What's new

[VIDEOS] Tayyab Tahir - Wristy batter from Gujrat

Only he isn't a product of the new system

He's a product of the old system when regions and departments were merged together he played for lahore blues

I know, it hurts them to accept that a guy that was averaging around 32 becomes better on better wickets( new system), against better players( new system) and gets more prominence( new system).

Abdullah shafiq too..but they can't see it..they'll come out with massive lists of players who are 40 years old and demand they play for Pakistan. And they will fail. Then they will demand u19 sifarshis and they will fail with one success. Then they will ask dor new management and they will fail. And the cycle begins again forever for these children. They will grow up and their children will start the cycle again and we will be too old to care by then...Sethi will be long gone..but his legacy will remain. Somebody will try to change things but by then it will be too late and modern commentators will talk about that once great bowler shaheen or babar..while watching a 45 year old pass himself off as a 25 year old getting bowled by namibia.

For the first 2 yrs of the new Australian system tayyab tahir never even played qea

He playing is first year under the new system

So there you go proves my point that limiting teams limits chances for youngsters to get games and he only eventually got in because of his limited overs performance and central punjab backed him and also salman butt retired.

He couldn't get in Central punjab lahore because it was being hogged by senior players

Which shows you what competition does- either improve or ship out. He had an average of around 30 under the old system and would have carried on for years without any pressure and eventually would have died a death but here he is today on the verge of PK team. Unfortunately your point fails at the average of 30

I've observed this as well. They select underperforming outliers from a group and then use their failure to justify the group's exclusion in the future. How do you propose we tackle this problem?

He won't even get picked

Because shafique , imam , fakhar sharjeel ,shan are all ahead

So being picked in the probables means nothing

How are they ahead when they don't perform?

Tayyab might have issues getting into the team because he comes from a small city and has no connections.

Tayyab should be picked in the 16 becouse he can bat in the top 5 and is a strong player of spin.

Impressive 58(56) for Tayyab in 1st SF of Pak Cup

Those are all openers you listed. Tahir is a middle order batsmen and Pakistan are in need of a proper #4 & #5 batsmen.

Asthetically he is not really all that pleasing to the eye but who knows... could be good vs spin. I would prefer they give Ghulam a shot over him.

Hits a 71 in the final

Looks like the typical tape ball cricket hack

Who hits all shots by clearing his leg towards leg ,lofts , cross bat hacks.
No proper cricket shots drives cuts through off?

Also seems a very bottom handed player

And that ground with its mini size boundaries and pitch is atrocious, ridicolous if you think you can play domestics on that and then have players ready to face intl teams
I'd take all these domestic performances with a fistful of salt .

Pakistan Cup : Player of the final – Tayyab Tahir (Central Punjab)
Best Batter of the Pakistan Cup: Tayyab Tahir (Central Punjab); 573 Runs

Great numbers for him of late.

Deserved call-up to the ODI squad.

He seems a good player of spin. Uses the crease well.
Only time will tell if he really belongs at the highest level. I do not think he will last long due to gap between our domestic and unternational standards.

He is the top scorer in Pakistan cup this year with youngsters Haseeb and Saim Ayub coming 2nd and 3rd.

Another 34 year old youngster Haris Sohail with fitness of a 44 years old came at 42nd place and with that monumental performance earned a call in ODI squad by our visionary selectors .

Somehow, Tayyab, Haseeb and Saim failed to catch the eyes of the selectors .

Tayyab should definitely be in the 15 man squad for the new zealand odi squad.

Tayyab earns a maiden call up in the 16-man squad for the NZ ODI's.

Tayyab Tahir making an instant impact as a sub!

Tayyab speaking in an interview

“I don’t’ think I can be second Babar Azam. I won’t call him a legend yet as he is still playing. I don’t copy him, but I can learn from him. I have a different batting style and I don’t have the ability to copy someone. I want to be the first ‘Tayyab Tahir’"

“I didn’t get a chance to get tips personally since it was only a three-match series, but I have learnt by observing him in the dressing room. You get a chance to get tips when you are regular part of the squad and become a little bit frank with him. However, he made me comfortable in the dressing room,”

PSL debut for Tayyab Tahir - huge expectations from him and comes with a decent T20 SR in domestic.

