Aun Chaudhry, candidate of Istehkam-e-Pakistan (IPP) from NA 128 Lahore, said that Salman Akram Raja is only wearing the cloak of advocacy and nobility but fact he attacked the Municipal Corporation Lahore (MCL) office and RO office on polling day.

“Salman Akram Raja pressured the RO for results,” Aun Chaudhary said.

In a press conference on Friday, IPP candidate from NA-128, Aun Chaudhry said notification of his success from NA 128 was stayed.

“I will go back to Lahore and file a case against Salman Akram Raja,” Aun Chaudhry said. Aun Chaudhry vowed he would not allow anyone to play with the country and the state.

Earlier, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has withdrawn the notification of the victory of IPP candidate Aun Chaudhry from NA-128.

ECP DG Law informed the Islamabad High Court (IHC) Chief Justice Aamir Farooq that ECP has withdrawn the victory notification of Aun Ch victory.

The court directed Salman Akram Raja’s lawyer to approach the ECP as his application is pending before the ECP.

“ECP will decide after hearing Salman Akram Raja's pending application,” Law DG said.

The court disposed of the application of Salman Akram Raja after the ECP DG Law statement.

“There was a mistake by the ECP that's why the notification has been withdrawn,” DG Law told the ECP.

Both candidates seem to be more focused on their personal disputes than the well-being of the people of Pakistan.

Salman Akram Raja decries ‘massive assault’ on democracy in Pakistan

Salman Akram Raja, who contested the Feb 8 polls with the PTI’s backing, said that the “rigging” which happened during the Feb 8 polls took place at the office of the returning officer (RO).

Speaking to the media in Islamabad, he said, “Normally one talks of rigging at polling stations, where the accusation is that the rival candidates carried out the rigging. But once the votes have all been brought to the office of the RO […] and once Form 45, that tabulates the result in every polling station, has been brought to the office of the RO, one expects that the final aggregate based on the results from each of the polling stations would be done fairly by the RO.”

He said that what happened on election night and Feb 9 was a “massive assault” on democracy in Pakistan. He alleged that “fictitious” Form 47 were created and the Form 45 were “tampered with”.

“What is the point in holding an election if you are going to create a result out of thin air?” he asked. “If the state officials responsible for safeguarding the election can be won over […] then every election to be carried out in Pakistan becomes a farce,” he said.

“If this is not reversed then it spells death for democracy in Pakistan. This was not just an election fraud, it was a wholesale assault on democracy in Pakistan,” he said.

PTI’s Khurram Sher Zaman laments ‘daylight robbery’ in Karachi

Speaking to the media at a rally organised by the PTI in Islamabad, party leader Khurram Sher Zaman lamented the “day light robbery” in Karachi during the Feb 8 polls.

He decried that seats were “handed out” to the MQM-P. He noted that when the PTI formed its government in 2018, Karachi had played the biggest role in this regard.

He said according to the Form 45, the PTI had won 19 National Assembly seats in Karachi. He said that the Jamaat-i-Islami had garnered the second highest number of votes according to the Form 45.

Votes were cast for Imran Khan not me, says Rehana Dar

Usman Dar’s mother Rehana Dar, who contested the Feb 8 polls with the support of the PTI from NA-71, said that she was a housewife who had nothing to do with politics but was compelled to contest the elections.

Speaking at a press conference organised by the PTI in Islamabad, she alleged that her house was raided on the directives of PML-N’s Khawaja Asif.

She said that thousands of “brave sons, mothers and daughters” showed her support in the polls. “The votes were not for me, they were for Imran Khan. The city of Sialkot loves Imran Khan,” she said.

“Contest elections outside. Don’t break doors and disrespect a mother,” she said. “If you want, I am ready to contest the polls again,” she said.

I don't know what the outcome of this press conference will be. Everyone is claiming rigging, but no one is talking about the economic crisis and plans to take Pakistan out of it.

Call a spade a spade and tell why NS and the thugs took peoples mandate. If the others are claiming rigging then why has it not shown its form 45s. Whats the wait.

ANd How do you take PK out of the crisis when you have no legitimacy to take any decisions.

Couldn’t even carry out rigging correctly in my constituency, says Barrister Taimur Malik

Barrister Taimur Malik, who contested the Feb 8 polls with the support of the PTI, said that he had contested the elections against ex-premier Yousuf Raza Gillani.

It should be mentioned that Gilani was declared a winner from NA-148 with 67,326 votes, while Malik had secured 67,033 votes.

