Who is Muhammad Imran? Batsman or bowler? What are his stats? I thought naseem Shah would be first puck

Really happy for umair masood i think he will start as he is the only keeper , hope he scores big

Really good squad. Right up there with The Sixth Team :babar. And now they have so many options with the bat. Agha Salman, Haris Sohail, Corey Anderson, De, Villiers and even Anton Devcich for middle-order

Strong Squad

My team out of this would be:

Fakhar Zaman
Mohammed Hafeez
Haris Sohail
AB De Villiers
Brendan Taylor
Umair Masood
Corey Anderson
Carlos Brathwaithe
Yasir Shah
Shaheen Afridi
Rahat Ali

Very good picks this time. Umair Masood, Gauhar Ali, Mohammad Imran and Harris Rauf are all promising talents. Only issue is that Hafeez will be captain and probably he won't give much chances to both Agha Salman and Harris Sohail. My XI will be:

1. Fakhar Zaman
2. Mohammad Hafeez
3. Agha Salman
4. De Villiers
5. Umair Masood (wk)
6. Sohail Akhtar
7. Corey Anderson
8. Carlos Brathwaite
9. Shaheen Afridi
10. Harris Rauf
11. Yasir Shah

Every Team Plays with 4 Foreign Players

I really hope Lahore Qalandars will make Fakhar Zaman the captain of the team rather than Mohammad Hafeez or Ab de Villiers.

All bases covered this time around.

They can actually make number of combinations unlike last year where they couldn’t have made a single decent combination.

I really hope Lahore Qalandars will make Fakhar Zaman the captain of the team rather than Mohammad Hafeez or Ab de Villiers.

Read on another thread here that Hafeez is captain. Don’t know if it is true.

Strong batting, but a very, very weak bowling line up.

Except for Shaheen, they have no other quality paceman and the spin department is very weak, in addition the emerging picks are very weak and one of them have to play in the 11.

Yasir isn't a T20 spinner and did well in some games, but nothing much else to talk about.

Good squad. They needed an accumulator like Haris in the middle order and Hafeez further strengthens the team

Hafeez strengthens their team and isn't a bad choice for captain. But if I were Lahore, would have gone for Misbah. They need a strong captain to overturn their fortunes and Misbah might have been the one to do it even if he didn't standout as a player.

When confidence is low given repeated poor performances in PSL, not sure you want a guy like Hafeez to turn things around, he's not really the calming influence that you need.

Fakhar Zaman
Hafeez
Haris
AB
Umair Masood
Corey Anderson
Sohail Akhtar
Braithwaite
Hassan Khan/Haris Rauf
Sandeep
Shaheen Afridi

Gauhar Ali.

I would like to see them go with this first.

01. Fakhar
02. Akhtar
03. Hafeez (c)
04. De Villiers
05. Corey
06. Masood (+)
07. Braithwate
08. Sandeep
09. Shaheen
10. Yasir
11. Rahat

Haris can come in at 3 or 4, if Hafeez opens with Fakhar.

Is he the batsmen or the bowler?

If Gauhar Ali is the bowler in the video. :danish

All round they seem like a strong team especially in batting. They are probably the favourite to win the tournament. Will be interesting to see who is made captain. I would like to see Fakhar but think it will be Hafeez.

They have already announced M Hafeez as their captain

One fast bowler short of being a great squad. Need to switch Rahat with Cheema early in the season. Haris Rauf also should have been there pick in the emerging category ahead of Umair Masood.

Look a lot stronger this time around.

Hafeez as skipper should get the best out of the Pakistani players.

I spoke with a LQ source who said Devcich, Brathwaite, Taylor and Lamicchane will all travel to Pakistan if required.

HUGE pay day for AB at Pakistan Super League draft

Cape Town - Former Proteas skipper AB de Villiers had the honour of being the first pick at Tuesday's player draft for the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

De Villiers was drafted by the Lahore Qalanders.

The second pick of the draft, meanwhile, saw former Australian captain Steve Smith snapped up by the yet-to-be-renamed franchise, previously called the Multan Sultans.

De Villiers is expected to pocket anywhere between $140 000 (R1.97 million) and $200 000 (R2.81 million), according to figures provided on the Pakistan Super League website.

De Villiers, categorised as a 'Platinum' player, retired from international cricket earlier in the year and is currently playing in the Mzansi Super League (MSL).

The PSL, meanwhile, will take place from February 14 to March 17, 2019.

De Villiers will then play in the Indian Premier League (IPL), starting on March 29.

This means Anderson and de Villiers are jut not coming.

Would love to see de Villiers in Pakistan somehow.

you putting in two keepers out there Taylor and Umair and snapping up the space of haris rauf the death over deadly bowler.

According to Sameen Rana interview yesterday, Carlos Braithwaite will be playing the Pakistan leg of PSL this season. Also he said that negotiations with AB are still going on to convince him to play in Pakistan and he hasn’t declined it yet. Sameen also advised that so far not a single foreign player has advised LQ management that he won’t be coming to Pakistan.

