Umar's caliber is now street level, let alone club cricket. From the way he is aging, I'm afraid he will downgrade to school level in a year or two.

If Asif Ali is getting into the playing xi then there’s no reason why Umar Akmal can’t get into the team. Umar Akmal is a better fielder and probably the best middle order batsman Pakistan has had since 2009. If what I’ve said wasn’t true then we wouldn’t be playing players like Asif Ali and Sarfaraz Ahmed. Pakistan has failed to find a replacement for Umar Akmal. And, it’s unfair to say he’s gone to street level simply because we haven’t seen him play much recently, however I do recall he was one of the leading run scorers for the domestic season a couple of years ago.
I’m sure 99.9% of pakistani cricket fans would chose Umar Akmal over the like of Khushdil and Asif Ali. The 0.1% think we have a butler or stokes waiting for a call up.
It's too late for umar akmal now. Pakistan have already wasted him by playing as a slogger in LOIs and keeping away from test cricket without any reason and a better replacement. Strange that he has been given so many chances in ODIs and T20s but his batting position just gets rotated after every match. And never tried as an opener where he was best suited for LOIs. Opening slot is the easiest and most suited for stroke makers and the temperament umar akmal have that would have been a no pressure position for him. He could have excelled in that role. Too short vision from Pakistan team management towards batting as always. That's the reason of lack of batting culture in Pakistan cricket.

If junk like Asif Ali can make it to the team it doesn’t mean junk like Umar Akmal should make a comeback. It’s delusional to think he would walk into the team as our best middle order bat, he’s a failure at the international level.

I’ll say this again, there’s a reason why Asif Ali is being picked. It’s because Pakistan lacks genuine power hitters. They also lack players who can change gears in the middle order. There’s only one player in our current team that can do it, it’s a 40 year old Hafeez. When a 40 year old Hafeez is performing better than the newbies, and a power hitter whose averaging similar to Afridi after nearly 20 games then you know there’s a shortage of quality batsmen. People will throw out all sorts of names as replacements, and when those names get their opportunities and fail, they’ll be forgotten about and the cycle repeats itself.
Umar Akmal’s career average is similar to Hales’ and Roy’s, but Umar’s an international failure and the other two are “world class”

I don't care what Pakistani fans want because 99.9% of them are delusional. They will replace a performing, hardworking, and honest player like Rizwan with an unmotivated and unfit fixer like Sharjeel.

Can’t be any worse than India’s Rohit Sharma and Rishab Pant. Being fit doesn’t make you a better cricketer, take Shan Masood as an example.
However, if Umar Akmal really wanted to come back into the team he’d be focusing more on his fitness and practicing in the nets instead of making TikToks. What amazes me even more is the fact that his cousin has become the captain of the national team, so UA should be saying to himself that he’s still got an opportunity to put his career in the right path, but instead he chooses to make cringy freshy type videos

Anyone who thinks Umar can walk into the Pak team as of today is delusional and knows nothing about cricket. This isn’t a video game, Umar requires a long rehab process both physically and mentally, then a solid domestic season before he would even be considered.

Tbh his so called talent means nothing. His dumb sheningans off the field will always be an issue. He has had a gazillion chances like Asif and has squandered all of them. The PCB themselves are sick of him and I am certain will not select him again

To get the best out of him he needs to be played in the top order in tests and ODIs with full backing and confidence.
In the last 4-5 years he’s been the best test batsman in Pakistan and a decent top order bat in ODIs capable of winning matches on his day.

Was he wasted and mistreated? Sure. But we must move past it because I feel he is completely uncoachable and unmanageable especially in Pakistan. His own work ethic and attitude the last few years has also been atrocious.

You said bringing player x into the team would give stability in the middle order, if that’s not backing someone then idk what is. The worst part is that you think he should be in the T20 team, that’s more embarrassing than my views about Umar Akmal.
Who would I be talking about Umar Akmal of course he’s been one of the best test and ODI top order batsmen in Pakistan in recent times but Misbah doesn’t think so.
Just because Misbah doesn’t play somebody doesn’t mean they aren’t capable of doing better than the ones currently selected.

If you have a problem with a Pakistani cricketer making cringe videos and taking weird photos then you basically have a problem with 99% of the Pakistani players in the current team.
Just look at Babar softie Azam, our captain. He wasn’t happy with the squad selections for the WT20, but hours later he’s posting weird photos on SM thinking he’s some kind of model.

He is over 30. You don't invest in grooming of players in this age group. I watched his batting in domestic cricket on youtube recently. He looked like older cousin on Azam Khan and was struggling to time spinners. His time is up and he knows it. He will play few seasons of PSL thats it.

In the 2nd XI for Central Punjab. I think their T20 tournament has already finished and the 50 over competition will start on 28th, might be wrong.
