[VIDEOS] The Haris Sohail international comeback thread

I’d agree if his average was 20 or something lol, but he averages 45…so clearly he does score.

I saw one drop catch, I may have missed more but I swear it was just one. Even the fittest players drop catches.

I agree, he isn’t fit…neither is Rohit Sharma. You don’t need to be lean to be good at international level in cricket.

Almost every cricketer in the Pakistan squad smokes shisha, which is worse than cigarettes.
Lol, Rohit has single handedly won so many games for India. He's a beast.
Sohail is goodish and moreso on the eye, will not ever play an innings like Rohit.

Worst thing to happen would be if Haris Sohail edges his way to another flukey 30 odd tomorrow. His fans going gaga would be too much for my ears.

#unfitnessloading #homesicknessloading

Do you know what average Haris Sohail has.Yes he has fitness issues and yes he did drop a catch yesterday but so did Rizwan and Nawaz.

Do you know what was his performance in recently concluded Pakistan cup ?

Haris Sohail looks good when he is scoring runs, which is why so many people rate him highly. Too many people rate batsmen based on pure aesthetics.

It's not about looks it's about impact. He changed game #1 when babar Rizwan were drilling us to the ground.

If you look at his record you will see it's been game changing innings. He doesn't play for average or milestones - you can't say that for many other pak cricketers

Never mind the runs, I will drop him based on that body language alone.

Not a good sign.

What a stupid post. Ak-47 le kar khara ho? ya nanga ho kar khara hojae to show aggression.

He has won many games for Pakistan. Unless you started watching cricket yesterday.

Lol, I remember he choked against the mighty Zimbabwe chasing a modest total in an odi at home.
We just need to accept that he isn't a Williamson or kohli type player who can single handedly win matches.
What makes a player standout is their ability to win matches just like kohli did in this years WC and stay till the end, finish the game and take the team home kind of innings. Even.in PSL, we've seen that he's not been able to take his team home .
That for me is the difference between a good and a great player.

Fitness issue and a liability running between the wickets, couldn't be bothered to get a dive in.

The "its ok to be unfit but you can play 3 good shots brigade" needs to take note.

Little jog.

What a pathetic and lazy individual. He looks like he rather be in tucked in bed than anywhere else. If he was doing a 9-5 office job, he would have been sacked for turning up late. He is so lazy.

Can’t run between wicket and liability against short ball.

It is a shame he is selected ahead of Kamran and Tayyab Tahir

A genuine coward.

If I am to change a fused light, I wouldn't trust him to hold stairs after 19:00HRS in minor dark.

No heart.

Nailed it. This guy would struggle in real world with such attitude.

He has to be worst player ever against short ball from Pakistan.

Remember his test series in Australia. two short balls against him, his feet would be planted on the back foot even when the ball was full.

That's one of the most spineless pieces of cricket I've seen.

Haris tried to duck a bouncer from Ferguson (unwise on a low, slow pitch) and gets hit flush on helmet.

He's backing away so far to leg, and then is run out two balls later to get off strike without even attempting a dive.

No idea why he ran.

There was never a single there.

Even Usain Bolt would have struggled to make it.

He got scared because of the short ball, hence wanted to be off the strike at any cost :)))

The sooner he is dropped the better; he will keep getting selected on the basis of unfair treatment in the past and in the end, when they realise that he is finished at this level, it might be too difficult for his replacement to settle into the middle order (who by the looks of it would be a newbie) before the WC.

I dearly hope the new selection committee is bold enough to drop him immediately.

He is not interested. He didnt want to be there in the middle.

Absolute nonsense.

You have no idea the amount of struggle he has gone through to start playing cricket once again after terrible injuries and his career looking over.

Why wouldn't he want to be out there playing cricket again.

Mark my words, both him and Shan Masood will be selected for the 2023 world cup in India.

It is the Pakistani tradition to have at least 2 tried and tested, unfit, clueless passengers for the world cup.

He has demonstrated that he does not have the mental attitude to succeed at the highest level. This would have been a good chance to give Kamran Ghulam a run in the ODI side so that we could learn something about him.

Most of the times, he denies tight singles/twos which you should be trying more often than not in LOIs. He knows due to his appalling fitness, he is not capable of making singles/turning 1s into 2s. That alone costs the team plenty of runs if he stays there for a lengthy period of time. You can't make up for that every time by hitting boundaries.

On this occasion, he probably was scared to face Ferguson after getting hit and wanted to avoid the strike.

Bhai even though Shan has failed badly, I would always pick Shan over current finished version of Haris. 2 years ago, Haris would be the second name on the team sheet after Babar but if you don't improve your fitness in your thirties then the you'll be finished at the highest level very quickly.

Shan could be tried in the middle order. He is at least decent at strike rotation, has a lot of shots against spin (even though he had a miserable times against them in tests) and can hit out against pace as well. In fact, his strongest format could be ODIs, going by how he plays/constructs his innings in T20s.

But still, I think Kamran Ghulam should get the first look in whenever Haris gets removed from the team.

seems his fitness has even regressed further. sad to see he has not did justice to his talent

He used to bowl a bit. If we can rely on him for a few overs of left arm spin then he'll have utility. As just a batter he's not cutting it. I'd rather have Sarfraz for the #4/5 slot

I hear you but everybody works hard Saj. That is not enough to get picked for your nation.

Have a look at some of his recent numbers in domestic. Its not as if he was breaking records. There were other guys who were doing better than him and were sadly overlooked.

You said "He is not interested. He didnt want to be there in the middle"

I am addressing that point specifically.

The guy spent a lot of time travelling around the world and spending his own money to sort his injury out. The same injury that had been messed up by the PCB medics. The same injury that could have ended his career.

