Gulbadeen in the press conference: "Hum to dube hai sanam; tujhe bhi leke dubenge. (We are drowning dear, but we will take you with us.)"

:bhajji

Bangladesh are 4-3 ahead in the head-to-head between the two sides in ODIs, but if you throw in T20Is, Afghanistan are 6-5 ahead.

Looks like Afghans think they can beat BD and is their big winnable rivalry.

What say BD fans?

Epic statement. People can hate them as much they want but they are confident bunch who are very dangerous side

Absolutely detestable board and team are Afghanis. They can barely make runs above 150.

Afghanistan has better spinners than us so they will start as favorites against us. Love their confidence, great characters.

I don't like the Afghanistan team in general but I like this guy. I like his witty replies.

Most entertaining press conferences at the World Cup = Gulbadain Naib.

Love it!

This isn't arrogance, just sheer wit.

I wish more captains spoke like this.

Jeez. So many snowflakes. He's saying as a joke. Even if he had said that to pak I would still find it pretty funny.

Cricket needs such characters if the game has to grow we need more of these.

Kudos to Afghani brothers for being such good sport..

Hum to doobay hain sanam, tujhe bhi lekay doobaingay - I showed the video to my folks and my brothers, we all had a good crack.

No way their batting is rubbish how you could consider them favorites against Bangladesh
I Shakib and Mushfiq plays spin well

BD is a much better team than AFG. If AFG win it will be an upset.

You can't fault these Afghans for being under confident can you? :yk

If Afg do end up winning it'll be the end of BD's WC.

True. Makes a change from:

"We are preparing well for this game. We just need to execute our roles bla bla".

Should be an interesting game especially if the surface is dry.

Nothing wrong in what he said. Other team feel and think exactly the same but they are quite diplomatic in expressing that. He is genuine.

Probably the best line he could have said - well done. Indeed they can take us with them :( and they have got the best wicket to do so.

As a pak fan, i should be supporting afghans, as bangladesh can still qualify for semis and are a threat to us qualifying!

But i can't!
Bangladesh have been brilliant this wc and i am supporting my bangla bros all the way!

COME ON GREEN TIGERS!

I am supporting rain for this contest. Not interested in watching 2 sides with poor pace attacks.

What an appropriate sentence to utter. But Bangla batters are harder to control than rigid Indians. Even on this pitch.

Bangladesh should win easily. Only chance Afghanistan have is to bat first getting about 250 or something.

It was a witty remark.

Generally I would expect Bangladesh to beat easily, but these conditions suit their spin attack and they just played here a couple of days ago. We need to bring our A game against the Afghanistan. We can't afford to drop points against them if we want to qualify for the semis.

However, i do think they are overconfident at times. Afghanistan have 0 points so far, Bangladesh has 5. Nabi said yesterday that "Afghanistan are favourites". Funnily enough, he said the same thing before the last world cup where they lost by 105 runs to us. Confidence is good, overconfidence is not. Not saying Afghanistan can't beat us.

BD are led by an inspirational captain while as AFG team is full of jokers and arrogant people

Lmao :)))

Lets see if they are able to play fearless cricket, pressure will be on BD.

Seems the Afghan captain meant what he said!

Lol if anyone thought afg was beat bang they were deluded the odds were -360 in favour of Bangladesh which shows there was no competition at all

Afghans are still minnows who need to develop professional manners a lot. Comment by Naib was just funny and nothing offensive though.

These kind of statements are exactly why Afghanistan is all talk no show. Clowns.

Gulbadin Naib what a kock, 57 runs from 35 balls in the must win game for Afghanistan in 2nd T20I against India, he has bossed with bat at Indore.

A knock to remember in his career.

Gulbadin Naib has announced himself to the world as a top-order batter. He scored unbeaten 55 off 23 in the 3rd T20I against India while chasing a mammoth total of 212/4. He did it for Afghanistan in style as the match has tied, with Afghanistan finishing at 212/6. What a player he is!

Gulbadin Naib may open the innings in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, following his impressive performance in the warm-up game against Scotland, where he scored 69 off 30 balls as an opener with a remarkable strike rate of 230.

Not a bad option

Ibrahim Zadran should bat at 3

They are already doing better than Pakistan if we look at the conditions they play in. Their strength will be tested against top sides for sure but surely, they are the best ones out of the likes of Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, Ireland, Scotland, and other Asian nations.

Naib is surely one of the guy who is doing well for his country atm. Good athlete overall. Can bat, can bowl and a good fielder as well.

I think he has repeated the same words again today by beating Australia "Hum to dube hai sanam; tujhe bhi leke dubenge. (We are drowning dear, but we will take you with us.)"

Gulbadin Naib is awarded the POTM award after his stunning 4/20 played a key role in sealing a famous victory for Afghanistan against Australia in the ICC T20 World Cup.

What a fit guy is. Infact every Afghanistan looks very fit. Athletic. No hanging bellies. May be Nabhi. But he is old.

Naib fined for breaching ICC Code of Conduct

Afghanistan player Gulbadin Naib has been fined 15 per cent of his match fee for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the second T20I against Zimbabwe in Harare on Friday.

Gulbadin was found to have breached Article 2.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “showing dissent at an Umpire’s decision during an International Match.”

In addition to this, one demerit point has been added to Gulbadin’s disciplinary record, for whom it was the first offence in a 24-month period.

The incident occurred in the 11th over of Zimbabwe’s innings, when an LBW appeal against Tashinga Musekiwa was turned down off the bowling of captain Rashid Khan. Gulbadin showed dissent by bowing down for a mock prayer and appealed for a review when DRS was not available in the match.

Naib admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by Andy Pycroft of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, so there was no need for a formal hearing.

On-field umpires Langton Rusere and Forster Mutizwa, third umpire Iknow Chabi and fourth umpire Percival Sizara laid the charge.

Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand, a maximum penalty of 50 per cent of a player’s match fee, and one or two demerit points.