Qalandar Fans, so after AB coming to Pakistan and playing all matches how do rate now Qalandars chances to make it to playoffs? I believe this team should qualify for playoffs this year around.

He'll play the group stage only and yea the chances have increased quite a bit TBH.

Was listening to hafeez in on tv and he said the emerging player will be either haris or imran .according to him they will prefer taylor and gahuar ali as a wicket keeper .umair masood will be as 3rd option .

Bad news umair masood won.t get single game unless may be injury to keeper

I don't see the logic of playing 2 games in lahore only. May be he knows LQ not gonna qualify for Karachi any how? :)

He'll get us to playoffs for sure! Then we should carry on the winning trend from the group stages to lift the trophy!

My 11:
Fakhar Zaman
Anton Devcich
Mohammad Hafeez
AB de Villiers
Agha Salman
Corey Anderson
Sohail Akhtar/Hassan khan
Umair Masood
Sandeep Lamichhane
Harris Rauf
Shaheen Shah Afridi

Gohar Ali is better batsman than Umair in T20s. But the real question is, will Hafeez play Agha Salman ?

he might be but he is 29 and i don.t see he will play for pak.umair on the other hand is younger and should be groom for pakistan

it depend hafeez might misuse agha so his t20 spot is in no danger

So Lahore Qalandars have decided to stay with their 2018 kit - seems that the new designs didnt get that many votes

Below press release from LQ.
=====

From last 2 months Lahore Qalandars (LQ) engaged the youth from all over Pakistan and the world over to participate in designing Lahore Qalandars Kit for Pakistan Super League (PSL) 4.

The big idea was to engage the youth of Pakistan and let them take the ownership of the design which will be worn by famous cricketers of the world and will be showcased worldwide. We wanted to kick start the fever of PSL and many universities/colleges collaborated & supported us for our kit design campaign.

The registration process started on Lahore Qalandars official website and Official App from 3rd December till 24th December and we received around 500 designs which showed the love and support from our fans.

We engaged the famous designer Hassan Shehryar Yasin (HSY) to select the top designs to become Lahore Qalandars Official Kit. Out of the 500 designs that we received many resembled the official 2018 Kit therefore HSY suggested to include the LQ’S 2018 Kit for consideration as well.

After the selection of the designs, the top 10 designs were put up for voting process on Lahore Qalandars Official website. Fans from all over the world participated through voting and we received above 50,000 votes.

The most voted kit was announced by HSY on 16th January 2019. Lahore Qalandars 2018 Kit received the highest votes by securing 44.2% votes hence it will be Lahore Qalandars Official Kit for PSL 2019. The second kit with the highest votes was designed by Ali Maqsood from Kharian, student of Matric was given the promised ticket to Dubai.

Ali Maqsood from kharian.. From My hometown City . Proud of you dear kid. Carry on.

So LQ picked Saad Ali as 21st player, Hardus Viljoen and David Weise to replace missing days of Braithwaite, Anderson and AB.

Good choices apart they should have picked a proper Platinum level batsmen as AB replacement.

Any thoughts?

Lahore Qalandars – The heart of HBL PSL

Lahore, 2 February 2019:

If Lahore is the heart of Pakistan, then Lahore Qalandars are the heart of the HBL Pakistan Super League. Qalandars’ success-rate might be lower than other sides in the tournament but their popularity remains as high as any other team.

Some of the most exciting T20 talents have been part of the Qalandars in three editions of the tournament so far. They recruited Chris Gayle as an icon player in the first tournament in 2016 and acquired Brendon McCullum as captain for the next two editions. The results, however, have not gone in their favour.

After having to be content with the wooden spoon in each of the three seasons, Qalandars have undergone changes ahead of the HBL PSL 2019 in which they will feature in the tournament opener against defending champions Islamabad United on 14 February in Dubai.

Mohammad Hafeez, the former Pakistan captain, will lead the team in the upcoming tournament, replacing McCullum. Hafeez, with 33 matches, is the second most capped player in the HBL PSL and Qalandars will be relying on his experience as they look to break the shackles.

Hafeez said: “I have played in three editions of the HBL PSL in the past and I believe it is the most competitive league in the world. It is growing day by day in terms of attraction for cricket lovers.

“I think the upcoming edition will be the best as there are eight matches in Lahore and Karachi. We are excited about playing in front of home crowds. That day is not far when the whole league will be played in Pakistan.

“There is a huge responsibility on me as captain of Lahore Qalandars. It is a franchise that has played a big role in making HBL PSL popular.

“We will try our best to entertain the crowds in the coming season as well. I am very hopeful that we as a team will be successful in the coming tournament.”

The biggest addition in the Qalandars roster is AB de Villiers, the dashing batsman from South Africa, who will also be traveling to Lahore to feature in the two games at the Gaddafi Stadium.

