Mohammad Hafeez has also joined the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots.

Pollard XI beat Bravo XI in Selector Fan Cup

Pollard XI, led by Kieron Pollard, defeated Bravo XI, captained by Brian Lara, by 47 runs in the first-ever fan-driven cricket match at the Queens Park Oval where people from around the world dictated the action in the middle using The Selector App on their Mobile phones.

On Sunday, Pollard XI bowled the opponents out for just 84 in 19.1 overs in a chase of 132.

DJ Bravo, who was earlier expected to lead Bravo XI, picked up a niggle due to which he couldn''t participate, but intently followed the proceedings from the sideline. Lara was picked to lead in his absence, and even though the legend''s stay in the middle lasted only 27 balls, it was a treat for the fans to watch the great man return to the middle.

At the toss, Pollard won and agreed to the fans-decision to bat first on a slow, dry surface.

Pakistani pacer Mohammad Hasnain was picked by fans to open the bowling for Bravo XI. The youngster did a great job, giving away only nine runs in his 3.1 overs, and picking up a wicket. The pressure Hasnain built with his economic spell helped Javon Searles, his new-ball partner, dismiss Denesh Ramdin and Leonardo Julien in his first spell.

Mark Deyal (13) and Nicholas Alexis (11) consolidated for a bit, but Dexter Sween, DJ Bravo''s half-brother, unleashed a fabulous spell to peg them back once again. Sween had Deyal and Pollard (0) dismissed off back to back deliveries before going on to bag the wickets of Seekkugge Prasanna and Khary Pierre. He finished with exceptional figures of 4/32 in his 4 overs.

Jimmy Neesham, batting at No. 6, hit four boundaries in his knock of 26 off 19, with Jalarnie Seales (20 off 18) and Anderson Phillip (19 off 12) helping Pollard''s team post a competitive total.

In the second dig, it was Lendl Simmons and Isiah Rajah who were chosen by the fans to open the batting. Both, however, fell cheaply, with Pierre and Neesham sending them back inside the sixth over.

At No. 3, it was 50-year-old Lara who came out to bat and understandably found it difficult to get going straightaway.

Wickets kept tumbling at the other end with Amir Jangoo (4) and Tion Webster (3) also failing to get to double figures.

Lara played a classic late cut to get his first boundary in the ninth over, but the very next ball spun enough to come crashing through his defence. It was Russ Jaggesar who got his wicket, before cleaning up the middle and lower order with 3/17 in his 3.1 overs.

Pierre was the one who built the initial pressure on Bravo XI. The wily off-spinner gave just 7 runs in his four overs, his efforts including the solitary wicket of Simmons early on.

Neesham, freshly back from New Zealand''s heroic World Cup campaign, looked in great touch with the ball. He bagged 3/18 in four overs, getting the ball to zip around at a good pace.

Partnerships were missing in the chase, and apart from Javon Searles''s 31-ball 35, there weren''t many notable performances with the bat from Bravo XI. Pollard''s men capitalised on the situation and it was only a matter of time before they wrapped things up with five balls to spare.

Lara was the most popular (most voted-for) player in the game, and for his all-round show, Neesham was adjudged Man of the Match by the voters on The Selector App.

Brief Scores: Pollard XI 131 in 18.1 overs (Jimmy Neesham 26, Jalarnie Seales 20; Dexter Sween 4/32, Javon Searles 2/38) beat Bravo XI 84 in 19.1 overs (Javon Searles 35, Brian Lara 12; Jimmy Neesham 3/18, Russ Jaggesar 3/17) by 47 runs

JEROME TAYLOR TO REPLACE AMAD BUTT AT TALLAWAHS

The Jamaica Tallawahs have replaced Amad Butt with Jerome Taylor for the 2019 Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL) season. Butt is now no longer available due to domestic commitments in Pakistan.

Taylor has played for the Tallawahs in the past, as well as representing the St Lucia Zouks. The right-arm fast bowler has played 46 Tests, 90 ODIs and 30 T20 internationals for the West Indies, taking 291 wickets in international cricket. He has played in T20 leagues in India, England and Bangladesh and will now be, once again, representing his native Jamaica in the Hero CPL.

The Tallawahs start their CPL campaign against the Trinbago Knight Riders on Friday 6 September at the Queen’s Park Oval, Trinidad. They will play five matches at home at Sabina Park between 12 September and 19 September.

Mohamamad Hasnain he will only be available for the side's first three games. PCB have granted him NOC till September 12 so he will then return home for domestic duties.

Thanks for the update, was just wondering this. Any updates regarding Shadab Khan's NOC? As he should also be playing more 4 day cricket in my opinion.

His NOC is reported to be of the same length, so he should also return for the QEA Trophy.

