[VIDEOS] Usman Qadir's performance watch in international matches

Yes, leg spin is hard to master in , there is no short cut, practice , practice and practice. Also lack of experience in FC cricket causing this problem. He needs to play 4 day games and should bowl in nets for hours on daily basis .

I have watched quite bit of him and as you may or may not know, I spent years with my own son in a desperate bid to make it as a leg spinner. Ultimately, he wasn't good enough and my instinct is telling this guy has only a 10-20% chance of making it. Control comes from a repeatable action and on the face of its repeatable but the varying lengths telll me it is. Its a shame because we need a wicket taking spinner in the middle overs.

Another with not enough first-class matches. He's only played 11 first-class matches since his debut in 2013.

All spinners need 1000s of overs In matches to hone their skills. They need patient captains and bowling intelligence and lots of luck. UQ has a bit of talent but I have been bitterly disappointed by his lack of control. Leg spinning is very difficult but he has no control at all.

He should have had 50 fc to his name by now at his age That why he lacks control n patience

Its an issue with all our players young batsmen and bowlers Hardly any are playing enough fc cricket and it shows in their results

He will never play 50 FC games given his age. As they only play around 10 a year that would take 4 years minimum and that is without taking into account conditions and form.

he throws up too many long hops for the batters to take easy runs ..... not an international player material i know a lot of you wont like it,,,, but is see him a liability in the team

As others have pointed out, he lacks control - bowls way too many full tosses and long hops. Better batsmen would have REALLY taken him to the cleaners.

Excellent figures from Usman Qadir 3/29 in 4 - brought us back into this game

He shouldn't be in the team.

Way too many loose balls bowled and will get carted around against the better teams.

A poor first over today and then pulled it back.

He bowls some cracking deliveries, but to become a top-class bowler he needs to reduce the freebies.

But in order for him to improve, he needs to be given more chances.

Thats the beauty of a leggie.

Haters would say this Zimbabwe team bats like a club team but hey only time will tell how Usman does against big guns. I would have him in my playing XI any day of the week.

He is more of a wicket taker than Shadab

Both him and Zahid should be eying that one spot. Zahid kind of disappointed me at the PSL, although I think he seems a more reliable option

Zahid was pur under extreme pressure due to silly immature and childish tactics of sarfraz!!! His control and line and length are far better than any other leg spinner in domestic circuit.
Usman qadir needs to play more especially at domestic level but he certainly is a wicket taker much better than shadab. Shadab has slight edge in fielding and batting.

Agreed, Sarfaraz was screaming in Zahid's ear constantly and honestly i'm sure Zahid would have loved to punch him. Hard to bowl to your full potential in that sort of scenario!

I think he's a must for the world cup.he can bowl some world class deliveries with the odd rubbish ball.

PSL has ruined Usman Qadir

The truth is that PSL has ruined UQ. At first Lahore Qalandars picked him in 2017 but did not play him even in a single game during the whole season due to which he moved to Australia and wanted to play for them but after being selected in Pakistan squad in 2019, the best time for him to get selected and judged was in PSL. In PSL, he was selected by Multan Sultans where they did not even try to play him even a single game because of washed-out overseas player Imran Tahir even though Usman bowled well whenever he got picked for Pakistan or Multan Sultans. His record in Pakistan colors have been good so far even though he played against weak teams but still. We know that Pakistan selects players on the basis of PSL even in Tests let alone T20 so why would they think of selecting UQ in playing XI when he hardly plays in PSL. Multan Sultans have ruined Usman Qadir.

He should be part of the xi but it will be hard for him do displace both imad and shadab in t20s

Taken an important wicket of Andre Russell in the 1st T20I vs WI

Usman Qadir really disappointed me in the last T20 against England but then I realise that leggies get confidence by playing more regularly. He is doing OK for now and is defo a better option than Imad Wasim.

If you heard Rizwan saying to him to bowl with a cool head etc - think they realize its all about confidence.

Nawaz should be in reserves and Usman Qadir in main squad its strange

Should be given a chance in these games against Bangladesh

With Shadab Khan not being completely fit, Usman Qadir should be. But I don't know if he will be useful in Australia.

Excellent cameo by Usman

Pathetic bowling... No line and length. Full tosses galore

Another - and a big one

Batted well and was bowling very well too until he lost the plot at the end of his spell.

