Virat Kohli is an admired cricketer all around the world and gathers fans in big numbers for himself wherever he goes. On Thursday, Virat Kohli was surrounded by two pitch invaders during the Day 1 of the first Test against the Windies at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot.

The pitch invaders were captured taking selfie with Virat Kohli, when he walked out to bat. The fans were later escorted out of the field by the security personnel.

Must say very lax security. The guys pretty much seem to take their time posing with Kohli

Where was security? That could've been anyone, for goodness sake

This is why they put steel fences in most sub-continental stadiums back in the day...

That was probably the most eventful thing that will happen this series. A true snorefest.

What else can you expect from Indian administration of the state of Gujarat..

Kohli didn't mind because they were the only 2 people who were watching him bat in the stadium. :inti

Plus there's the main coach, bowling coach, batting coach, fielding coach, physios, cheerleaders (Shastri) etc too. :genius

Not to forget the groundskeeper and his staff :genius

Big moment for the fans but it only takes one idiot.

Where was the security?

Probably the rarest and dariest selfies! Had it been in the World Cup!!

Shame on the Negative critical people!!

Players shouldn't be able to get onto the pitch so easily!

It's all fun and games until one of these looney tunes comes onto the field with the intent of hurting a player or personnel.

Instead of brushing this under the carpet Indian cricket council should look into this.

Ground security is a different thing. They make sure no one enters with lethal weapons

As much as it looks cool, its equally worrying. Imagine a person coming in with knife, gun or a bomb instead?

Yet again on Friday a fan managed to enter the field of play to click a selfie with India captain Virat Kohli during the ongoing second Test against West Indies in Hyderabad.

The fan broke the security cordon at the Rajiv Gandhi International stadium and reached Kohli, who was fielding at short mid-on, to click a picture with the superstar cricketer.

The incident took place at the end of the 15th over which caused a delay in proceedings as Ravichandran Ashwin waited to start his sixth over.

This is the second time in successive Test matches that a fan has interrupted play to click a selfie with Kohli after the incident in Rajkot, where two youngsters did the same with the Delhi batsman.

Live Cricket Score: India vs West Indies 2nd Test Day 1

As India dominated proceedings against the Windies on the first day of the Rajkot Test match, two young men rushed to the pitch to meet Kohli.

The two men ran on to the ground and tried to click selfies with Kohli, who was standing on the middle of the pitch.

On that occasion, Kohli posed for the photos for a second before the umpires intervened and asked them to go away as play had to be resumed. They were escorted off the ground by two security officials.

Kohli was unfazed by the abrupt stop of play and carried on after the incident as India piled on the misery on the West Indian bowlers. India manage to win that match by an innings and 272 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the 2-match series.

The interruption on Friday meanwhile, gave the umpires the opportunity to call for drinks with the West Indies score reading 40 for 1 (Kraigg Brathwaite 12*, Shai Hope 6*) after Jason Holder won the toss and opted to bat first.

The Windies lost the wicket of Kieran Powell in the 12th over as he tried to loft a delivery from R Ashwin over cover but mistimed the shot and got caught by Ravindra Jadeja instead.

Virat Kohli is arguably the most followed cricketer in the world right now and wherever the Indian captain goes, fans follow him. They turn out in huge numbers to watch him play irrespective of the venue. Kohli must also enjoy the love and attention he gets from the fans as long as everything stays within a limit. On Day 3 of the first Test against Bangladesh in Indore, an ardent Virat Kohli fan jumped a fence during a drinks break and ran on to the playing field. The fan, with "VK" and number 18 painted on his back, tried to touch the feet of Indian cricketers but soon the ground security caught up with him. Virat Kohli then put his arm around the fan's neck while requesting the security personnel to be gentle with the pitch invader.

The incidents of pitch invasion are on a rise in India. In most cases, the invaders cause embarrassment for the organisers, cricketers and often the viewers too.

On Day Three of the second Test between India and South Africa in Pune, a fan had breached the security cover.

Sunil Gavaskar, who was on the commentary duty at that time, raised concerns about the security of players after that incident.

"These incidents happen because security people are not watching the crowd but are watching the match. This has been the perennial problem in India. The security is not there to watch the match for free. They are there to stop such interruptions from happening," Gavaskar had said.

"I say put the camera on the security and check whether they are watching the match or the crowd. This is a dangerous security issue which is what you are there for, to make sure no one goes into the ground. Anyone can cause damage to a player. It has happened in the past, why take a chance," Gavaskar had added.

As far as the series in concerned, India crushed Bangladesh by an innings and 130 runs inside three days to take 1-0 lead in the two-match rubber on Saturday.

The second and final match is a day-night clash, with India hosting their first-ever pink-ball Test at Kolkata's Eden Gardens from November 22.

