Pakistan pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi is reportedly set to get engaged to former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi's eldest daughter Aqsa Afridi. As per reports in Pakistan media, Shaheen's family had sent the proposal which has been accepted by Shahid Afridi's family. Both Shaheen and Shahid Afridi's daughter Aqsa are 20.

As per a report in mediam Shaheen's father Ayaz Khan confirmed to the media that both families, who have longstanding relations, have agreed to the proposal. A formal engagement is expected to be announced soon. The report further adds that a source from Shahid Afridi's family revealed that the proposal was in discussion for the last two years.

The confirmation from the Pakistan pacer's family has come after speculations were rife on social media over the duo's engagement. Afridi has been blessed with five daughters, namely Aqsa, Ansha, Ajwa, Asmara, and Arwa. Aqsa, 20, is the eldest among the five.

Shahid Afridi, who is a celebrated figure in Pakistan, is expected to make a formal announcement soon from his side. Talking about Shaheen, he made his international debut for Pakistan in April 2020, in a T20I game against West Indies. The left-arm pacer has come a long way since then and has established himself as a vital cog in the Pakistan national side across formats.

Shaheen impressed with his pace and accuracy early on in his career and was fast-tracked into the national side. He has since become an important member of the side and has been performing well for the Men in Green. The left-arm pacer has so far played 15 Tests, 22 ODIs, and 21 T20Is for Pakistan.

He has 48 wickets in Test matches and 45, 24 in ODIs and T20Is respectively. Shaheen recently became the youngest pacer to reach the milestone of 100 wickets in T20 cricket. He surpassed Jasprit Bumrah, who achieved the feat at the age of 23 years and 57 days.

Fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi will "soon" be engaged to former skipper Shahid Afridi's daughter, it emerged on Saturday night.

Shaheen Afridi's father, Ayaz Khan said that the family had asked Shahid Afridi for his daughter's hand in marriage and had received a positive response.

He said that an engagement ceremony will "soon" will take place.

According to Ayaz Khan, the two families have "long-standing ties".

There was a funny video years back where Afridi's daughter (then a small kid) was blaming Misbah for some decision making in a media conversation. If this the same daughter, then Shaheen Shah Afridi better watch out :).

Congrats to the families but I don’t know how suitable this match is.

The upbringing Shahid Afridi’s daughter had (education [she went to a good middle and high school even if it seems no uni], luxury etc) and Shaheen had are very different. Surely there’s going to be a clash.
 
Are the both Afridi's related or is it just random from nowhere? Also considering that Lala's daughter is pretty young and still had time. In Pakistan when the marriage is within family then such matches at an early age are more common.

Anyway good news for both the families and wish both the parties all the best.
 
By the way it's Shahid's 2nd oldest daughter not the eldest one, which some media have thought it was.

He should've written 'for my daughter's hand in marriage'. 'For my daughter' sounds like she is a commodity or an inanimate object and a property transaction is being made between the two families.

Anyway, best of luck to the families. I was slightly concerned that she may be underage but given that she is 20, while still very young, I guess it's legal. Shaheen is probably 25 or so in reality so not a bad age for marriage.

His daughter has definately gone to the best possible private schools. He wants her to be involved with his foundation in a senior role
 
Afridis post is a little confusing, has he and his family agreed to the match? Do they want the guy and the girl to speak on the phone, social media and meet here and there before formally accepting things?

Agree. I found it a bit confusing too. "Both families are in touch, matches are made in heaven, if Allah wills this match will be made too." Sounds more like he's giving a live update from his drawing room.

It's always been 18 in most parts of the world, India is the only anomaly.
 
Just checked. Majority of countries have 18 or below. Just some subcontinent (India, Nepal, Bangladesh), Eastern/South Eastern (China, Philippines, Japan, Malaysia, etc.) and African countries have a higher legal age for boys.

