What's new

[VIDEOS] Talent Spotter : Saif Badar

He has had excellent tournaments in the past, that’s why. Emerging Asia Cup, last year’s Nt20, etc. Sometimes you have flop tournaments though, like this year’s National T20. Shows he still needs to work hard.

That being said, he was also in and out of the side multiple times during the tournament, can’t imagine that was good for his confidence.

He needs to play in the second xI to get consitant matches and build his confidence in the first xI you will proberly only get 3 chances before you are dropped

Saif Badar 17 today in the QeA 2020

Amazing innings so far from Saif Badar!

Chasing 154 for victory, he walks in at 38-2 which soon became 39-3, with Yasir Shah in full rhythm, and Kashif Bhatti from the other end.

After smashing Yasir for four and six in the first innings, this innings he's defended against him brilliantly. Amazing battle so far. And from the other end, he smashed Kashif Bhatti and Yasir Shah for four.

Also played a beautiful cover drive off Taj Wali early on.

He's currently 23* overnight, with another 90 to win tomorrow on a tough day 4 spinning pitch.
MMHS Junaids big day coming for him. If he can chase it down, will secure his spot for a while.

World class talent. Lets see how he does.

People criticise me for supporting Saif, but just watch him bat and you'll see why I rate him so much

The guy is brilliant against spin

He has so much time to play pacers

And he plays clutch innings

Btw he took a blinder in the field today

And he's an underused leggy.

Everything accepted- but he has to put numbers on board - cute 20s & 30s are not going to improve his average, neither chances.

He already has wasted a golden opportunity yesterday- spent 55 balls in batting (if I double it he stayed in middle for at least 15-16 overs, that’s more than an hour), then threw it. Also, if I even take 3 singles with his three boundaries- that’s 49 dots of 55; a scary sign.

He might be a very sweet shot maker, but not a good batsman at all, not yet. He has to bat at least once for 8+ hours and 170+ Innings to convince me.

That's the issue, he literally can do it, but it's inexperience. Batting time, it takes a skill, and you learn that the more you play this format, rather than T20 stuff.

In Nov 2018 he scored 118(his first ever first-class ton)

His next first-class innings came in Oct 2019 where he scored 7.

After this, the current game he's playing is the next game.

How can we expect him to improve with such little game time?

Just the same thing I've been saying too about him for some time now.

The guy needs to put up the numbers as we all know how cruel cricket can be in Pakistan especially with youngsters not given enough chances or when they're given they won't take them.

He needs to rotate the strike more often and look to play the shots convincingly as in that tiny clip the first shot wasn't timed well enough at all.

I watched a snippet of him today and I see your point but its a numbers game where players like him and Saud are just to soft. You know tomorrow he won't get more than 30, another talented wasted.

He needs to put runs on the board getting flashy 20s and 30s wont win games for you

Played well today vs Sindh for SP - 27* at the moment

Final day of Round 10 of QeA20:

Southern Punjab started the day with a thin eight-run lead that they stretched to 62 on the back of Saif Badar’s 52 (four fours and a six). Saif resumed the fourth and final day on 17 and had the company of Mohammad Ilyas, who failed to add a run to his overnight score before he was dismissed on four.

Another talunt

If he can't do it here then there is no hope at all

A few false shots, playing with hard hands, mistiming the ball and playing uppishly. Not as bad as I’m making him sound but he gets out for 18 as I write this.

I would say you are not making him sound bad enough. With this many chances the whole season he has yet to take responsibility and become a consistent performer.

Saif Badar is now apart of the US team?

If I’m not mistaken, he sent out a tweet a while ago after Pakistan lost the World Cup a few years ago, stating that he would represent them & one day win the WC for Pakistan.

I was shocked to see the American flag next to his name.

He moved to the US a few years ago like Sami Aslam.

Pakistan is not a good place for guys like him who have no connections in PCB or no political affiliation. Sad to see many of them leaving Pakistan. Understandable.

Saif Badar scored 35 off 28 deliveries which includes 3 massive sixes... played an anchor innings when no other batter was holding the ground against Washington Freedom in MLC 2024.

Oh man completely forgot about him.. he was such a promising player, very fit. I looked him up and he’s played in some very random local teams in the USA.

During an interview with a local sports outlet, Saif Badar justified his decision highlighting the lack of chances in Pakistan:

“My goal is to play as much cricket as possible and continue improving as a player. Moving from Pakistan to the USA was about seeking more opportunities to play the sport.”

“Pakistan boasts a rich cricketing heritage and a well-established system. In contrast, the USA is still developing its cricket culture as it isn’t traditionally a cricketing nation."

“However, I’m optimistic about the investments being made in USA cricket, which will certainly lead to improvements.”

“My move to the USA is primarily about enhancing my opportunities. If the chance arises, any player would welcome it. Right now, my focus is on personal improvement. We’ll see what the future holds.”

“Playing for Pakistan has always been a dream since I started cricket. Currently based in the USA, I’m focused on playing here. While I don’t anticipate a call-up, if the opportunity arises, representing Pakistan would be an honour no one would turn down.”

His batting average suggests that he will never have a callup for Pak side , good move by him to maximize his chances of representing at International level.