Hasnain seems to be bowling quick. He's doing an alright job, but it is difficult to bowl, it's very greasy. Usama Mir is bringing it close for the Patriots.

Usama Mir is a good bowler and handy batsman. Better than Shadab in both aspects.

He should be given a chance in LOIs.

Decent debut game for both Hasnain (3-36 in 4) and Usama Mir (24 off 10 and 0-19 in 3 overs) for their respective teams.

3/36 for Hasnain, 16 for Hafeez , no wickets for Usama Mir

Do you know how fast Hasnain was? (and if he bowled any 150+ deliveries)

Was pretty quick, hurried batsmen on both front foot and back foot. Commies were pretty excited with his bowling and were calling him a real prospect.

He still needs to work on his seam position and how to control the ball with normal seam position as currently his seam position is wobbly as before not sure if intentionally because he cant control the ball or unintentionally. That swing or seam movement is the only thing missing from his weaponry but its pretty understandable as the he has just played couple of FC matches.

Hasnain's wickets.

Good game for Shadab (3 for 16 in 4 overs).

Watched the game Shadab was very good today picked up key wickets at the right time and helped his team win. He seems to bowl well in West Indies conditions

Shadab with 2 for 20 in his 4 overs vs patriots with wickets of Lewis and Hafeez and on to that an excellent catch in the outfield.

2/20 for Shadab, Malik 23*, Hafeez made 14 no wickets, Usama Mir no wickets 0 runs

He is a great prospect

Waqar Younis needs to guide him

Thats why I am happy pcb made waqar younis has been appointed as the head coach. He might polish the younger crop of bowlers like hasnain, haris rauf, shaheen shah afridi and hassan ali.

?

He bowled one over in the powerplay

Then he dropped one catch but caught the same guy very soon after...

His spell was poor though and the dropped catch was pretty bad too. Second catch was decent but didn't look confident catching it. Hopefully he will improve in the next match.

Malik and Shadab again tonight.

Great atmosphere esp with Pooran smashing them all over the park.

2/39 for Shadab and 1/5 for Malik - good outing for both

1/30 in 4 overs for Usama Mir - nothing special but guess one wicket would give him some confidence.

It's good to see that he is not only touching 150, but going well into the 150s. That's a true express pace bowler, lets hope by playing first class he can build some stamina to bowl fast throughout the day. He should be used as a short and fast burst bowler in first class cricket.

So Hasnain has just bowled his first over in the current ongoing match (Jamaica v Trinidad) and unfortunately he got smashed for 20 runs.

And the speed of his deliveries (in his first over):

147, 141, 142, 148, 149, 144

First time seeing Hasnain, he's getting smashed around the park.

Hasnain after two overs - 2/31

Speeds in his 2nd over:

140, 146, ? , ? , 144 , 148

Another one for Hasnain. Walton top edges to the keeper. 148 kph, rushed for pace and got extra bounce.

Is this ground really small? Every decent shot is going for six.

That was off the backfoot :))

It was a bad shot..

That guy tried to play a legside slog to the ball which was on the wrong line and length.

The surface is extremely flat. Very little margin of error. An economy of 10-12 seems to be good on it. TKR made 267

I really hope Phillips is the real deal, I saw him a couple years back and he looked like a T20 hack.

And a few days ago there was a 240 run match also. these T20 League matches are pretty ordinary but at least the NZ v SRL T20 Series was interesting and the BAN V ZIM Match yesterday wasn't bad.

Yeah, can't get into these franchise games at all. Can't believe they do so well, then again if we had a decent competition going in NZ, I probably would watch if there were international players and good quality cricket.

There has to be balance. Too many sixes and runs just gets boring. Put a bit of grass on the wickets or slow it up. Make the boundaries longer.

Hasnain after his third over - 2/37

(No speeds were shown for any of his deliveries for his third over)

Hasnain finishes with 2/50 (4 overs). Once again, he was expensive and got smashed. However, he was consistenlty bowling in the high 140s with his fastest delivery being 149 kph (he bowled a couple of deliveries at 149 kph).

In the context of the game, Hasnain's team was defending 267, and Hasnain bowled to Gayle quite a lot. Wasn't such a bad effort IMO, especially because he's the one who took two quick wickets when things were looking dangerous. Great to see him holding his nerve after getting smashed around by Gayle.

Yeah, I agree. I was actually hoping to see him playing in the QeA but for some reason he is still in CPL

Abdullah719 any footage of his spell please?

Usama Mir 4 overs, 1 maiden, 13 runs and 2 wickets
M Hafeez 26 in 22

Usama Mir as a surprise package for the T20 WC? I think we should go for a spin heavy attack.