“They couldn’t even carry out rigging correctly in my constituency,” he said. He said that the first Form 47 showed him with a lead of 200 votes while it was reduced to some 100 votes in the second.

“Gilani sahib, you’ve been had. Don’t abandon your Senate seat. Don’t look toward the National Assembly,” he said. He said that at the polling station near his home, he garnered 767 votes of which 13 were rejected.

He said this was later changed to 767 votes rejected and only 13 votes in favour of him.

Marwat says will lead Islamabad protest from F9 Park to press club

PTI leader Sher Afzal Marwat has said he will lead Saturday’s protest from Islamabad’s F9 park to the National Press Club.

“If the rulers want to inflict violence upon us then let me tell them one thing, I take full responsibility that if anyone wants to spread discord in Islamabad then we will ourselves catch them and hand them over to authorities.”

He said the protest would remain peaceful, warning that if the police clamped down it then the movement would continue until “the results are not changed."

The most important issue in Pakistan right now is the economic crisis, which needs to be addressed first before all these seat fights.

The most important issue in Pakistan right now is the economic crisis, which needs to be addressed first before all these seat fights.
The economic crisis is because of the people that caused these seat fights by rigging.

The most important crisis is the blatant interference of establishment in civilian matter which also includes rigging

I am least concerned about rigging in elections, I am only worried about who has the actual plan to take us out of the economic crisis, and yet no one has addressed it publicly.

The elections are done its been more than a week, but the hot news so far is the rigging protests etc nowhere there seems a chance of govt formulation, yes they have 21 days time period but 8 days already yet no clear picture

Maybe if there was no rigging PTI would have a 2/3rd majority and the plan could have been carried out. Because of the rigging no one has a mandate and it's all a mess.

OK, but the political problems and economic are linked and they can be addressed with an elected govt, not criminals with no public mandate.

Feb 8 polls 'largest assault on democracy' in Pakistan, says PTI

PTI claimed that 85 National Assembly seats that the party won in the February 8 polls were "snatched" and termed the alleged rigging as the "largest assault on democracy" in Pakistan.

The party, addressing the media in Islamabad, claimed that the total number of seats on which PTI-backed independents emerged victorious was 179, and the number of rejected votes cast in favour of the party outnumbered votes cast in favour.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and senior lawyer Salman Akram Raja has been arrested in Lahore during protest against alleged rigging in election 2024, ARY News reported.

As per details, Salman Akram Raja was arrested from outside Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Jail Road office in Lahore.

Earlier, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) withdrawn the victory notification for the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party’s candidate Awn Chaudhry against Salman Akram Raja following the February 8 general elections.

According to ECP results, Chaudhry secured 172,576 votes while Barrister Raja received 159,024 votes in the constituency, but the victory notification of Awn Chaudhry was challenged by PTI-backed independent candidate Salman Akram Raja.

Yesterday, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) called for nationwide demonstrations tomorrow (Saturday) to protest what it calls “brazen rigging” of February 8 general election.

Speaking to journalists after meeting Jamat-e-Islami (JI) leadership in Islamabad, PTI leader Asad Qaiser invited different political parties that believed that there was “rigging” in the elections to join the protest.

“The meeting was held under one-point agenda; the nation’s mandate was stolen in the elections 2024,” he said, adding that it was agreed to unite the voice against the “brazen rigging”.

Uncertainty looms over Pakistan’s political future as none of the major political parties – PML-N, PPP or the PTI-backed independent candidates – secured a simple majority in the National Assembly in the February 8 general elections.

Political stakeholders were making efforts to forge alliances and secure 169 seats in the 336-member lower house of parliament.

PTI-backed Independent candidates consolidated their lead in the general elections 2024 over mainstream political parties, especially in the National and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assemblies, throughout the result announcement process.

According to the results announced so far, independent candidates have managed to win 101 seats. It is worth mentioning that out of these 101 independent candidates, 92 are supported by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf while nine are general independent candidates.

PML-N is in the second position with 75 seats, while the PPP has won 54 seats. The MQM-P won in 17 constituencies, JUI-F in four, PML-Q in three, while IPP and BNP won two seats each.

PTI leader and senior lawyer Salman Akram Raja was arrested on Saturday in Lahore as the party protested alleged rigging in the February 8 elections.

Surrounded by security personnel and media persons, Raja said he stood "with the people of Pakistan" as the police dragged him towards their vehicle.

Later in the day, Raja, taking to X, said that he has been released.

On February 15, PTI chairman Barrister Gohar announced the initiation of nationwide protest demonstrations for Saturday (today) against perceived rigging in the general election.

