[VIDEOS] Sharjeel Khan hopeful of playing in the 2021 T20 World Cup

Agree or not, fixer or not but truth is Sharjeel is the best opener available in Pakistan cricket for limited over matches. No one come even closer to him when it comes to striking and finding gaps consistently. Batting talent in Pakistan is very limited. Sharjeel should find his place considering 3 world cups are coming in the next 3 yrs. After sharjeel what I saw in national T20 only Haider and Azam Khan have the ability to hit Big and of course very clever and intelligent man Hafeez.

That's good then. Why isn't he picked? I thought only India had the political selection bias. Turns out Pakistan are not much different.

Every time I have seen a Pakistani T20 game, sharjeel stood out to me. He should be picked.

Hr isnt picked based upon fitness I belive

Misbah-ul-Haq reveals reason behind overlooking Sharjeel Khan for national team

Pakistan head coach Misbah-ul-Haq has revealed that opener Sharjeel Khan will have to meet the fitness criteria in order to cement his spot in the national team.

The left-hander has been in prolific form ever since returning to professional cricket after serving a ban for a part in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) spot-fixing scandal.

Misbah, while talking to Samaa TV, said that every player including Sharjeel has been made aware of the policy on the fitness requirement.

“It is not possible that you are overweight 15 kgs and expect to become a part of the national team,” he said. “Everyone, including the likes of Sharjeel Khan, has been made aware of the policy at the time of the PSL. I have been very clear from the beginning that there can never be a compromise over fitness.”

“We have set a bar of fitness in the national team. It doesn’t matter if you are performing well or not but if you want to be a part of this group, you have to meet this standard or at the very least, have to come very close to the fitness level of other players.”

What about imad waseem, yasir shah harris sohail !

Misbah, as expected is using fitness excuse to keep him out. Only issue is that Sharjeel does not fall in 'acha bacha criteria' of Misbah.

He deffo needs to be held back till he loses a couple of stone

Theres no excuse to look like that All it takes id a couple of months of calorie cutting

It just goes to show he isnt sincere or dedicated enough to me

This is a very difficult one. I absolutely despise unfit players. that's your freaking job for God sake. on the other hand the guy is talented.

Sharjeel should be given a chance.

Inzi was extremely unfit and had he played under Kohli I am not sure if he would have got picked despite being a legendary player.

but he should be given a chance though.

Why doesn’t he fall into that criteria? Because he spot fixed? If yes then I don’t see anything wrong in Misbah’s criteria then.

So your saying notts did a fitness test and he passed it

Well this is not a village cricket club, this is a professional English team who just won the t20 blast, i am sure beyond doubt they do regular checks on many things, fitness being one of them.

Rakeem Cornwall played a whole test match against England , doesn't look like hes passing yo yo tests any time soon.T20 is a shorter format , if Sharjeel wacks a few sixes up top more time then not it will compensate for the fitness, we have never been blessed with athletic players, and haven't exactly got an abundance of aggressive openers or batters at the moment.

Sharjeel coming back into form is great news for Pakistan team. He was breaking out into a real star.

if he still have that in him, I'd back him up to the hilt. Much much superior to any other opener we have in white ball cricket.

Just look at the ipl and you will know how bad the fitness of some players - the fitness mark is 18 and I belive sharjeel is at 17.4 so hes not to far off

Thats all well and good, but i never disputed Sharjeels fitness, i even mentioned the example of Rakeem Cornwall playing test cricket, size should not always matter. You seem quite keen to implicate imad in all of this, i just cited that professional english cricket teams do fitness tests on a regular basis, ive seen this with my own eyes. In my opinion if he was not fit enough then he would not be playing for Notts especially in a tittle winning team.

Thank you, but you are not needed.
If you can spot fix without any remorse, you could do worse in the future for more money

With regards to Inzi, Sharjeel doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as him. There's no comparison in terms of talent or ability. Inzi also played in a different generation where nobody really took fitness that seriously. Now all the top teams look like they have 11 atheletes in their side.

Pakistan need to keep up or accept their fate as a Windies/Bangladesh tier cricketing nation. Fitness is underrated by our nation, but it's a significant part of why Aus and SA teams are always at the top regardless of the actual talent coming through their ranks.

End this fitness drama and bring back Sharjeel in the national team fgs.:facepalm

He had similar fitness when he was smacking sixes against Starc, Cummins, Hazelwood, Milne and Wood for fun. He is our cleanest striker of the ball, our best basher against pace and they are stuck with this fitness excuse with two T20 WCs just around the corner. As if rest of our cricketers are all Usain Bolts and Jahangir Khans.

Ygm my point if your ganna use fitness then get rid of all the ones who are not fit !

Haider
Fakhar
Abdullah
Babar
Shadab
Hafeez
Khushdil
Wahab (great arm)

The ingredients for a fit XI are all there.

Just because some one is big, it doesn't mean they are unfit, I can show you multiple 10-12 stone people who struggle for breath after 30 seconds. Samit Patel has passed multiple fitness tests when he played for England, and he was a lot bigger those times then he is now.

Proberly Due to medical conditions.... he also failed multiple fitness oke being before the world cup

Out for 1 today against SP - really disappointing stuff from him.

He hasn't really impressed and surely his hopes of selection for the national team are fading. Several younger players have moved ahead of him in the pecking order in my opinion.

Apart from the 90 and 77, he has struggled.

6 scores between 0 and 11.

The pitch we had here suited the faster bowlers up front as thier was swing not many openers scored on this ground

Am afraid Sharjeel's ship may have sailed.

Golden duck today.

and his previous scores

Yes we need to end this fitness nonsense and immediately bring this fat, unfit, fixer & mediocre back in the our national team. After all he did hit few sixes to Starc/ Wood etc. almost 4 years ago.

Moreover, it will send a very good message to all the other youngsters that if you have little bit of talent, you should start fixing. Don't worry you can eventually make a comeback into Pakistan side again. Our fans will welcome you with open arms.:ds

Not done enough for a recall to the national team, but anything is possible with the selectors.

He still doesn't look match fit too.

I always wanted sharjeel in the pak team but he doesnt deserve It on current form

Sharjeel would make a great mascot, cha cha cricket should step aside he had his time

Does Sharjeel have anyone but himself to blame? He was making progress after his ban expired and looked in contention for a recall. However, his weight has been unacceptable during this series and there's no question it's affected his ability to perform.

To date nobody has successfully completed a comeback from fixing after a prolonged punishment. It finished off Asif and Butt, it has massively shortened and dulled Amir's career, and Sharjeel has next to no chance of a recall behind guys like Haider Ali and Zeeshan.

Good innings tonight and he could be in the running for a slot in the Pak WT20 squad, or not?

Sharjeel and Babar look good as a T20 opening pair together - confident and bold stroke players , although Sharjeel still looks like he will do an “Afridi” (close eyes and slog ball straight up into the air to give an easy catch) any ball.

He just seems to be trying to smash the ball too hard too often.

Recently it seems like he's not prepared to build his innings and just tries to smash it out the park.

Thankfully people have finally realized that he is a nothing player.

And no, the ban didn’t hurt him. He was never going to have a long, successful career at the top level. He is technically poor, he is lazy and has little batting IQ.

Good riddance.
