[VIDEOS] Usama Mir - International performance watch

How can the PCB develop mental acumen?

These are just dumb guys.
i didnt say the pcb develops their acumen, but attaches greater importance to assessing mental strength, you dont need xi einsteins, but you need at least 3 or 4 guys who can think on the others behalf. At this moment i dont think theres even one guy who has any exceptional mental strengths.

pakistani society has massive cynism of analytical approaches, and its reflected in the cricket team, even hayden said he tried to get them to bat sessions or periods, but they went at whatever pace felt more natural to them. he highlighted it as a positive, but its obvious if u read between the lines what he really meant.

He was actually turning the ball, something I haven’t seen Shadab doing at all recently. He should play the match against Afghanistan on the spinning pitch, we’ll have a better idea then.

Not really. He said that many batsmen were natural reactive batsmen like Adam Gilchrist and it was better not to give them set targets. Batting is, after all, mostly a process where you are reacting naturally to the ball and the conditions.

I don't think he meant anything else by that.

You have to look at the think-tank and wonder why we have several players in the squad who have hardly played any ODIs.

You have 4 years to prepare and our lot throw players in last-minute hoping they will perform.

Clueless planning.
Yeah this struck me as weird as well. So many players who have played so few ODIS are in the WC squad!!! Usama, Saud, Agha, etc. Even Ifti has played very few. Same as those in reserves.

Usama made a mess when he dropped that catch. He gave away 80 plus runs as well and then when he came to bat, he showed everyone that he is not a batter who can give you 20 39 runs when needed.
He should be given another match though.1 match is not enough to judge any player's caliber.

he was the batting consultant, and as the batting consultant he devised strategies for the team and he was diplomatically stating that the team weren't following through on them, adam gilchrist was a legend of the game and attacked all the time, the Pakistani batters are not of the same stature and tend to go into their shell when dominated.

I think it depends from batter to batter. From some, you get more by giving them set targets . Others are better off trusting their instincts .

They need more mental tweaks to get them in an aggressive, run scoring frame of mind more often than not

He is below average. As I pointed out in another thread he just doesn't seem to gain any momentum in his action, there is no hustle that leggies usually have and the ball comes out at a very full and loopy trajectory. Spin, if any, will be so slow that no international batsman will be troubled by it unless it's a rank turner. Add to it his lack of control and he is almost like a club bowler at this level. Also seems to be the kind of guy who gets cowed the moment you attack him. Shoulders slump body language becomes negative. We could've done so much better with Abrar.

They have to select these lallus in the team so they can be made the scapegoats for a lacklustre performance In world cup .

Looks like an Indian troll is running that account.

There is a tweet from a few days ago where he’s apologizing to Babar Azam dropping the catch.

The whole account is weird Bollywood comedy.
Usama Mir and Abdullah Shafique poor lads want to look cool and trendy

I'm sure he's a lovely lovely guy snd I wish him all the very best in his future endeavours.
P45 is in the post

The guy just looked scared and nervous. Every time the camera would go on him between deliveries he looked like he didn't want to be there.

Whether the Warner and Marsh shellacking is still playing on his mind or that he was never really that good in the first place, in any case that should be his last game for at least the rest of this World cup.

Feel sorry for him, to make his debut in the World Cup and to fail so miserably, should of been given his debut before the tournament

Usama has been around a while so wasn’t quite lamb to the slaughter like it would have been if we picked Abrar or Saim.

I think Usama performed to the best of his ability really and that was purely mediocre.

Shout out to the worst bowling coach of all time though. Morne must be loving his paid holiday to India for all the good he’s been.

Doesn't look international class, even mentally. Maybe he can improve in the future.

His 2 outings in this world cup looked very ordinary. He showed no real threat to any batter as of yet.

After a dismal couple of performances he has been replaced in the side with Mohammad Nawaz again.

He is a full toss master

He's a master of spraying it

This pitch-map shows you just how pooly he bowled today. At one point "short of good length" was the most frequent length bowled.

We got lucky with Shafique otherwise SL game was a loss aswell.

He seems like not being integrated with team, as someone who is being played as a no option as a player the guy himself is not very confident looks like the end of road for him

Not good enough he hasn't shown in any game in this world cup that he's a good bowler.