Lovely shot to start his PSL.

Beautiful wrist work.

Looks like another leg sidish player

Give a good player halwa like this and what do we expect him to do?

KK probably scratching their heads and thinking why has it taken us 6 games to play him.

Done really well so far.

He has a T20 strike rate of 140 and an average of 47 - clearly knows what he is doing in this type of cricket.

Obviously he is an upgrade to Haider Ali, however I was disappointed at the lacking skill of accelerating at the end.

An impressive 65 (46) on his PSL debut

Interesting comment today "I am batting the way that the Pakistan team needs players to bat and will continue to bat this way if I get the chance"

Man of the match for me. Wonderful innings. The likes of Babar and Rizwan should take heed to how this guy played on his PSL debut. Didn't take time during the powerplay, instead he played selflessly for the greater good of his team.

Imad Wasim "Tayyab Tahir had a great domestic tournament and he grabbed the opportunity today. He played outstandingly well as it was not easy to score runs in the middle"

Very brave innings today and it came off. Good luck to him for the rest of the series. The middle order is wide open for new blood.

Good to see some batting talent showing up finally(unlike the previous PSL). Azam Khan is also doing well. However Saim Ayub, has to be the best. Saim has that great technique, now all he needs is consistency (which comes from Hard work). If Saim works hard, he can be the next big thing for Pakistan.

Imad Wasim on Tayyab Tahir:

“I was always aware of his talent and knew that he was a top performer in domestic cricket.”

“In fact, I used to tell him that you are just around the corner and whenever you get a chance just play the way you do in domestic.”

Earned a callup to the T20I side for 3-match series against Afghanistan.

Though he has not convinced me in the PSL, his List A average is good, therefore I am happy he is getting a chance.

I am all for players who do the hard yards in domestic cricket.

Not impressed with his technique , fitness and fielding , but lets see how he performs . Looks much older , just like chacha .

His problem is that he doesn't have the kind of time against pacers that all the good players have. Terrible on the short ball and simply not good enough against genuine pace. It's possible that he performs against Afghanistan in Sharjah but longer term we need to find better options for the middle order.

His fielding is okay it isn't that bad.is technique Is based upon having a wond in his hands (wrists)

Played some nice shots at PSL 8 but I'm surprised he's been called up for international cricket at this stage.

Anyway best of luck to the guy.

No idea why this guy was called up.

Has done absolutely nothing in the PSL.

One 50 and in the squad you go.

Didn’t impressive me. Looks ungainly when batting and loses his shape every now and then when he tries to hit.

Doubt he can flourish at the int level with such “loose” technique.

His fitness doesn’t look so good either.

Yes, Tayyab looks like a player more suiteable for the pathas we use as wickets in domestic cricket but will fail miserably against better bowling and any bowler friendly wicket. Same goes to players like Akhlaq Ahmed, Irfan Niazi and Usman Khan . Players like Saim, Harris , Omair, and even Haseeb possess better technique and can improve further to represent Pakistan on regular basis .

Tayyab Tahir thanks Karachi Kings for maiden T20I call-up

LAHORE: Young batter Tayyab Tahir has expressed his gratitude to Karachi Kings for giving him a chance to prove his mettle in the Pakistan Super League season 8 and pave the way for his selection in the national team.

Tayyab received his maiden call-up to Pakistan’s T20I side for the three-match series against Afghanistan in Sharjah later this month.

“First of all, I want to thank Karachi Kings fans for supporting us throughout the tournament,” said Tayyab in a video message shared by Karachi Kings on their official Twitter account on Tuesday.

The right-hander added he was grateful to the Kings’ management for providing him with an opportunity to perform on the biggest cricketing stage in the country.

“I get a chance in the national team on this basis,” he acknowledged.

Moreover, he urged the Karachi Kings’ fans to keep supporting the franchise and hoped that he would do well on the international stage.

“I will try to do my best for the Pakistan team as well and make the country proud” he expressed.

