Quite a bad day for Babar's fans first his innings was one of the reason Pak lost the game then he wasn't drafted into The Hundred.
Obviously they were not going to pick Babar. He is quite an average player as far as T20's are concerned & this Hundred format has even less balls than T20. Babar brings absolutely nothing to the team in T20's & nobody would have wanted to see 50 balls 70 from Babar in The Hundred.

“Babar Azam never applied for the NOC for the English summer-that means he is not interested despite being one of the few overseas who are bracketed among the top category. He could have walked easily in any team as every English county was looking forward to luring him. Yet he preferred to stay away from hectic commitments more in order to concentrate fully on the national summer commitment,” as per sources
“Pakistan have busy summer and that is possibly why Babar has decided to rest and prepare and concentrate fully on these commitments. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has issued NOCs to the majority of the cricketers signed up for different counties in England."

Think you will ticket sales will be strong as this coincides with the kids breaking up for holiday
Can’t say I am particularly looking forward to the Hundred. I have tickets for one of the Northern Superchargers matches at Headingley but this is mainly for the kids to enjoy a day out.
To be honest the women’s T20 competition in the Commonwealth Games and the men’s 50 over cup that is about to start in England both appeal to me more.
I imagine with each passing year the Hundred will improve, as other competitions have.![]()

Is Naseem Shah still playing for Welsh Fire?
Jonny Bairstow is going to have a rest ahead of the South Africa men's Test series so won't be featuring in The Hundred this year.
Here is a statement from Welsh Fire on the news: We understand Jonny's decision and wish him all the best. We can't wait to get our Hundred campaign under way tomorrow night and then look forward to getting back in front of our own fans at Sophia Gardens on Sunday.
His comments:
"I'm really disappointed I won’t be part of The Hundred this year. I loved it last year, but I’ve had a hectic few months with the schedule as it is and I really need to take a breather before the South Africa Test series. All the best to the Welsh Fire Men and Women - I'll be cheering you on."

No Naseem Shah!

Bit of a strange course of events surrounding this draft.
Very little public interest in the UK (and zero outside of cricket circles) due to a mishandled and drip-fed rollout.
Loads of big names not purchased.
Some proven ordinary players picked.
Just quite uninspiring and odd.
I find it completely uninteresting. Pseudo-cricket with screaming commentators.
This tournament is a complete failure.
The idea was good but the execution was awful.
ECB need to do a full review… who decided to make the players walking crisp packets![]()
Big crowds with a noticeably younger average age, good TV audiences with loads of new viewers and a significant amount of games available to watch without a sky subscription. Looks like it's been perfect to me.
Tickets are priced at £15 and most of the crowd are just going to get drunk. They looked thoroughly bored with the match today. Even the likes of Butler and Dre Russ seemed dull playing as crisp packets.
Its complicated to watch on tv with all the gimmicks just making it hard to follow.
Im not the biggest fan of the Hundred and don’t like the 16.4 over innings length, but the whole thing was created as a money spinner & on that front it is certainly succeeding.
In the short term maybe. But it was created to be a money machine to complete with IPL, and be a step up from BBL/ PSL etc. In that aim, it has failed. Had they simply put all this effort into a t20 league with a few fresh ideas/ lots of funding, they could have slotted straight into that number 2 slot after IPL and bought new fans to the game.
