Decent from Shadab in a high-scoring match where both teams made 200+, seems to be regaining his form in the last few games.

Why wasn't Shadab brought into the attack earlier? What's the logic in bowling him at the death? He's picked up two wickets but the match is all but over now. Strange tactics.

I am not sure of all the Pakistani players who participated in this year of BPL. However, just wanted to take a moment to thank each and everyone of them who participated especially Amir, Shadab Khan, Malik.

Really appreciate the kind words. I hope we see a much stronger cricketing relations between the two countries going forward.

It should be mentioned that the players have pocketed less wages in the BBPL compared to the previous editions and come Friday night at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka, the champion will only have to be satisfied with the trophy while the runners-up will head home empty-handed

Unlike the six previous editions of the Bangladesh Premier League Twenty20, there will be no prize money for the winner and runners-up of the special edition of the Bangabandhu BPL, scheduled to conclude Friday night with the grand finale between Khulna Tigers and Rajshahi Royals.

It should be mentioned that the players have pocketed less wages in the BBPL compared to the previous editions and come Friday night at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka, the champion will only have to be satisfied with the trophy while the runners-up will head home empty-handed.

To add to that, the amount given to the player of the match in the group stage will also remain the same in the final, with the best player set to pocket $500.

The player of the tournament will get $1,000 and a motorbike courtesy TVS company.

It pales in comparison with the previous editions where the player of the final pocketed $2,000 while the player of the tournament received $5,000.

Meanwhile, the champions in the previous editions received Tk2 crores while the runners-up got Tk75 lakhs.

In the previous six editions, the teams were owned by different franchises but the BBPL saw a shift in ownership as Bangladesh Cricket Board managed all the seven sides.

Regarding this issue, BPL co-ordinator Saiful Manab said, “There will be no prize money this time around. All the teams are managed by the board. The sponsors were brought in to cover the expenses. So there will be no prize money."

And we had a guy who was saying that the BPL is equally as big (if not bigger) than the PSL.

"No prizes" for guessing who it was :babar

I am not sure who is the guy but he was absolutely right - for last year. This year you got the chance for your two minutes glory because they changed the operation model and you didn’t bother to go through this thread - should have understood the reason had you read my post in first page, probably post No. 6.

Just to give a comparison, this year highest paid player is Russell, for around $170K. Last year, I came to know that in total Gayle was paid like $350K, Buttler around $300K ... on top of that fringe benefits...... and they had a squad size with almost unlimited foreigners.

The reason they have changed the model isn’t lack of fund, interest or sponsors, rather BCB wanted to hold on the mad rush of BPL expenses, which actually didn’t hurt the revenue stream, therefore net income increased. And, instead of paying foreigners mega bucks for 4-5 weeks, they have moved BPL fund (now all the 7 franchises are owned by BCB, investors are sponsoring teams, but they don’t own the brand - the revenue is credited to BCB account and they are paying all the players/support staffs for 7 teams) to domestic players, which should increase the income of average domestic players by at least two times.

In terms of quality, yes it has gone down definitely, which I don’t mind actually.

Wait I thought private corporations owned the teams rather than BCB?

The coronavirus pandemic, which has caused postponement of many cricketing events, may now force organisers to delay this year’s edition of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

BPL is scheduled to take place later this year.

Bangladesh’s Pakistan tour for an ODI and a Test, home series against Australia for two Tests, home series against New Zealand, away series against Ireland and another away series against Sri Lanka have been postponed due to the pandemic.

Not just international cricket, the domestic cricket has also been hit hard. From mid-March, all cricketing activities in Bangladesh were on hold before several cricketers started individual training just a week before the Eid-ul-Azha.

“England started playing international cricket in close-door venues. At the same time, India is planning to host IPL abroad. But the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) can’t afford to host BPL abroad like India,” Islam Haider Mallick, secretary member of BPL governing council, told the media.

“More than 100 people work for the broadcasting company and many foreign players and umpires also join BPL. So we can’t host this event without the coronavirus situation getting better. We need to think about everybody involved,” he said.

While this year’s BPL is uncertain, BCB is trying to play the series against Sri Lanka in October. Both the boards are discussing the issue after ICC postponed the T20 World Cup which was scheduled to be played in October in Australia.