Just a few bad deliveries due to a wet ball.

Otherwise he was a breath of fresh air with so much mediocrity on display, finally good to see a skilful spinner in this team during this Aus tour.

Shame it took the last match

He is a leggie who can turn the ball. I would have preferred him in the test team instead of Sajid for sure against the Aussies.

The guy is mediocre.

A full strength Aussie side would have absolutely hammered, the same way he was in the PSL.

If you want him to be your match winner bowler, then you need to have patience with him.

Otherwise, plenty of uncle spinners on the sideline who can do the job for a year or so

He surely is a better option then bawa Ifti and Uncle Zahid.

Usman has played enough games now against lower opposition to get a long rope in the first team where he ought to develop more through the expected troughs.

Pakistan have a weird fetish for Uncle spinners

Born: August 10, 1993 (age 29 years), Lahore, Pakistan

Happy Birthday to Usman

Career not taken off in the way he probably thought it would.

With Shadab, Nawaz and Iftikhar in the 15-man squad, is the inclusion of Usman Qadir necessary for a WC in Australia?

How does this pie chucker warrant a plane ticket to Australia on national expense?

He absolutely doesn't. It's a wasted spot. There's no way we are going to trust this full toss machine in a worldcup game.
If a spinner is injured it's much better to play a seamer instead of fulltoss Qadir.

To think they could've picked Imad Wasim over this junk looool but ofcourse Wasim won't because he has a personal issue with Qadir.

Unfortunately if you remove Zimbabwe from his stats, his economy rate in T20Is is 8.62

Too many freebies mixed in with some good deliveries.

He has this series to make a mark, let's see

Parchi player. Got selected through connection similar like Asif, Ifti and Khussdil.

Long hop got him a wicket - cannot bowl like that!

Awful bowler who has no control. Picks up two wickets on rubbish bowls. He is not even club cricket standard.

His performance of 2/36 was called "brilliant" by the Pakistani analysts in the post-match show. I'm sure today's performance of 2 wickets for umpteen runs will also pick up similar laurels and accolades from them.

Bowls too much trash. I don't understand why an international level bowler has such little control. Each spell contains 2 excellent deliveries and about 10 full tosses or half trackers.

Ready-made excuses for fans (if any). Pick one and pass:

1) He was the highest wicket taker in the match.
2) Dahani also went was a ton without any wicket.
3) He's just rusty because of sitting on the bench for too long.
4) Leggies need real match practice to get better.
5) He bowled some scorchers but got unlucky.

A trash bowler

It's a shame that he is playing ahead of Imad Wasim

Except for Babar, think you will struggle to find many backers of him.

He is in the team because of Babar. This guy is not even first class league material.

milking his last name. I remember in U-19 WC also he got more chances despite Shahzaib much better leg spinner than him.

Not good enough as a specialist bowler I am afraid.

Why he is playing ahead of a gun player like Imad Wasim is beyond me

He’s ahead of Imad because they’re not competing for the same spot. Qadir is backing up Shadab whilst Imad has been displaced by Nawaz.

Qadir has been poor, but it’s the young lad Abrar who may displace Qadir, given that both are wrist spinners.

I understand Shadab is being rested but I rather play better bowlers without worrying about the type of bowlers.

If both Nawaz & Imad can provide 8 tight overs plus can bat, then whats the harm? There are no medals for variety and winning means everything.

Shadab is an al rounder by the way.

It’s because Imad has become a power play specialist for the last half a decade. And when he has bowled outside the power play, he’s not nearly been as effective. Pakistan want to use two quicks to open the bowling in Oz. That is why Imad is not in the squad, as he’s essentially competing with a quick for his place.

Also, Nawaz and Imad in the same attack is much of a muchness.

Leg spinners are supposed to be attacking options.

Qadir is simply not good enough but it also doesnt help that Babar has no clue how to use Qadir.

He's genuinely the worst bowler I have ever seen play at international level. There's always a couple of loose deliveries every over. Even the wickets he got were from poor deliveries.

Not very often you get a front-line bowler in the starting XI and who doesn't bowl a single ball in the innings as what happened today.

As per sources, Usman Qadir's injury has improved and is expected to be fit ahead of the fifth T20I of the series in Lahore on Wednesday.

Had he bowled, we definitely would have lost yesterday’s game so thank God he didn’t bowl.