De Villiers has over 7,000 runs in T20 cricket at a strike-rate of close to 150, which makes him one of the most sought-after players in franchise cricket. As recently as last week, he hit a 50-ball hundred in a T20 match in Bangladesh.

With Fakhar Zaman and Hafeez at the top and de Villiers, Anton Devcich, Carlos Brathwaite, Corey Anderson in the middle-order, Qalandars’ explosive batting roster will keep the opponent bowlers on their toes.

Qalandars’ another strength this time will be their spin bowling. The rising T20 sensation from Nepal and leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhanne was one of their major picks in the players draft.

The 18-year-old leggie will form a potent spin force with Yasir Shah and Hasan Khan, who in terms of economy-rates, are among the best spinners of the HBL PSL. With Hafeez also in the team, Qalandars could even test the opponents with 16 overs of spin in an innings.

Although victories have been hard to come by for Qalandars, they have produced some thrilling contests and can claim to be the most exciting team of the HBL PSL.

In the 2018 edition, two of their games, against Islamabad United and Karachi Kings, went into Super Over. They lost to United in Sharjah, but triumphed against arch-rivals Kings in the one-over eliminator in Dubai.

There have been some individual brilliances from their players as well.

In the 2017 tournament, Yasir nearly defended a small total of 59 against Zalmi when he took four wickets for just seven runs, whereas in the 2018 edition, 17-year-old-Shaheen Shah Afridi conjured a dream spell taking five wickets for four runs against Sultans.

The excitement of watching Qalandars will be even higher in the coming HBL PSL knowing that they will be playing at least two games, against United and Sultans, at the historic Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on 9 and 10 March.

Squad (in pick order):

Overseas: AB de Villiers (South Africa), Carlos Brathwaite (West Indies), Corey Anderson (New Zealand), Sandeep Lamichhanne (Nepal), Anton Devcich (New Zealand), Brendan Taylor (Zimbabwe).

Local: Mohammad Hafeez, Fakhar Zaman, Yasir Shah, Rahat Ali, Agha Salman, Sohail Akhtar, Hassan Khan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Sohail, Mohammad Imran, Maaz Khan, Gauhar Ali, Aizaz Cheema, Haris Rauf, Saad Ali.

Hardus Viljoen and David Wiese (both South Africa) as cover for AB de Villiers, Anderson and Brathwaite.

Pakistan’s most favorite PSL franchise Lahore Qalandars has taken another step towards promoting Pakistan’s positive image globally by joining hands with Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP), which is playing crucial role to promote Lahore’s tourism and portray the great potential of our cultural and historical beauty of Pakistan, especially through its project “Sightseeing Lahore Bus Service” (SLBS), which itself is an enjoyable and memorable experience.

With the aim to promote tourism through Cricket, the CEO of Lahore Qalandars – Mr Atif Rana met with Mr Ahmar Malik, the M.D of TDCP in Lahore on Thursday. Mr Ahmar Malik lauded Qalandars’ efforts to promote Pakistan’s culture and tourism through its cricket.

According to the initiative, Qalandars will arrange Lahore’s sightseeing tour in city’s famous and distinctive double-decker bus of TDCP for the visiting fans and cricketers during PSL. And, as first step, Qalandars will select 30 fans, through its #MainHoonQalandar campaign on Social Media for the tour taking place on Saturday evening.

“Lahore is full of culture and tradition and anyone visiting Lahore should see the city’s culture and landmarks. We are arranging such tours with TDCP to promote Lahore’s tourism. So, if you’re Qalandars’ fan then you can board with us on the special double-decker bus to see Lahori Culture,” said Mr Atif Rana.

“Lahore is Pakistan’s face and now Qalandars has become Lahore’s face. This year is going to be Lahore Qalandars’ year,” said Ahmar Malik who also praised Lahore Qalandars for steps towards promotion of tourism in country. It is worth mentioning that Lahore has previously promoted tourism in KP as well on sidelines of its player development program when it toured the beautiful Naltar and Hunza Valley last year. Qalandars aim to present a positive image of Pakistan, all over the world.

Lahore Qalandars team arrived in Dubai this morning. Total 14 players arrived for the camp. Captain Mohammad Hafeez will arrive later today directly from South Africa. Foreign players will be joining the team in next few days.

Press Release:
Injury update on Hafeez

Dubai: Qalandars captain Mohammad Hafeez got injured during Qalandars game against Karachi Kings on Saturday night.

Hafeez was taken to hospital for further scans and x-rays after the game.

Following an initial report, Hafeez has been advised rest for a few days. A timeline on his recovery will be known by further discussions with experts in due course.

Hafeez won’t be available for tonight’s game against Peshawar Zalmi but we are hopeful of his quick recovery.

“He is being rested for today’s game but we expect him to be with us on dugout soon,” said team manager Sameen Rana

In absence of Hafeez, AB de Villiers will lead Lahore Qalandars
