[VIDEOS] Talent Spotter : Nasir Nawaz

Good to see him in action at KPL, hit 35 (33) for Overseas Warriors in Match 3

Pretty decent striker of the cricket ball, technically not too shabby as well. Opened for Northern in QAE last season and did provide some quick starts with SR of 77 and average of 32. Doing well in KPL for overseas warriors.

A young expressive batsman, would like to see more of him in domestic cricket and PSL.

He has a lot that can be worked with. Playing his strokes against 145 kph bowling pretty comfortably both on the front foot as well as back foot. Really good ball striking along with timing.

Played well for Northern even in 4 day cricket as an opener last season so decent basics as well.

There is a good player there with Nasir, there kind of always has been. But he needs to work on his game, he needs to build scores in T20, rather than hack and slash.

There is an opener from Afghanistan called Gulbudin Naib. I don’t think he is anywhere near as good as this guy Nawaz but Gulbuddin is still in a lot of demand around the world for T20 or T10 leagues.

Poor game sense. He caused his team to lose today. Had he been sensible with the rain pouring, his team would had won by dl

Nasir Nawaz Should be groomed in NCA with Power hitting coch.

Credit goes to the Northern management for sticking with him and giving him so many opportunities to do what he did just now. Players like him do need that kind of backing and faith to come good eventually.

Is this second x1?

He has the natural flair but he needs to play as many balls as possible otherwise he will get fount out on half bowling pitches.

Islamabad United have drafted in Nasir Nawaz, who was a reserve player in the managed event environment, as a temporary replacement for Alex Hales for the next two games.

Why a 'temporary replacement' and why only two games? Surely until the end of the tournament?

what is temporary replacement? i read zahid mehmood is also coming in as back up for shadab but shadab isnt out of the tournament yet. What does it mean than?

I think IU will try to convince Khwaja to come earlier and play for them as he did last year for them. I think they want that Khwaja-Munro opening combo again. Shadab will hopefully recover in time for play-offs.

For that to happen, it was required that khawaja be part of the drafts. Was he registered for the drafts?

Not sure. Logically, he should have registered as no Aus test series was colliding with PSL schedule and he was never going to be part of an Aussie T20I squad.

I remember this guy bursting onto the domestic scene and being hailed as the next Alex Hales.. but looking at his performance today he seems to have regressed quite a lot. Sad to see as I actually rated this kid but looks like a shadow of a player he once once.. similar thing happened to nauman anwar too…

Sad to see time and time again these Pakistani batters burst 💥 onto the scene only to regress rapidly.

I don't understand why all these guys are hyped so much.
He is just another poor batsman.

He was decent but he’s regressed soo much looks bang everywhere now. Pakistan needs a system in place to work with new upcoming talent no wonder Pakistan never produce any good batsmen.. just look at Haider Ali another batsmen going downhill unfortunately

Unfair to judge him on one match on a disgracefully slow pitch.

Can't judge him based upon 1 performance I have seen him in domestic cricket and he was quite decent.

Nasir Nawaz makes his maiden T20 half-century at the National T20

Second fifty of the tournament for Nasir Nawaz - in an important game too - SF for Nat T20

Watched a few overs of him batting today. Despite his 50, he has regressed a lot. Was dropped on 1 today. And barely managed to survive in the opening overs. I hope he takes confidence from these 50s though. When i saw him first time a few years ago, dare i say he looked like the second coming of Kohli in terms of style.

His batting partner Taimoor looked more impressive to me today. Is there a thread about him?

To be honest, Taimur looked very ordinary against the bounce of Ihsanullah. Shoddy technique to cope with the rising ball.

Agreed about Nasir, he looks very limited; doesn't seem to have the game against good pace.

I need to see more of Taimoor. Just saw a couple of his shots and he seemed to have a good hitting technique. But surely need to watch him more before making a judgement. Btw Ihsanullah looks like a real talent.

I agree he looks ordinary these days. Used to look much much better.
Ali Imran is better than him imo.

A splendid 55-ball 72 by Nasir Nawaz to take Northern to a decent total in the semi-final