A fan on Wednesday breached the bio-bubble and security protocol on day one of the ongoing third Test between India and England at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad as he entered the field of play to meet India captain Virat Kohli. However, Kohli was quick to spot him from far away and he immediately took a few steps back, asking the fan to return. On realising his mistake, the fan turned back and seeing that the entire crowd started cheering.

As part of the bio-bubble protocols, there is a high amount of strictness and the players and match officials are not allowed to meet anybody. Even, the training sessions before the match are held with every precaution taken care of. 50 per cent crowd has been allowed in the ongoing pink-ball Test at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

When ANI contacted a GCA official about the fan breaching the protocols, he replied: "We will look into the matter and we will find out who the fan was. Some sort of action we will take as the matter is serious and safety of everyone is of utmost importance."

In the match, Ishant Sharma playing the 100th Test provided India with the first breakthrough and after the first wicket, the spinners took over the mantle from the pacer. Ravichandran Ashwin and Axar spun a web over visitors to bundled out them for 112 in the first innings.

India ended the opening day of the pink-ball Test against England in the driver's seat as Rohit hit a half-century to take the hosts at 99/3. India are trailing by 13 runs in the first innings with seven wickets in the bag.

After surviving the five overs in the tricky twilight phase and then battling out for 14.5 overs and India lost their first wicket off the last ball of the 15th overs when Jofra Archer dismissed Shubman Gill for a 51-ball 11. He skied an attempted pull to give Zak Crawley an easy catch. Minutes later, the hosts lost Cheteshwar Pujara as he was trapped in front by Jack Leach.

Meanwhile, Rohit continued his good form and completed his half-century. Rohit and Kohli also brought up the fifty-run partnership to steady the Indian ship after two quick wickets. But Leach struck again to break the 64-run stand for the third wicket as Kohli chopped the ball onto his stumps.

Where is security?

The ongoing second Test between India and Sri Lanka was halted abruptly for a while on Sunday following a security breach as the M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru. At the stroke of stumps on second day, three fans entered the field after dodging the security arrangement.

All of them dashed towards former Indian captain Virat Kohli. As reported by news agency PTI, one of the three fans managed to click a selfie with Virat Kohli before being whisked away by the security personnel.

The incident happened in the sixth over of the Sri Lanka’s chase of 447; when Kusal Mendis was getting attended by the team physio after being hit by a Mohammed Shami delivery. Sensing an opportunity to see their star player from close, three fans managed to breach the fenced area and ran towards the players.

One of them managed to get close to Kohli, who was standing in slip area. The fan took his mobile out and asked the senior batter for a selfie and Kohli, much to his delight, obliged. The security personnel rushed towards the players and, after a bit of jostle, managed to get control of the fans.

One spectator had also managed to enter the playing area during the first Test in Mohali.

Sri Lanka were 28/1 at stumps on Day 2 and needed 419 runs to beat India in the second and final Test. Resuming their second innings from 199/5 after the dinner break, India added 104 more runs in the third session before declaring on 303-9 in the second innings and setting a target of 447 runs for Sri Lanka to win.

Shreyas Iyer top-scored for India 67 while Rishabh Pant brought up the fastest Test fifty by an Indian off just 28 balls. On the other hand, spinner Praveen Jayawickrama was Sri Lanka’s highest wicket-taker with 4-78 while Lasith Embuldeniya picked three wickets (3/87).

Virat Kohli is someone who carries his emotion on his sleeves and never shies away from giving back his piece of mind to bowlers. On this occasion, the former India captain was spotted schooling a fan who allegedly bothered youngster Kamlesh Nagarkoti during the ongoing warm-up game against Leicestershire.

In a widely circulated video on social media, Kohli can be seen shutting down a supporter for his behaviour towards the young quick. The fan was continuously asking Nagarkoti for a picture. The 22-year-old Indian isn't a part of the squad but travelling with the team as a net bowler.

The fan mentioned that he had taken a leave from his job for the game and he deserved a picture with Nagarkoti. "I've been continuously asking for a photo. I came here after taking the day off from my office. So, I've been calling Nagarkoti to click a photo with me at least," he said. Kohli responded with, “He is here to play the match, and not to click photos.

Fans shouldn't be allowed to run on the pitch. It is a security risk.

Erect some type of netting maybe.

Young fan runs in to hug Rohit in the 2nd ODI

Apparently Rohit told security to let him go as he's just a kid

He would be the most popular kid in his school on Monday.

Problem is copycats.

Whilst this is great, Rohit also needs to say to all that this will not be tolerated

Sure, there will be copycats. Make this kid do some community service or make him write a 1500 word essay on why no one should do pitch invading.

