Asad Shafiq joins Multan Sultans

Lahore, 14 March 2020:

Pakistan international Asad Shafiq joined Multan Sultans’ camp as a silver category player on Saturday.

Quetta Gladiators included Omair bin Yousaf as an emerging player.

Asad’s and Omair’s inclusions were approved by the Event Technical Committee which includes PCB CEO Wasim Khan, Bazid Khan, Marina Iqbal, Sameer Khosa and Dr Sohail Saleem.

They relied too heavily on Ben Cutting, Shane Watson and Jason Roy and were let down by most of their local players who were extremely poor with both bat and ball.

Also it seemed some players were not going to be dropped even if they flopped again and again.

Look at the economy rates of Sohail Khan, Anwar Ali, Mohammad Nawaz.

Look at the averages of Azam Khan, Ahmed Shehzad.

The problem with some PSL teams is that it's foreign players or nothing and that means that if the foreign players don't perform in any match then the local players are incapable of seeing the team home and that is what happened with IU and QG this time around.

So he deserves credit for getting there. He deserves criticism for losing the finals.

They have had best spinners in all seasons, which really helped them win in UAE but it hasn't been the case in Pakistan where pitches haven't provided same assistance as in UAE. Also Quetta haven't shown enough faith in their spinners, Fawad didn't play many games, Aarish didn't even play a game and Nawaz, who has mostly been good in PP in previous seasons didn't bowl many overs in PP this year.

QG's batting has always been full of mediocrity apart from foreigners who have always pulled them out of trouble, so letting Rilee go was a terrible decision.

Azam was a disaster, won them a game but cost them a lot in other games, Cutting wasn't utilised properly in batting and Shehzad was disastrous as usual and Ahsan was poor as well.
