forget his bowling, i love this guys confidence. He set his own field and didnt rely on Babar Azam to set his field.

Looks like a cross between Shahid Afridi and Rashid Khan.

Some shocking SAF batting but a terrific first over from Zahid.

The Imad-Shadab spin duo is utterly toothless against good teams, it's about time we tested new spinners.

Should have been done ages ago. The competition alone would have also helped them
 
Looking more forward to the Zahid Mahmood of FC/Tests.

We could finally have a leggie in tests who bowls a very good googly.
 
For once we have introduced a player ready to make a impression at international level. He has first class experience under his belt, set his field up and looks confident.
Obviously a long way to go but he knows what he wants to deliver and in what situations; something our bowlers have lacked over the years.

Which is why I’m feeling a bit meh with his debut. It bothers me more that so many years have been wasted but then again spinners tend to peak around that age.

Wow. Really impressive! Great that he's stepped up becuase we need competition amongst our players
 
Finishes his 4 overs with figures of 3/40. Bowled really well initially, but Miller got on top of him
 
Doesnt look anything great he bowls a bit like afridi Hes not very accurate n is fairly flatish

I ll reserve any further judgement till weve seen him a bit more but qadir looks a much better leggie than him
 
Bowled well and created impact, his 2 wickets in two balls of middle order batsmen was a crucial moment in the game. Was expensive against Miller but then he was dispatching everything today.

A good debut and few areas to improve on but, then again nerves would have been there.

Despite the wickets bowled quite a few poor balls.

But then again that can be said for most our bowlers right now.

Poor line and length is something Waqar must work on !
 
I think there is a conspiracy by some of Yasir Shah friends to keep Zahid out of test side.

To be honest if you see net bowling in Zimbabwe series he looked most treatning bowler , he was only one who beat all batsman in nets others were being played easily.

Shadab hasn't even taken a wicket in national t20 so far if i'm right and Usman Qadir is hit and miss one game takes 4 and other game is taken to the cleaners so he should stay in reserves and Zahid Mehmood is in top 5 wickets taker in national t20 and last year also was in top 3 wicket takers in all 3 formats so Zahid deserves a go in playing 11 ahead of everyone.

37 average in FC is making his debut at 34 years old. Pakistan is an absolute joke.
 
Another stop gap arrangement makes you question the quality of domestic circuit
 
I think test match spin bowling is the area where Pakistan is lacking the most at the moment.
Whatever happens the likes of Zahid, Nauman, Sajid are not long term profiles. I am not very confident of Zahid's bowling even in this series.
 
This guy has a first class average of 37. You’ve got to be kidding me.
Irrespective of how he performs this is absolutely criminal. Cant give away a test cap on personal likes here.
 
Debut him and keep Abrar the young spinner with a dream FC season in the back pocket.

A captain who has so little faith in young talented players must have very little faith in himself too.

Ive seen better spinners in club cricket, why pick a 4 man bowling attack and sole spinner is a garbage pie thrower.
 
Such a pathetic bowler. Must be the only spinner in the world who needs fielders at both third man and fine leg.
 
If a 37 year old averaging in late 30s in FC is the best Pakistan can field then something seriously wrong with the domestics.
 
England have played him like a string.

Brook jumps down twice an over and waits for his half tracker to smash over midwkt.

Pope reverse sweeps him if he's outside off and tickles him fine/dispatches through midwkt if he's slipping even slightly down middle and leg.

Put aside the figures, to be honest they are not terribly bad on a shirtfront against good batters, but worst part is he hasn't been able to ask good questions of batters or develop any plans to try and disrupt batter rhythm. What he delivered today is the kind of bowling one would have expected of a 20 yr old rookie
 
Why is Zahid playing ahead of Abrar ? Has Babar not seen their QEA numbers ?

An investigation must be conducted into why he played. If Babar is found to be committing nepotism, should be stripped of captaincy and fined.

What a garbage bowler and getting annihilated for the terrible bowler he is.

Hilarious to hear to Saqlain justify his selection by talking about the pecking order and how he has been around the squad for a year and therefore, earned a debut over Abrar who just got into the squad. Clearly, that didn't apply with Saud Shakeel when Agha was given the debut over him in the SL series. It's amazing how they can simply make up crap thinking fans are so dumb they will eat it up.

It's truly stunning just how dumb the coaching staff & captain are. It's clear they don't pay any attention to domestic or even bother to look at any stats. Zahid wasn't even playing every match on his own team over Abrar and yet the national teams pulls this stint. Pakistan is, was & will remain a joke as long as brainless former players remain in charge of selection & coaching.
 
As a leg spinner if you don't turn the ball you are toast. We haven't from the awful selection of chachi Naumi and one armed Saj.
 
Saqlain's justification for playing Zahid over Abrar needs to be read to be believed.

Zahid Mahmood's barely good enough for domestic cricket never mind international cricket. It's a joke he was ever selected. No one can be surprised he's looked terrible when he's not even first pick for his domestic team.

Chewing gum whilst bowling looks bad when you are such an awful bowler.
 
A good leg spinner needs variety. Not just a top spinner (or googly) to go with a big leg break but also nowadays to know when to toss up above the eye line to get drift and dip or when to dart it to stop these modern batsmen running down the track. Of course they need age on their side to grow into their role plus at they very least they have to constrict run flow so along with a good bowling partner know how to contain.

When I see Zahid it literally brings tears to the eye. He’s so ordinary, with such an amateur attack and poor field placing that you wonder this can’t be Pakistan. For the first time in years I think the bowling cupboard is completely bare. So many players get hyped but when you see them bowl in a televised match you realise beyond shaheen and Naseem there really isn’t any decent bowler, no mystery spinner.
 
He is a club level bowler who averages 40 in first class cricket.
The most undeserving national cap ever. Sometimes Sindh journalists dont help their cause. Dumb from Saqlain and co.

Abrar from the current squad, and Zafar in the domestic pool would have been picked by any sane team management (including selectors) but our selectors and management have to do mental gymnastics to grab some limelight.