Nothing heartwarming about this. Needs to be heavily disencouraged and a huge fine handed out to whoever is supposed to be supervising him.

Cricketers are at risk in the WC if a child can bypass stadium security and get within touching distance of a player. There are no shortage of extremists in India.

Problem for the player is he walks away and he gets bad press.

Only a matter of time before a very serious incident occurs.

Age of the pitch invader should not be an excuse. There WILL be one day when something bad will happen and there will be extreme measures taken for a long time until people forget it ... repeat///

There has to be a fine or some other punishment for pitch invaders - without a deterrent, this will continue.

Another worrying incident

Bigger issue is that India media don't think this is a problem!

New Delhi: Mohammed Shami's humble gesture in the ongoing 2nd Test at Arun Jaitley Stadium has won fans' hearts. The incident happened during the match when a fan breached security and entered the ground trying to meet the players; the security staff caught him, started dragging him off the ground, and even slapped him.

Here is when the Indian pacer comes to the scene and asks the security persons to be kind to him and take him off humbly.
The fan could not meet any of the cricketers as he was caught off before reaching any of them. Shami's humble gesture went viral on social media, and people called him the man with a heart of gold.

Another one in India - security so lax

New Delhi: A fan breached the Ekana Sports City Stadium's ground to touch the feet of RCB's star batter Virat Kohli during the IPL 2023 clash between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Lucknow Super Giants. The fan also received a hug from the modern-day great before leaving the ground the video of this incident is now going viral on the internet.

A fan ran onto the field just to hug Virat Kohli during the 2nd T20I between India and Afghanistan.

Man Hugs Virat Kohli During 2nd T20I vs Afghanistan, Detained For Security Breach

After a hiatus of more than 14 months, Team India's talisman batter Virat Kohli was back in T20I colours on Sunday, playing a handy knock to help his team beat Afghanistan in the second T20I in Indore. The crowd inside the Holkar Stadium gave a special ovation to Kohli everytime he touched the ball or collected a boundary. While no one has ever doubted Kohli's intent and desire while batting, the former India captain came out to bat with a different mindset as India blew away Afghanistan in a rather chilly evening in Indore.

Striking at 181.25, Kohli raced his way to 29 off just 15 balls before a mistimed shot ended his innings prematurely. He cracked five fours during his stay in the middle before being caught at mid-off.

While fans were chanting his name throughout the game, a fan seized his opportunity to meet Kohli as he ran inside the outfield while Kohli was fielding near the boundary.

The fan hugged Kohli and the star batter made his day by embracing him too. Pictures of the same moment has gone viral on social media. The incident happened in the 18th over.

However, the fan was detained for breaching security arrangements.

After detaining him, cops took the young man to Tukoganj police station.

A police official said that the youth had a ticket for the match and entered the Holkar Stadium from Narendra Hirwani Gate.

He said that the young man seemed to be a big Kohli fan and entered the ground by climbing the fence of the spectators' gallery with the desire to meet the player.

The officer said that the youth was being interrogated.

Listen to the latest songs, only on JioSaavn.com

Further steps will be taken in the case on the basis of interrogation, the official said.

Virat Kohli requested security personnel to be gentle with the fan who touched his feet & hugged him.

And another one

Security very lax on Indian grounds it seems.

This happened on Day 1 of the 1st Test against England in Hyderabad:

The fan, wearing Virat Kohli's shirt, completely deceived security officials as he reached the pitch to touch Rohit Sharma's feet. But, a few seconds later, security arrived and took the fan away

Yet another pitch invasion by a fan from the crowd. Looks like he wanted a selfie with Alyssa Healy this time. Or is there something more here?

I think bangalore used to have huge nets not to let anyone or anything in the ground.I was there in the stadium quite a number of times.Bcci should fine the stadiums with 1 year ban than the people.its complete administrative failure

Indians are now harassing women cricketers like this.

Disguting.

Even the cricketers (male) encourage such behavior. All it takes is one guy with a knife (Monica Seles incident) to end a career. These cricketers should be more vocal against such behavior. Safety First!

A fan breached the security to meet Virat Kohli at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, sometimes i wonder how easy it is in India to breach security and run onto the field.

During the recent IPL match between Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore, a fan invaded the pitch to meet Virat Kohli, marking another instance of pitch invasion this season. Kohli scored his first century of the season, helping RCB to 183/3. However, RR won the match by six wickets, thanks to an unbeaten century by Jos Buttler and a half-century by Sanju Samson.

Its too easy for anyone to breach the security and just run onto the field. This way someone could easily hurt a player.

It's absolute madness! Poor Klaassen is being harassed by the crowd.

not sure how did the SRH management permit such a large number of fans without implementing any safety precautions?
