Saw a little of Hassan in the last FC game he played where he made a mockery of himself by doing what he did to Tabish - looked quite out of it in general and was just going through the motions in bowling at what seemed like 130-135kph.

Karachi: Right-arm pacer Hasan Ali has reportedly picked up another injury during the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy (QeA) 2020-21.

According to a local news channel, the 26-year-old is now uncertain to further participate in the remaining matches of the tournament.

Hasan didn’t come to bowl in the second innings of Central Punjab’s fixture against Northern. He has taken five wickets in three innings of the tournament.

It was also reported that he has also undergone scans at a local hospital in Karachi. The results will further help in assessing his chances of participating in the remaining matches of the QeA Trophy.

If he is unfit, he might be ruled out of the Peshawar Zalmi squad for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season five knock-out stage, scheduled to start from November 14.

It must be noted that Hasan suffered an injury setback after PSL 5 group stage in March 2020. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) decided to provide financial assistance to Hasan in June.

He was not part of Central Punjab’s squad for the National T20 Cup but made his comeback before QeA Trophy and managed to play only two matches.

Keep your feet firmly on the ground, kids.

It's sad but this is an example of what can happen when you think too much of yourself too quickly. Hassan thought he was a superstar after CT17 and within 3 years he's faded away almost completely.

Multiple reoccurrences of the same injury, very different to cases where people stopped working hard. Problem with Hassan is he is working hard but not working smart - apparently he has been doing more workouts to strengthen his core muscles than he is working on his lower back

So him thinking he's good made his body break?

The fact that he has an extroverted personality, means he isn't working hard?
Get a grip. He is working hard behind the scenes but it isn't happening for him.
The human body doesn't always listen to what the mind wants it to do.
Had you played competitive sport, you would have known this very well.

Well atleast this time it isnt back.

As per sources he is working with a physiotherapist in Karachi who has asked him for a rest of one week and will wait for MRI scan before making any further decision. He is only doing light training as of now. He will remain in Karachi and is expected to join Zalmi’s squad if the results are not too serious.

I don't see him back an International comeback anytime soon. With the new brand of 145+ bowlers being preferred, he needs to get back his nip and pace and be at the stumps all the time to come back.

Hassan Ali is a good example of poor work ethic + poor board management + clueless vision.

Fakhar, Hassan, Faheem, Shadab and a few others were all young guns at the CT 2017, and I can bet you that any other top cricket board would have groomed them into world beaters, combined with the work ethic of the individuals also.

Take an example of India. Jadeja, Bumrah, Rohit, Shami - all of these guys also started young with that 'talent' or spark that was seen. Look where they are now. The same happens with Australia and England too.

It requires a collective mechanism to get the best out of the guys you have, and the PCB is crap at it. On top of that the individuals don't help themselves either by becoming chichore on the field.

Look at our guys then. Lulz all round.

I blame the bowling coach and the mansgemt they dont know to manage the workload of thier bowlers same thing will happen to Shaheen hes played every single game for the last 2 months without any rest of recovery

Always surprised how our lot is so comfortable to assume that just by looking at someone's personality, they can tell how much hard work they put in.

The situation does look quite grim for Hassan. Our current fast bowling stock is decent and with Hassan's injuries not going away, hard to break into the team for him any time soon.

I love how his perceived arrogance can cause his injuries. Ah PP.

Well when I asked him if his injury is bad, he said no, it's people trying to make up stories.

Wahab Riaz has said in presser that Hassan is still not fully recovered although he is training with the PZ side, but will not play in first PSL game and hopefully will be available for next game.

Hassan Ali thanking his fans.

Setback after setback!

Now ruled out of the Eliminator game for PZ vs LQ

Was setting behind the boundary with Haider Ali during KK vs MS match.

As per sources Hassan Ali is back for CP after recovering and is going to captain the side in the absence of Azhar Ali.

Leading Central Punjab in Round 5 of Quaid-e-Azam Trophy

From PCB Report for Day 2 of QeA20:

Central Punjab skipper Hasan Ali was the pick of the bowlers with two wickets for 79.

