Many technical problems in the action, which are disallowing him to reach such pace.

It's unrealistic expectation on a 18-20 year old to be 145+

Bhai sahab, watch the ball not the speedgun. He was hurrying Kamran. And you don't judge a fast bowler by a couple of overs. He can bowl 140+ but he needs to settle down into a rhythm before he can bowl his fastest. This is a step above from the competition he's been playing.
 
I am Sorry to disappoint but nothing special from the land which produced Wasim, Waqar and Shoaib. If he is one of the best "emerging Quicks" then futue of Pakistan Cricket is at stake.

For the sake of Pakistan Cricket. I genuinely hope and pray that this Kid puts in the hard yards and proves everybody wrong.

When young Amir first came on to the scene, he used to operate around 135ks. Not because he couldn't bowl faster but because fast bowlers need time to settle into a rhythm. This is a step above from the competition they've been playing. The margin of error decreases as the level of competition increases. Amir's pace continuously improved as he gained confidence that he belongs, also making slight technical changes to tighten up his action. Like Amir, Ghulam is not a seasoned veteran that you'd expect him to come in and bowl 140k+ from ball blowing away everyone. He's only just started his domestic career.
 
Rate him a lot,hope lahore win this match so he and badar play the next.

I think Mudassir is in the mould of Sami, bowls fast but gets dispatched to the boundary

I missed his bowling, what was his pace?? - Is he 145 or 140 pace??

Notice in 2 posts I have not mentioned anything about Pace, neither have I put any emphasis on Pace (or lack of it).

Didn't watch the game, but you must be clueless about cricket if you judge bowlers of 2/3 overs in a T20 game.
 
Outstanding prospect, if he is 17; may be still a very good prospect if 19 - beyond that, just average. And, if he is around 23 - he'll decline in few years time. Learning curve has an exponential correlation with age.
 
Felt it would be a good time to bump this thread.
Lahore, quite simply, have been atrocious in the PSL. Their emerging players, with a few others, have been a shining light for them.

I've been very impressed with Shaheen Shah Afridi, even if he doesn't have the stats to back it up. I've been impressed with his attitude, his fielding, and albeit in spurts, his bowling has been top-drawer.

Salman Irshad is also someone I have been very impressed with. He has some bits of his action still to work on for example, but I think that the raw skills are there.

You've also got Harris Rauf who's training with Lahore, who has, according to reports, impressed Baz.

The question remains; why have Ghulam Mudassar in the squad. He is never, ever, going to get a game. Not that he'd been starting for other teams, but if he is going to sit on the bench, surely, you'd have him in Karachi or something, so Mickey, Azhar Mahmood, etc, can work on him, so he can improve...
 
2-30 (6) vs FATA in the QeA Cup.

That's a decent return given 700+ runs were scored in the match.
 
Ghulam Mudassar took 5 wickets while only conceding 37 runs, match-winning performance by him.

Had a bit of a quiet season last year, but seems to have (re-)found his groove this year in List A.

Kamran Ghulam seems to be in red hot form both with bat & ball - hope Ul Haq is aware of his existence.

So far the speeds I've seen for his bowling are 126, 126, 132 and 128kph... missed a few balls so not sure about his other deliveries.

His slower ball was 95kph.
 
Ghullam Mudassar - A wasted Emerging Player Pick

Hopefully that will end the Hype around him. Everyone kept commenting early on about how he was a 145-150 km/hr bowler, he is bang on average and operates at 124-132 km/hr and he puts in a lot of effort in his bowling action, he is not going to get better. Quetta had a lot more options for their emerging picks.

i had a good look at him today :( .... may be he was born 6 years old and this is expected therefore.
 
To be fair he was up against a guy in superb form and would have hit most bowlers around.
 
Shouldn’t be bowling anymore.... looks like gully cricketer...bowling at 125 with lots of effort, very skinny
 
He is like a couple of local bowlers in the PSL, might be good enough at first class level, but always in danger of getting caned when he comes up against international class hitters. Sameen who bowls for Peshawar strikes me as another one.

That is the most wierd part , how come witch such an immense effort in his action and still delivers at 130ks , must be one of a kind mystery. (May be they deliberately produce wrong speeds for him :))

Never impressed me but atleast he used to have pace but was wayward, now even that pace is gone lol.

oh my God just realized this fact that Shaheen plays for Lahore so he is under direct threat of Aaqib Javed :facepalm: Only Rana can save him by firing Aaqib Javed
 
I don't see any action change in his bowling so I don't understand why Aqib is being blamed. He has worked decently with Shaheen and Rauf, yes changed action of few like Anwer Ali etc because their action was too much to handle for their back. Should they have retained original action to be effective irrespective of back problems is another issue.

