[VIDEOS] The puzzle that is Khushdil Shah...

Khushdil Shah has improved his bowling. Has he become a spin all-rounder?

Look at his bowling stats from Pakistan Cup 2023-24. He is 3rd in the list of most wickets in the tournament

Wickets 14
BBI 3/23
Ave 18.64
Econ 4.20
That stat tells us a lot about the standard of batsmanship vs spin in Pakistan.

He is not a puzzle player. It's easy to understand that he is not international material just like Haider Ali.

Khushdil Shah made a match winning contribution with with bat and ball in his team's win over Azad Jammu Kashmir in the National T20 Cup 2023-24. He is playing for FATA. He scored 54 runs off 40 balls and picked up a wicket.

Always thought he was done hard by in ODIs which is his best format. Deserved a good run at #4 where I think he would have done great.

Only got 8 innings in ODIs where he never batted above 5 and came in at 6, 7 twice, and 8 once.

54 runs off 40 balls in domestic is equivalent 27 runs off 20 in international cricket

Highlights of his today's 54 runs off 40 innings in National T20 Cup 2023.

Khushdil Shah bowled well today for Comilla Victorians against Rangpur Riders in the BPL 2024 match as he finished his 4-over spell for 25 runs and also got a prized wicket of Babar Azam.

On this day in 1995, Khusdil Shah was born. (age 29 years)

So far, the left-handed player has played for Pakistan in 10 One Day Internationals (ODIs) and 27 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), making a total of 543 runs in these matches.

Happy birthday to him.

28 (13) from Khushdil today, his effort got Multan to something respectable. Too bad for Multan that he came in too late; and she has shown his capability to play cameo's at the tail end of an innings.

It will take a lot to bring him back to international cricket. He was booed off the pitch in his last game for Pak and cried in the dressing room broken and ashamed.

He could come back if he sticks with his bowling and develops it.

No matter who does what in the PSL, my opinion about players who have already failed in international cricket will not change.

After a failure at international level he is keep falling at domestic level too, is he eligible enough to play in PSL?

Khushdil Shah performances:

In PSL 2022, Khushdil Shah scored 153 runs with a highest score of 32 in 12 matches.

In PSL 2023, Khushdil Shah managed 72 runs in 11 matches with a highest score of 25

In PSL 2024, Khushdil Shah scored 68 runs in 10 matches with a highest score of 28*

I stand by this, he could have been great in our middle order for the world cup had he been given a decent run

Khushdil Shah is one of the reasons Multan Sultans are choking in PSL finals. Someone has misjudged him as a cricketer.

Khushdil Shah in a recent interview expressed disappointment on him being dropped from the ODI side:

“Based on my T20I performance, I have been dropped from the ODI team which was disappointing for me. However, I did receive the man of the match award the last time I played, I am working hard to earn my place back in the team.”

PCB lost confidence in him after he broke down in the dressing room after failing against England in the final T20 game in Karachi in 2022. No need for such mentally weak players

Khushdil is performing again. Please don't say to bring him back to the international team.

He scored a much-needed innings of 73 off 45 against top-side Markhors in the Champions One Day Cup 2024. This is his 15th half-century in List A cricket.

Khushdil Shah derails Markhors' run chase by removing both key batters, Fakhar Zaman and Iftikhar Ahmed, and even Rizwan is struggling to pick his length.

I know Khushdil was absolutely terrible just before he was dropped from Pakistan side, but I am liking what I am seeing so far in the Champions Cup. He could be a nice number 6 in the ODI XI and can also chip in with a few tight overs too.

M Rizwan as a skipper will defo get the best out of Khushdil Shah.

Khusdil Shah played a brilliant innings tonight against the Dolphins, scored 60 runs off just 40 deliveries but he couldn’t win the game for his side.

Khushdil should work on his bowling a bit more. Could be a handy bits and pieces player in some conditions.

Pak cricket is in its darkest hour when people are suggesting Kushdil make a come back to the squad

What really happened there? I think he is worth another go.

This is why Champions Cup is such a great idea by Naqvi. You can rediscover little gems like Khushdil in a sea of mediocrity. Good stuff.

He started crying because the crowd called him a parchi.
I see. Look I don’t think we should discard him just for that. He is still a bits & pieces cricketer but he can be useful to Pakistan’s fragile ODI team.