From Day 4 report of Round 5 of QeA20

Hasan Ali smashed 59 not out off 53, which lifted Central Punjab to 459 all out. The Central Punjab captain crunched 10 fours and a six as he stitched a 94-run stand – 58 of which were scored on the fourth morning of the match – with Waqas Maqsood (30 off 43).

From Day 2 of Round 6 of QeA

Central Punjab captain Hasan Ali took one wicket from his 13 overs. With an unbeaten 26, Hasan was the only notable contributor with the bat in the first innings on day two.

He should keep working hard. He can be especially handy on Indian pitches later this year in T20s.

Needs to bowl alot of overs to improve his fitness good to see he can stil hit the ball

Has bowled beautifully in this match. The characteristic bound and hustle to the crease which was lost, is back and so is the pace. Kept running in, over after over, all delivered at top pace.

His bouncer spell late in the day to Shezar Mohammad was thrilling to watch.
Great to see him back.

Hope he stays fit and has a good PSL. He can still be a key player in all 3 formats. I think he can be especially useful in the WT20 next year.

He is a better batting option than Faheem

Agreed. Play him at 7 overseas. Shadab at 8.then have 3 frontline bowlers.

For tests I mean.

Hasan Ali
Shadab
Naseem
Shaheen
Gul Sameen or Junaid khan

Balance. Now you have 5 bowlers and depth in batting. Pakistan can beat n.z. with a balanced team.

But ofcourse your management won't listen to me as I am only a nobody.

I have played high level grade cricket so I must be knowing something I suppose.

Junaid khan ? Other than that its good

4/66 and leading from the front to take CP to a win today - well done to him

All his wickets were either bowled or lbw which indicates he was bowling fast and straight and i think that's when he's at his best. Can be a force in Indian conditions

He actually looked really good this match. Accurate, good lines and lengths, and some furious bouncers at times. Kept hitting people with the ball so I wonder if he’s back up on pace.

He certainly looked quick when he was bowling.

Hope he stays healthy now.

Yep, he bowled really quickly. His short ball spells were menacing and that too on a dying pitch.

What was also impressive was the accuracy and the rhythm in his bowling.
The spring and bound to the crease that gave him the rhythm and pace is back.

I think him being short is actually an asset to him when it comes to bowling in Asia. His deliveries don't lose as much pace as a taller bowlers deliveries would. This is important on pitches that are already slow, like in Pakistan and the UAE. That, coupled with his ability to reverse the ball makes him pretty good for Asian pitches. his best test figures did come against NZ in the UAE 2 years ago when he reversed the ball brilliantly.

I think that Hasan Ali needs to maintain his fitness so that his body can become conditioned over a gradual period of time. This is what PCB needed to do with Amir, but they have a golden opportunity to bring a world-class bowler back to his peak fitness. Should ease into cricket, not too many unnecessary games or seasons. Should be back for PSL 6 and hopefully he can make a mark again.

I think he can definitely make a comeback in LO cricket. We should be patient with him as he is coming back from a long term and serious injury. Play him in first class cricket and domestic cricket, then look to ease him back to international cricket.

Looked good in the recently concluded match.

He needs game time and an injury free period where he regain form and confidence.

He has potential to become a very good allrounder as Pakistan needs him badly. As a cricket player, working hard in a gym, is not everything as you need to correct everything in your life and have a balance that can allow you to think clearly so you can pave your own path to success.

Let's hope that he has learnt his lesson.

I still remember him watching in the last CT. I thought he was the real deal. How things change with time.

From what I can see, his ego got the better of him. His injuries did play a part as well, no doubt about it.

I don't really understand this point of view. He was still the fittest player in the team even when he was doing poorly. His work ethic was not the problem.

Junaid Khan is Very good. I don't understand the hate ? Is it cause of his action? Because I believe he was cleared.
I rate Junaid very highly.

I do rate hin highly he was mistreated most of his wickets came on flat wickets but his time has passed he should hsve been backed like amir did but unfortunately he didnt

I expect hassan ali to regain full fitness and stil be part of the team hes got the self belief and confidence to get back in the team.he can stil become a decent bowling all rounder

17 wickets so far in 5* (Match still going on) matches so far at an average of 23. Also a decent 59* and 26* lower down the order in batting.