I am not his fan but I think he is being blamed more than he should.

I still think if Mudassar can work hard and increase bit of pace he can still be a good prospect. Just in the match before last one he took 3 wickets for 20 odd runs.

Shaheen is a product of the NCA, not Qalandars. Rauf has been training in Australia.
 
Aqib used to be one of the best new ball bowlers in Pakistan at a time when we had Wasim and Waqar. I doubt he is going to teach any bowler a bad action, he had one of the best outswingers of any Pakistan bowlers of that era.
 
I am pretty sure Rauf action has been remodeled on the man himself(Aqib) its astonishing if no one has noticed it yet but that has actually helped him getting that away swinger going for him with the new ball. I guess it's work for some and not for most.
 
See the one year ago bowling videos of Rauf and compare it now specially the end release. Actually it's much better now compare to earlier.
 
Why everyone blames Aquib? Guy has managed several high profile jobs including International assignments, he has been part of a successful PAK team for a decade in which I doubt how many current players will make the squad, he has played in Counties where he must have been under supervision of Pro coaches and he has professional certificates as well. What I see is an alarming trend - Lahore Qaladar (or PCB sometimes), do some funky staffs like talent hunt, pacer hunt ........ PP hypes some nobodies like next DK Lillee in making - couple of years later blame goes to Aquib!!!

I haven't seen much of this guy Mudassar, but he is one of such many. Couple of years back there was another guy Ehtesham (who, I don't know where is now), an ambidextrous pacer I forgot name another one Salman Irshad, long back Anwar Ali ...... Why can't it be a simple conclusion that these hyped bowlers were just not good enough. Aquib might be incompetent (for the sake of saying), but there is Shinwari, there was another lefti guy few years back .... these are not "destroyed" by Aquib. People here get excited with speed gun reading (which often isn't reliable) or sped up youtube clips, and then we read lot about potential, technical analysis, bio-mechanics, aerodynamics .... but is it really too difficult to understand that most cases regardless of who is the coach, these over hype will end in disappointments.

Unless a pace bowler has at least couple of seasons with 12+ FC games and 450+ overs under his belt, it's unfair to ride high horses and then pull them down to dust. Shaheen or Arshad looked potential one reason being their natural physique, but those guys did deliver at junior level as well; but most cases, other pacers are hyped to the moon and then expected that they'll fulfill the hype. It doesn't happen like that, and there is a major issue which I don't want to reiterate - if Miraz fakes 3-4 years now and goes back to U18 cricket, he'll look like Gary Sobers in making for a 17 years old kid ...........

Stop mixing up random bowlers you haven't followed.

Ehtisham hasn't gone anywhere. He just hasn't been given opportunity.

There's little to no change in Rauf's action. He's had the away swinger ever since he started bowling with the hard ball.

My point wasn't about Ehtesham only, he might be make it in future, but it's surprising that after so many years hardly anyone has picked him. Just a feeling that Aquib gets too much hate here, from a feeling that there are low hanging fruits all around - just needs a proper shake.

The guy you're defending is the same person who hyped Yasir to be bowling 145 with both hands purposely and fooled the cricketing world just to market Qalandars brand. Deliberately posted videos from angles which made him look lively. There's also no doubt he tried to straighten out Ghulam and when his pace dropped, he threw him away and tried to distance himself. Ghulam's pace was praised by former cricketers who commentated on his matches. They know 140k+ looks like.

He's a low class human being who should not be given any respect whatsoever.

his primary sport is soccer (football), his passion isn't as strong for cricket.

one of the reasons he won't become an international quality bowler.

he's good enough for a PSL pay day

Around 130kph. Not much variety. A bowler who the opposition will target.
 
There is not a single world class bowler Aqib has produced.

Waqar comes from the school of thought where he believes that coaches now days focus too much on bio mechanics and injury prevention and now days you have bowlers who start out lively but then they reduce their pace and effectiveness in the name of remaining injury free. If you want to be a tear away fast bowler who creates an impact, you will have to go through the hard yards, make sacrifices and injuries are part and parcel of a fast bowlers life.
 
He is playing first cricket since his said age of 16 , so why he never got selected for Pakistan under 19 team ?
 
It's not that hes a bad player, he just doesn't seem to have the mentality of the top flight, even in his recent interview with ESPN he seemed to have a bit of an ego, but in real match situations he seems to collapse whenever there is a bit of pressure. Performed against LQ due to to his past history with them and probably them not retaining him this year as a player usually does, but even for LQ got a big smashing letting in around 30 runs in 2 overs and not getting a game after that. He seems to have the talent but not the mentality.
 
As per sources he has been named as replacement for Rumman Raees in Sindh T20 squad for national T20.