He invited all political parties, including Jamaat-e-Islami, Tehreek-e-Labaik Pakistan, Grand Democratic Alliance, Awami National Party, and others, who believe their mandate was stolen, to join the protest for democracy, rule of law, and freedom.

Amid protests by multiple parties including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) against the alleged rigging during the February 8 general elections, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar on Saturday warned that any form of agitation, violence, or incitement for vigilantism will not be condoned and law would take its course without any hesitation.

Concerns about the transparency of the elections were further raised when Rawalpindi Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chatta, in a shocking revelation, confessed to his "involvement in rigging election results in the city", and resigned from his post demanding to be "hanged for doing injustice" to the Rawalpindi Division.

Chattha, in a press conference at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, claimed that 13 candidates from Pindi were forcefully declared winners, adding that "we gave the losing candidates leads of 50,000 votes".

"I have done injustice to the Rawalpindi Division," he said. "I tried to commit suicide today after Fajr prayer. But then I thought, why should I die a forbidden death? Why not put everything in front of the people?” he said.

Pakistan Bar Councils (PBC) and Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) have also raised questions over the credibility of the elections.

“While peaceful protest and assembly are fundamental rights, any form of agitation, violence, or incitement for vigilantism will not be condoned and law would take its course without any hesitation,” the prime minister said in a statement, issued by his office.

"Anarchy and disorder will not be tolerated at this crucial time. This only serves to advance the agenda for hostile forces, both domestic and foreign, to exploit and create grave law and order challenges.”

He said that the caretaker government implores patience, as political parties engage in consultations to form governments at both the federal and provincial levels, in accordance with democratic traditions and norms. “We hope that this process concludes as early as possible with mutual understanding and respect,” he added.

PM Kakar said that the recent election in the country has been a step towards promoting democracy. “Significant turnout from all segments of society, including both genders, has been acknowledged internationally. Post-elections, it is imperative that all stakeholders realise that victory and defeat are inherent aspects of democratic processes,” he added.

He further said that parties and individuals who harbour any concerns regarding electoral irregularities are encouraged to pursue legal recourse through the available channels. “Pakistan's legislative, judicial, and executive branches are resilient and stand ready to deliver impartial justice to all,” he concluded.

Considering the economic crisis, are we capable of wasting resources by protesting? I mean the fuel that will be wasted on security forces automobiles and the disruption of daily routine life.

The Sahiwal city police registered a case on Friday against 215 Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf workers, including former parliamentarians, the runner-up candidate for NA-141, district and tehsil office bearers, under 16 MPO for organising a public protest rally against election rigging on Thursday.

The case was registered under sections 148 and 149, and The Punjab Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance-1960 against 15 nominated and 200 unidentified participants, on the complaint by SI Ghulam Abbas.

Reports said that Rana Amir Shahzad, candidate for NA-141, called for a protest rally against rigging, which received full support from the PTI district body.

The protest rally moved from Iris Dera, Liaqat Chowk, Railway Road, and concluded at Azadi Chowk.

District Police Officer Faisal Shahzad told Dawn that the police had prohibited Mr Shahzad from organising the rally. The FIR states that the protest rally took place on the road and streets without permission.

Those named in the FIR include Mr Shahzad, his brother Rana Tariq (ex-MNA), Sajad Nasir (PTI ticket holder), Rizwan Shah, Muhammad Tariq, Naveed Aslam, Chaudhry Adil, Ahmed Ali Dhako, Muhammad Azam, Muhammad Awais, Chaudhry Faisal, Rana Anees, and Naveed.

Mr Shahzad challenged the Form 47 result and applied for a recount. After the recounting of results through Form 45, the ECP notified PML-N’s Pir Imran Shah winner.

PTI, police face off amid protests against ‘rigging’

PTI workers and police faced off in multiple cities on Saturday during protests against alleged rigging in the Feb 8 general elections.

In Lahore, PTI supporters had gathered outside the Lahore Press Club and the party’s Jail Road office to register their protest.

The protesters chanted slogans, demanding the restoration of their “stolen mandate”. They called for rectified results based on the vote count as per Form 45, prepared at polling stations under the watch of political parties’ polling agents.

PTI-backed candidate for NA-128, Salman Akram Raja, was arrested and taken to Racecourse Police Station. He was released later in the day.

Video clips posted on social media showed policemen dragging the lawyer as he participated in the protest outside PTI’s office on Jail Road.

Ali Ijaz Buttar, another PTI candidate, was also arrested, along with elderly men, women and a child.