In his current form he will struggle to hit a six with a walking stick. Jokes aside he will be the world record books if this happens, surely no other grandpa has played cricket at a high level. :wg

It almost seems as if someone leaked this news before the two families had reached a final decision or were ready to make it public. Both Afridi and Shaheen's tweets are a bit non-committal.

There is no such thing as privacy or confidentiality in Pakistan.

Not just Pakistanis. He has fans everywhere. Having SSA on those campaigns won't hurt though.

That was my first thought as well. But something like that can backfire when the bride's father is as influential as Afridi.

When Shaheen was asked whether Ansha feels jealous with his female fan following,

Shaheen's Female fan following?. No offence but he is hardly anything to look at! Only reason this marriage was arranged is because Shaheen is a Cricketer like Lala and a Pathan too.

Pakistan's star bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi is all set to tie the knot with Ashna Afridi, daughter of cricket legend, Shahid Afridi in an intimate ceremony. Shahid confirmed the news while speaking to Express News.

The all-rounder has shared that his daughter and the 22-year-old pacer will have their minimal nikkah according to the Afridi tribal traditions. The ceremony will take place in Karachi, with Rukhsati and the reception to be held at a later date.

Shaheen, after the nikkah, will travel to Lahore to participate in the upcoming installment of the Pakistan Super League and will rejoin the Lahore Qalandar squad. The bowler was ruled out of the England series due to injury and is currently in rehab.

Last year, Shahid announced the couple's engagement. The renowned player took to Twitter and addressed the ongoing rumours. "Shaheen's family approached my family for my daughter."

He went on to add, "Both families are in touch, matches are made in heaven. If Allah wills this match will be made too. My prayers are with Shaheen for his continued success on and off the field." Soon after, the youngster expressed his gratitude to Shahid and penned, "Alhumdulillah. Thanks, Lala for your prayers. May Allah SWT make things easier for everyone. Shahid Afridi too married at a very young age, same with Shaheen. I guess how young is Afridi's daughter... maybe 19 or 18 because Shaheen is only 22.
 
Shahid Afridi’s eldest daughter Aqsa tied the knot with Naseer Nasir in a nikah ceremony in Karachi on Friday.

Videos of the event, doing rounds on social media, showed star-pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi standing with Shahid. The former captain’s family and close friends were also in attendance.

The e-invite for the ceremony has been circulating on social media and featured the couple in white and yellow-themed clothes.

Just 10 days back, the news of Shaheen’s wedding with Shahid’s second daughter Ansha surfaced and the details were finalised. A source close to the Afridi family had confirmed that the nikah ceremony of Shaheen and Ansha will be held in Karachi on February 3, before the next season of the Pakistan Super League starts.

The source also revealed that the rest of the events will be held sometime later.

Pakistan speedster Shaheen Shah Afridi tied the knot with legendary all-rounder Shahid Afridi’s daughter, Ansha, on Friday.

The nikkah was solemnised at a local mosque in Karachi in presence of close relatives of both families.

The couple’s engagement had already taken place two years ago.

A reception was also held, soon after the nikkah, with squash legend Jahangir Khan and Pakistan cricketers Babar Azam, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Naseem Shah and Shadab Khan among the attendees.

Former DG ISPR Asim Saleem Bajwa and ICC General Manager Wasim Khan were also present on this occasion.

Earlier this year, while speaking on Geo News show “Aik Din Geo Kai Sath”, the left-armer revealed that it was his wish to marry Ansha.

"It was my wish and Alhumdulillah [thanks to Allah Almighty] it is fulfilled now," a blushing Shaheen told the interviewer Sohail Warraich.

When Shaheen was asked whether Ansha feels jealous about his female fan following, Afridi said he is not sure about it.

"I am not sure, maybe she feels something like that," the cricketer quipped.

Further, the host asked Shaheen about upsetting plenty of female fans by getting engaged at an early age.

At this, Shahen said: "I found my heart and that's enough for me."