But he was determined to get the injury sorted out, he came to UK and worked very hard with Crystal Palace FC too.

So the saying he didn't want to be in the middle is out of order and incorrect.

There were better performers than him, he didn't deserve to be selected. It is not even close

Agreed with majority of posters he is unfit and callous should be axed permanently move on

Update on Haris Sohail from PCB

Pakistan batter Haris Sohail landed awkwardly on his left shoulder during a fielding drill today.

His initial scans at a local hospital were satisfactory.

The medical team will assess him before the first One-Day International tomorrow to determine his participation in the match.

I have said a quadrillion times, this guy is made of plastic and needs to be kept away but his fans are blinded by his batting average

Supposedly the video of the collision between Haris and Shadab

Harris Sohail could fall in a bouncy castle and still injure himself.

The guy could be wrapped in bubble wrap and still break a bone.

Give him some snickers.

Something about Shadab and catches

Was this supposed to be the fielding coach giving Harris practice but Shadab wanting to be the hero instead?

It was Shadab definitely trying to be a hero.

How is this even possible in training?!?

I really do not have words. Fielding coach giving catching practice and two players collide trying to make the catch? Is the coach not calling? Are the players not calling? Isn’t he giving practice to one player with each throw, like how it’s typically done in practice?

Is this an international teams practice session? Never thought I’d see such a thing at training.

Ridiculous

It was Shadab definitely trying to be a hero.

From the video it looks like Haris ran into him and put in a dive. Maybe trying to justify his place in the side and going extra hard in practice.

What is the need for such intensity in training?

Are we trying to make good fielders of players during practice before an international game?!

PCB update:

Haris Sohail is feeling a little discomfort in his left shoulder. He will be assessed again by the team's medical panel and will continue rehabilitation.

Have a look at the video above of the collision.

I’ve seen worse collisions at a kids party.

If any one of us had the privilege of representing Pakistan cricket team, we’d be doing whatever it takes to play. Imran Khan led his team to a WC victory with a shoulder injury.

Haris Sohail has been given countless opportunities to play for Pakistan, and he keeps throwing it away.

Hope he feels better but glad he is out of the team , he is like Faheem Ashraf, uselss player we keep wasting time on for long time, time to move on.

Iftikhar Ahmed replaces Haris Sohail in ODI squad

Islamabad, 29 April 2023:

Iftikhar Ahmed will replace Haris Sohail in Pakistan’s One-Day International squad for the last three matches against New Zealand
in Karachi. Iftikhar will join the side in Karachi.

The replacement comes in the wake of a shoulder injury to Haris that he sustained on the eve of the first ODI. The middle-order batter landed awkwardly during a fielding drill that injured his left shoulder.

Pakistan team will fly to Karachi on Sunday.

Can't think of too many cricketers who have been so unlucky with injuries throughout their career.

Honestly if this guy finds a place in the World Cup squad i would be super annoyed

Born on this day in 1989 (age 35 years):

Happy Birthday to one the most stylish batters of Pakistan, Haris Sohail, whose career could not take off, like it should have, due to some unexpected events and injuries.

Most talented batsman from Pakistan in the post 2003 era after Umar Akmal.

He actually had/has more potential than Babar but thanks to Misbah and the bum selectors of the time got a look in far too late and then unfortunate injuries cut his time in half.

Hope he gets to end his career on a high.

The haters in this thread were once fans who are now trying to cope with him not playing internationals. I feel your pain.

I don’t say this lightly. But his stylishness in batsmanship rivals Rohit Sharma. All other Asian batsmen in post modern area are 2nd or 3rd place

Haris Sohail goes unsold

Haris Sohail enters at US$ 20,000. Unsold in LPL auction 2024.

Haris Sohail refutes rumours of retirement

Pakistan all-rounder Haris Sohail vehemently denied the rumours of his retirement from international cricket on Thursday.

Haris voiced his disappointment over the spread of false rumours circulating on social media regarding his career, stating that he has no plans to retire from the game any time soon.

“I have not made any decision to retire, nor do I have any such intention. My full focus is on continuing to play the game that I love,” he said in a statement.

In response to the speculations, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) also clarified that they had not received any official communication concerning the retirement of Haris Sohail.

“Pakistan All Rounder” 😂

A fine player who has only himself to blame for playing just 75 international games for Pakistan across all formats. But at least he's played more gems than Babar Azam, who's played over 300 international games.

I agree with this. He was a very good cricketer, but his own lack of fitness issue led to him not playing more games.

I remember how he even opted to stay out of the squad during the covid lockdown times, i think it was the england tour, and after that opting out, he couldnt return back to the team for a long time.

He was known to be very lazy.

One thing i really hated about PCB was that they only selected him in the national team, after seeing his t20 performance with Sialkot Stallions. His List A games and First class games were all ignored.

A stylish left-handed middle-order batsman with an impressive batting average of 44.84 in ODIs and 2806 runs in 75 matches for Pakistan so far.

Happy Birthday to Haris Sohail.

Not sure where this guy has disappeared.

Injured for life.

Batsman who looked class above the rest, even now has a batting average of 45 in ODIs.

Could play spin and paxe both equally well - dynamic left handed middle order batter. Certainly much more versatile than Saud.

However, poor fitness did it for him and his case to be a leading run scorer for Pakistan - even gor run out in very last ODI versus NZ.

Probably Misbah also delayed his induction in team by 2/3 years when he was scoring runs for fun in domestic.

Wouldn’t call him unlucky because most of it was his own undoing. He was lazy, a smoker and also the way he refused to tour England for the COVID series was pretty ridiculous.

On talent, he was on par with Babar. Should have been Pakistan’s long-term #4 in all formats for a decade.