Needs to carry own the fitness as form.

Hopefully Hassan Ali 2016-17 can be seen again at the top level the boy is very good when he is in full fitness and form.

He may not be done completely but his release height is way too low especially considering he's not a slinger like Malinga. Very little margin for error for such bowlers on flat LOI wickets.

I don't understand this argument. For Hasan his 'top of off' length will just be a little shorter, compared to a taller bowler, but the room for error is still the same. At least that's how I see it. Is this what you mean?

Tall fast bowlers get steeper bounce

I dont think Shami's release is much higher, maybe marginally. Yes shorter bowlers possibly need to be more accurate but, if someone is willing to work hard and has enough game sense to adjust lengths according to the conditions, that bowler should be fine.

From PCB report for Day 1, Round 7 of QeA20:

At the UBL Sports Complex, Hasan Ali continued to impress with his fitness when he inspired bottom-placed Central Punjab to dismiss leaders Northern for 243 in 57 overs.

Hasan Ali, who has missed international cricket this calendar year due to injuries, returned figures of 15-2-48-4 and was well supported by Bilawal Iqbal (three for 91) and Ahmed Safi Abdullah (two for 31).

From his debut in 2016 to world cup 2019 hasan ali bowl 800+ overs in all format .he work lord was not manage which resulted in injuries.

He should be not rushed to international cricket rather than eased in .

Good stuff. However this is 3rd tier domestic cricket and this is what he is supposed to do consistently.

At the moment we have still only seen flashes. There's also been a few times when he's recieved a battering. Still a way to go for this guy but the signs are there.

Hassan ali is changing central season good stuff keep working hard and you will make a come back

Good signs and some light at the end of the tunnel for him.

Needs to put a run of performances together and plenty of overs under his belt.

But also crucial that his workload is managed properly.

I still think that we have not seen the best of him in international cricket so far.

He has immense potential not only with the ball but with the bat as he showed vs Australia in the World Cup.

He was an absolute gem with the ball in the Champions Trophy back in 2017 and fantastic leading up to that too. The injuries have plagued him since but it makes me really happy to see him rediscovering his old touch. Inshallah he'll be back at his best in Pakistani colours in no time!

Could still be an integral part of WC 2021 and 2023, both are in India and we need someone who can bowl well in the middle overs. Hasan is a good reverse swing bowler too. Batting is definitely a plus point.

I saw a stat once(during 2018 Asia Cup maybe )which showed that Hasans average release height in ODIs was higher than only malinga's . Shami was nowhere in that list. There seems to be quite a difference to be honest .

My question is if Malinga can be so successful why can't Hasan? Hasan is also a good yorker and reverse swing bowler. Also has a variety of slower balls. Obviously he's not as good as Malinga but he can be in the future. People focus a bit too much on height.

Thats probably because Shami is an inch or so taller than Hasan. Unlike what many believe, I dont think one inch or so in height makes a big enough difference to allow you to get away with poor lengths. Yes if someone is well over 6ft like 6,2 plus then that height argument comes in. Someone being 5ft9 or someone being 5ft10 doesnt make that huge of a difference that will allow 5ft10 to err a bit but not 5ft9. Someone like Ranada, Cummins, Shaheen, Starc, Ishant, Lakmal etc do get benefit because of their heights being well above 6. Release point of someone being a bit higher and someone being an inch or inch and a half taller when both are under 6 doesnt really mean a difference between world class and ordinary.

Also hassan is a brillant fielder and also decent with the bat

Hasan Ali scored a quick-fire 50* off 33 balls in the ongoing 8th Round fixture between Central Punjab and Balochistan. His entertaining knock consisted of 4 fours and 4 sixes as he accumulated some precious runs for his team after a late collapse in the batting.

Hassan is a must for SA series. A proven performer at the top level Pak think tank must make use of his current form backed by his experience

Got 5-32 in the first innings vs Balochistan and currently 3 wickets in the 2nd innings. Scored a quick fire 50* as well of 33 balls, definitely leading from the front as captain.

But but but...he is finished and success has got to his head.
