. I appreciate Abdullah & Saim have a tiny sample size as a good opening pair.

I see 3 options:

1. Fakhar opens and one of Saim and Abdullah move to number 3. This also means that Babar & Riz move down a slot.

2. Fakhar bats at no.3. This means also that Babar & Riz move down a slot.

3. Fakhar bats at no.5. This causes least disruption to team combination and you have an x-factor in the middle order.

What should team management go with?

I don't see the point in unsettling the middle order.

It's fairly simple, Fakhar opens the batting with Saim. Abdullah had a pretty good series but he does not make the playing eleven over Fakhar or Saim.

I also don't want to tinker with the rest of the batting order. Agha should be at No. 6. At 5, you can have Ghulam or Saud. 7 you can go with Irfan or Aamir Jamal.

It's better to have multiple guys for specific positions than unsettling guys who are already established in their positions like Fakhar, Babar, Rizwan and to an extent, Agha as well.

Fakhar opens with saim

Ghulam can be replaced by shafique at 5

Although I'd rather have saud shakeel because in subcontinent he's very good against the spinners

But we don't need ghulam since he cannot play pace bowling just bench him rotate him or give him chances in the shaheen squad to gain some experience and when his chance comes he can play if misbah and that chacha can play into the late 40s , time is still there for kamran.

Dont see why such a destructive batsmen like fakhar should be discarded an on song fakhar is an absolute beast who can singlehandedly win a game.

Not sure about Shafique at 5, but Saud is a good option.

At the end of the day its simply about playing your best team. And Saud is just a far better batter than Ghulam. Nothing against Ghulam, he has done pretty well and earned his spot in the side. But he should not be playing over Saud. Asian conditions or otherwise.

Abdullah is an opener and should be used as such. If Fakhar is injured or Saim is badly out of form then there is no reason why he can't slot back in.

and ur highest six hitter is not even in the central contract.

Then why did you remove him from central contract?

How does our best ODI opener since Saeed Anwar not get into this shambles of a team ? How does he not even get a central contract ?

Fakhar on one knee is better than this habitually failing opening pair of Abdullah Shafique and Saim Ayub.

The tweet was bad but fine him and move on. This is clearly revenge for his blunt remarks at the Connection Camp. Shame on PCB and their dirty politics.

Pakistan is poor at talent management. This is how they killed Umar Akmal’s career.

So it doesn’t seem like PCB’s stance on Fakhar has changed, maybe he will make an appearance in the CT mid-way when Pakistan are on the brink of an exit or something

There’s the tour of SA & tri-series at home against NZ & SA, the two final pit-stops before the CT. If he is not in the plans for these matches, fair to say they don’t want anything to do with him. He is the first name on the team sheet but as always with PCB, they have to resort to the extreme when it comes to their pathetic administration.

Rumors are he will be part of team for SA t20i and odis

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ahmed Shehzad criticized the PCB for the omission of Fakhar Zaman from the squad:

"You’ve dropped Fakhar Zaman again. Listen to me, we even supported PCB on this matter, agreeing that as a centrally contracted player, Fakhar shouldn’t have done certain things. But look at what you’ve done — you’ve punished him so harshly, as if the previous punishment wasn’t enough. What’s next? Are you planning to hang him? Champions Trophy is coming up, and he’s your ace player in ODIs. Instead of giving him confidence, you’ve sidelined him."

"What fitness are you talking about? Did Noman or other players pass their fitness tests? You’re lying and fooling the public. You’ve been extremely unfair to Fakhar. Dropping him again is not just an injustice to him but also to the nation and the team. He’s the only player who can give you a chance in ODIs. If you don’t play him now, then when will you?"

"It seems like PCB is taking out its frustration or the selection committee is just acting as a puppet, like those before them. If they continue working like this, then you might as well sideline them too, just as you’ve done with other employees."

PCB will regret theiur decision not to add Fakhar for SA tour because he is the only one who can play pace and bounce confidently.

What the PCB and Aqib Javed are doing with Fakhar Zaman is criminal. Best and most clutch white-ball batter we have and these clowns with their fragile egos are content with just letting him sit on the sidelines, with the CT just on the horizon. And why? Because he said something that bruised your ego?

If Aqib Javed or PCB had any guts they would atleast admit that they are punishing him for the tweet rather than lying that he has fitness issues. If he had fitness issues why would he be playing in the Champions T20 Cup?

Pakistan cricket has no bigger enemy than the people running it.

There you go

Pakistan’s number 4 now back in form as an opener