He must get rid of the full tosses. He bowls too many of them that usually proved costly for him and the team.

Don't know whether height is his advantage or disadvantage there is a long hop after very 4 deliveries

He needs to get consistent with his lengths and cut off the full tosses otherwise he will continue to get smashed. I’m surprised at this level he is still spraying full tosses. Maybe it has something to do with his confidence level.

Dropped today in favour of a pacer. He had the opportunity to secure his spot but couldn't capitalize

All of them usama Nawaz and shadab should never play for Pakistan again
All of them are pathetic with zero control.
They can't even bowl 6 balls on a single spot.

Poor World Cup for him

4 wickets, 248 runs conceded, econ rate of 7.08, average 62

His dropped catch against Warner has stopped India winning the World Cup.

No other team could have beaten India.

Thank you Usama Mir!

Usama Mir makes it into the Pakistan squad for the T20 series against New Zealand in New Zealand in 2024.

He is also making his debut today for Pakistan's T20 side against New Zealand in the 1st t20 match of the series. In the absence of Shadab, this is his chance to make an impact and cement his place in the world cup squad.

Usama mir's debut went horribly wrong as he goes for plenty. 51 runs in 4 overs for him.

With Abrar struggling to regain his fitness, Shadab will walk back into the team without having to find his “form” back.

Usama Mir will get you a wicket or two but he’ll also be taken to the cleaners in at least 3 of his 4 overs.

Hes simply not good enough. His performance and especially his body language just screams his poor mentality as a player and a bowler. While everyone was sitting seriously in the dug out, he was having a laugh with ajmal. We need to give Qadir more chances. Mir has more matches this series. Happy to be proven wrong but i doubt thats happening.

Not a great day for Mir. 0/51 with the ball and 1 with the bat.
You know its bad when you want Nawaz to play instead

Why are not we giving Usman Qadir more chances?

I really wanted him to succeed and I still do but he lacks mentality and his body language is awful. He's a no 10/11 batsman despite what people have said. He needs a lot of time with a sports psychologist.

Why are not we giving Usman Qadir more chances?

Out of every spinner we’ve tried in the last 3 years, he’s probably had the most revs on the ball, but he bowls way too many half trackers and full tosses like the rest

He deserves one more go. Shadab is a pathetic spin bowler and so is nawaz. We desperately need to find a replacement. I heard they were sending mehran mumtaz as abrar’s replacement. Is he already there?

He is an awful bowler and an awful batsman. He also has a poor body language. Looking at his face, he looks like a scared little kitten. Awful player with an awful mentality.

Agha is in the same league as Shadab and Nawaz. They cant spin the ball.
Still much better than Usama Mir who can't bat, bowl or field and looks terrified every time he came up to bowl. Send him back to domestic cricket and let him learn how to bowl a consistent line.

I like this comment. Agha will be better option
Why dont you guys want someone like Mehran or Qadir to get a chance?

I would still give atleast 3 chances to Mir even thou hes a crap bowler and even worse than Qadir.

When has he ever performed or even threatened to perform in big matches? I don't get the obsession with this guy.

After watching Usama Mir's performance, I can safely say that this guy is a waste of time. It's better to invest in any other spinner rather than giving him so many chances.

what a waste of space this guy is. He can't bowl consistently in one area. He is all over the place.

Watch how he performs in PSL now, he will be top drawer but the guy is not international level

Usama's debut was worth forgetting. It is amazing yet shocking to see that iffi did not bowl to complete the quota. Usama was going all over the park yet he was made to bowl 4 overs.

He won't perform in the PSL either. He's got a patchy record at best.

Another chance for Usama mir to forget his debut match and start fresh today as he is playing the 2nd T20 match as well against New Zealand.

Usama finally got his first wicket of the T20 career. He got Finn Allen bowled for 74 runs as he was looking dangerous. Still gave away 33 runs in 3 overs so far.

He should play franchise cricket only.. Not good enough for internationals.

More and more evidence that this guy is simply not good enough. Give him 2 more matches and call it curtains. Pakistan has too big of a population to waste on players like him.