Tbh he’s nothing special. He might be useful to keep on the fringes of selection but there are a handful of players who can play the same role. Nothing really stands out about him.

It's one thing facing domestic Pakistan pacers but it's another facing intl. quality pacers.

Going from facing Mohammad Imran Jnr, to Jofra Archer is a tall task for any Pakistan batter let alone Khushdil.

Khushdil Shah bowled a brilliant spell for Lions as he claimed 3 wickets at expense of only 40 runs against Stallions in the Champions One-Day Cup 2024.

If Khushdil Shah cant make a comeback based on this, then might as well dump the tournament.

As bad as kushdil is he's still a much better option than the likes of Salman, Tayyab for t20s.

Khushdil and Sachin are the only two players who I can recall that have been booed by their home fans.

Well-deserved Man of the Match for Khushdil Shah, Lions' all-rounder, who starred with 57* (22) and 2/22, guiding his team to a 35-run victory over the Dolphins.

Rangpur Riders' Khushdil Shah stunned Fortune Barishal with 3 wickets, conceding only 18 runs in 4 overs in BPL 2025.

Khushdil Shah played a breathtaking knock of 48 off 24 balls, including 5 sixes for Rangpur Riders against Fortune Barishal in the BPL 2025. He is undoubtedly showing impressive form in this tournament.

He is having a really good BPL with good all-round performances and there are rumors that he might be make a comeback into the national side ahead of the Tri-Nation Series and the Champions Trophy.

Makes more sense than Tayyab & Irfan considering how low Pakistan is playing those guys and they're not all-rounders. With Saim potentially out and Pakistan going with 4 specialist bowlers, maybe the plan becomes Khushdil at 7 who can be a power hitter at the end and be another spin option with Saim likely being out. Salman would be that 5th bowler but just in case and depending on matchup, Khushdil could bowl that 5th bowler quota.

Fair point. He is a better choice than these two because Tayyab doesn't bowl and Irfan hasn't get any chances to bowl much for the national side. Khushdil will also give a left-handed batter option that can also be handy. He can be in the playing XI along with Irfan but certainly a better choice than Tayyab in my opinion.

I don't know why people think Irfan can bowl. He a batsmen not an all rounder. He's hardly ever bowled at domestic and never ever bowled in list A.

What are your thoughts on Khusdil for no7?
If we are going to play Tayyab at 7 then I rather have Kushdil as he has the power game for that position. If Tayyab is played he shouldn't be batting any lower than 6.

I would personally like to persist with Irfan and give him more time. Kushdil will be ideal at 7 if you have guys at 8 who can bat. Unfortunately with the current set up it's not the case. If we have someone decent at 8 I will go for Kushdil.

Nothing puzzling about it at all, our domestic bowlers are idiots who keep bowling straight to him and he feasts on the leg side. It took Zimbabwe of all teams a single game to work this out, and they dried up his runs completely afterwards. Khushdil's off side game is so poor he makes makes Rizwan look like a maestro in comparison

khushdil is certainly back among the talk now because of his BPL performance. Not sure if he is gonna make a comeback in the upcoming tri-series. I think that is too much.

He should ve never been dropped from odis. He was not that bad. He should be played more odis and not t20s. But i think he is the guy for us if we need a player at 7 otherwise we ll fall back to shadab

Worst, parchi selection ever. This guy has never performed for Pakistan in a clutch moment despite playing 50 matches. I fact, I don’t think he’s ever performed to begin with, let alone in a clutch moment.

He’s so bad that it’s actually embarrassing and sad to see. We deserve to lose this trophy for selecting someone so mediocre.

He helped chase down 349 vs Aussie at the end and scored unbeaten 41 off 23 balls to help Pakistan chase down 306 vs WI.

He's been a rubbish T20 player but he's useful in ODI's. Just don't expect him to start hitting as soon as he gets into the crease. He takes some balls but once he finds his zone he can hit plenty of sixes and bowl some decent spin. Seems acceptable for what his role will be as a 7th batter in the lineup.

Dread the day! When Khusdil tonks Indian attack into submission, CT will be his tourney like Klusener in 99

Khusdil is an utterly useless player, in the Asif Ali and Usman Khan category only hyped by @Rana Even Naseem Shah and Shaheen are better hitters than this pretender.

10 ODIs

27 T20Is

543 runs in international cricket

Happy Birthday to Khushdil Shah who turned 29 today.