In many cities of Punjab, police arrived at the protest site even before the demonstrators had gathered and arrested several party leaders, candidates, workers and supporters. They dragged elderly men and women. PTI workers and supporters, who had gathered on the call of party founder Imran Khan, chanted slogans and demanded the restoration of their “stolen” mandate.

PTI Central Punjab general secretary Hammad Azhar, who didn’t participate in any protest, posted videos on his official X account of demonstrations in Malakwal, Jhelum, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, and other cities.

He instructed the party’s ticket-holders to organise protests in their respective areas and march towards Lahore Press Club and PTI’s Jail Road office.

“If police stop protesters, stay peaceful and stage a sit-in there,” he wrote in a post on X.

Protests in Karachi, Peshawar

In Karachi, hundreds of PTI workers and supporters gathered outside the Election Commission of Pakistan’s Sindh office in the city’s Saddar area.

The protesters chanted slogans against the alleged rigging and demanded the judiciary and state institutions to intervene and fix the “flaws” in the results.

The charged crowd, including women and children, carried party flags and danced to the tunes of party songs.

They claimed that the mandate of Karachi was “stolen” on Feb 8 and that it could lead to “disastrous repercussions”, like damaging the democracy and affecting the parliamentary system.

The party’s Sindh chapter president, Haleem Adil Sheikh, and other senior leaders addressed the demonstration and vowed to keep raising their voices against the “rigged” elections“.

Any move to harass PTI leaders and supporters will not stop them from exercising their democratic right to protest, the speakers vowed.

In Peshawar and other areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, PTI workers, including the newly elected lawmakers, staged rallies.

The rally in the provincial capital was addressed by PTI provincial president and chief minister-designate Ali Amin Gandapur and other leaders.

In his speech, Mr Gandapur said his party would not seek revenge but would reform institutions responsible for the “political witch-hunt” of his party workers and leaders.

“Reforms are necessary for the bright future of our children,” Mr Gandapur said, without specifying which institutions he aims to reform.

Amid cheers from the protesters, the PTI leader said those who resisted reforms would be punished as per law.

Holding a portrait of the PTI’s founder and former prime minister Imran Khan, he said that the party’s next government in KP would ensure rights for women and vowed to revive the Sehat Card health insurance programme.

So looks like the establishment with the full blessings of the international establishment has successfully gotten away with rigging the most rigged election in Pakistan History and the people of Pakistan have accepted this with no fight back. You can forget about people having any faith in the system, ballot or people ever turning out in such large numbers again and people having any faith in the PTI politicians being able to take on the system ever again.

The Mafia prevails again

The Swat Anti-Terrorism Court on Saturday granted pre-arrest bail to 22 Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, Shangla chapter, activists implicated in the February 9 riots and violence case.

Two PTI workers were killed and several others injured when police allegedly resorted to firing to disperse the violent crowds after they set ablaze public properties and vehicles in Alpuri in protest against alleged rigging in Feb 8 elections.

The counsel for PTI activists said their plea for interim pre-arrest bail was accepted by ATC Swat till Feb 29. He said the ATC judge directed the Shangla police not to arrest the activists implicated in the Feb 9 case till the expiry of their bail.

Insaf Lawyers Forum, Malakand division, general secretary Jawad Ali Noor Advocate told Dawn that the police had implicated over 1,200 people in the Feb 9 violence case.

He said prominent among those having granted pre-arrest bail included PTI-backed NA candidate Haji Said Fareen, PK-30 candidate Sadar Rehman Advocate, former district council member Khan Nawab, Najeeb Shahzad, Mohammad Ishaq, Fazal Jehan and Wasim Afghan.

A PTI legal team comprising Mujarab Khan Advocate, Mir Alam Advocate, Waqar Khan Advocate and Jawad Ali Noor appeared on behalf of the petitioners.

Jawad Ali said the police had no legal right to book the party workers as they had opened ‘indiscriminate’ fire on the peaceful protesters.

He added 26 activists, who were arrested on the day of violence, had been released from jail on ATC orders last week.

LAID TO REST: A mineworker, who died in an incident in a Chakwal mine, was laid to rest in Dehrai Belkani area here on Saturday.

Spokesman for mineworkers’ rights association Abid Yar said the incident occurred due to a gas explosion, killing two people and injuring three others.

He said Barkat Ali was among the deceased.

I will never understand why people sacrifice their lives for political leaders, leaving behind their loved ones.

These press conferences will not make an Iota of difference. American masters of Pakistan have already certified the election as fair.
Mandate of people of Pakistan has been stolen but they are cowards who are not doing anything about it.
