Any vinyl collectors/listeners here? If so what's your setup? What do you think? Worth it or a fad?

I have a close friend who is an avid collector. He insists it is worth it and has invested a lot of time and money in his Technics 1210 set up.

I've been using FLAC files via PC>Scarlett 2i4>JBL LSR 305 speakers/Philips Fidelio X2 (Woox). Was intertested in hearing more detail so recently invested in a Technics SL-1210Mk5 + Nagaoka MP-110h. The records sound a little more detailed. Whether it's worth the investment is debatable. Currently waiting on my Schiit Mani preamp for the phonostage to see how the experience is bettered.
My currently library is small (wu tang 36 chambers, illmatic, bowie lets dance, little dragon, weval, stp-core, atcq).