Tayyab Tahir's 67*(54) helped his side across the line in the final over while chasing 149 against Lahore Blues in National T20 Cup 2023.

Multan Sultans have selected Tayyab Tahir in the second pick of the Silver round in PSL Draft 2024.

In first innings for Ghani Glass, Tayyab Tahir scored 75(126) against SNGPL in President's Trophy 2023-24.

His performance at the upcoming PSL will be closely monitored by the Pakistan selectors and we may see him in the Pakistan squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup.

After missing a century against KRL in the President's Cup 2024, Tayyab Tahir scored a century, making 107 runs off 117 balls with a strike rate of 91.45 for Ghani Glass against HEC in the 2nd semi-final. I believe it doesn't meet the standard strike rate of List-A modern-day cricket, but he played a good anchor role. Babar Azam didn't give him a proper chance in the Asia Cup 2023. He deserves permanent selection in ODIs.

Tayyab Tahir is an incredibly talented wristy batsman from Gujrat, showcasing a unique blend of finesse and power in his shots. His ability to maneuver the ball with precision and play stylish strokes makes him a treat to watch. Keep an eye on this rising star, as his impressive batting technique and dedication to the game are sure to take him far in the cricketing world!

Pakistan Shaheen's Tayyab Tahir attained ordinary stats in the 2 Four-Day Match series against Bangladesh A in Darwin:

Match: 1

Runs: 73

HS: 43

Average: 36.50

Strike Rate: 42.94

He deserved to play both matches of the series to analyse his readiness for red ball cricket better.

This guy played a good knock today for Pakistan Shaheens in the Top-End T20 series in Darwin against Melbourne Stars but unfortunately, no other batter supported him and eventually they lost by some 47 runs.

He scored a good 57 off 43 balls and was the lone warrior in this game.

I've advocated for Tayyab for so long.

He is not a generational player nor is he that good by any metric but his left foot is better then Chacha and Shadab in the middle order as unlike those 2 frauds He is a genuine Middle order batter who lobes batting at 5 to 6 in odi and no 4 in t20.

Babar has gone put of his way to protect shadab that it's criminal. First pretending he's a bowler to keep out abrar, Then when that faiked pretending he's a specialist batsmen and even that failed.

Same with chacha, Hiding behind the bowling excuse or lower order injustice excuse to excuse the fact that he's a no 11 batter against wrist spin and he's an atrocious bowling.

Tayyab is a better option compared to Usman Khan who has been given so many chances but has not performed yet. Maybe he doesn't have any parchi to help him rise.

He played 3 t20 games only against the world's best spin unit with a team that was crap lol.

That team was sent as a scapegoat. NZ, Eng, Aus and other team who have sent their B to C strings in the past against pakistan usually do so to just aquire 1 or 2 players into the main unit. They know full well their getting thrashed with Someone like Tom Latham is opening.

Pakistan sent that team with no intention of grooming anyone and just maintaing the illusion of why Babar and rizzu are needed.

Salman Ali Agha, Saud Shakeel, Fakhar Zaman, Tayyab Tahir, Abrar Ahmed, Imad Wasim, Omair Bin Yousaf, Kamran Ghulam, Mohammad Haris etc

^^ All these careers ruined or in the process of being ruined due to Imam, Shan, Babar, Rizwan, Shadab amd Chacha.

For example Agha who was averaging 50 at 4 was removed due to rizzu drama, Which led to rizwan failing in 9 games in a row before he performed against sri lanka in asia cup at that no.

Similarly it was due to this no 4 drama that both saud and Agha could not play the world cup together as one of these 2 had to compete for no 5 spot, Even though both should have played every game.

Imam ul haq, Rizwan and Shan have often been used as metrics to drop fakhar temporarily from odi or remove him from opening position in t20 while they proceed to give medicore results at their peaks, Meanwhile fakhar who gives 180+ scores at his peaks is shoved aside.

Abrar Ahmed is shoved aside to protect shadab, A similar case can be made for imad wasim who chacha has proceeded to keep out alongside tayyab tahir because chacha hides behind the bowling clause lol.
