Has anyone here done LASIK eye surgery? If so, would you recommend it? My eye power is -7, and I can't see much without glasses/lenses. But I think the time has finally come to get it corrected.

I was just wondering if anyone here has done it, and what your experience was, and if you would recommend it.

My brother I did it in Rawalpindi at Amanat Eye Hospital, it’s been a year and it’s the best decision made. My eyesight was not not as bad as yours but it’s worth doing a consultation.

The staff are professional and ensure no risks are taken. From what I remember the Dr studied in the UK, Wolverhampton to be precise.

The first few hours are a bit difficult, but after that it’s not so bad. You might suffer from dry eyes or sensitivity to bright light but it’s normal.

I was back driving within two days in Pakistan.

My dad did laser eye surgeries a few months ago.

If I have to get an eye surgery, I definitely would prefer the laser method.

Thinking to get it done for the last 5 years. But have heard that it makes your cornea thin

I had severe astigmatism in my eyes so used to get headaches and I had it done. My headaches went away, my eyesight was never perfect but good enough. I had it done due to headaches and not because of eyesight.

The biggest side effect is you may need reading glasses as you get older and I need reading glasses (now) and years before I should. Also I have severe dry eyes (I never did before) and if I watch the screen in low light and then go to sleep, I have swollen eyes, didn't use to have it before the surgery.

Over and all, I am happy to not get headaches and I knew that I will need reading glasses quicker.

You don't need it

I had done it in 2004.

It was good till 2016 , after that I had little power , and since then I've been using glasses. But when I had done that I had very high power. So , now even with glasses it is much much better , Thanks to Allah swt.

This year I had a talk with an eye surgeon who did my surgery in 2004 , he said I have a little cataract on one eye , so I will probably do cataract removal next year.

lasik is good , but when you have high power , till 2 - 4 power , no need for power adjustment. In your case you can go with it , but remember after a certain number of years , the power will be 1 - 3 , you will have to accept that.

You will be back to normal work in a day or two.

Thanks for all the feedback, guys! I have a consult with a doctor tomorrow. And if I do it, I might as well do it during a time when Pakistan doesn't have any cricket games on haha

I have friends who are Eye Surgeons and who don't perform these surgeries as a business and their take on it is that get it done if you need it for medical reasons which I did.

This is cosmetic surgery so it depends on your choice but do understand that your consult is with someone who probably does it as a business.

Best of luck.

My number is -5 in both eyes, but I am happy with wearing glasses. I don't think I will take the risk of having laser eye surgery and risk losing my vision.

I recently got back from Pakistan in May, should’ve been earlier if it wasn’t for the Pak-India tensions!

I got FEMTO LASIK done at Amanat Eye Hospital in Rawalpindi. My 2 other siblings and family members got it done from Dr Aamir at Amanat Eye Hospital and he is utterly professional and kind. Really looked after me.

The procedure took about 10 mins. It was a very pain free and relaxing procedure. Post procedure, the eyes did feel a bit sore, especially 2 hours post procedure so you need sabr but it isn’t painful which makes you scream or cry in pain. Just make sure you have someone to look after you.

It’s been 2 months or so since procedure - my eyes do ache on occasions but that’s my own fault, my work means I have to use computer screen for 7/8 hours and then I also use my phone almost 10 hours per day, but apart from that, it’s been a game changer.

Just make sure you limit your screen time to almost zero for at least 2-3 weeks, constantly hydrate your eyes and use Vitamin C daily. Avoid sunlight and tensing your eyes. Get good sleep too.

I recommend it.

Thanks, guys, for sharing your experiences. They were really useful.

I did it 2 days ago, and all went well, thankfully.

My power was -8.5 and -7.5 + astigmatism. Fairly blind. I had my procedure in Singapore. Including prep time, it took about an hour, though the procedure itself was about 30/45 seconds per eye.

The first stage, where they cut a flap in the cornea, hurt a little. There was a bit of pressure that was a bit uncomfortable. But overall it was fine. Then I just had to focus my gaze on a blinking light, and it was over before I knew it.

48 hours later I have 20/20 vision, and it feels surreal. I can see better now than I did even with contact lenses.

I have to keep putting in various types of eye drops every hour (or so) and have to sleep with sunglasses for the next few days so that I avoid rubbing my eyes. My eyes feel a bit dry, but the doctor said that they will feel a lot better in the coming weeks.

Overall (so far) i'm glad that I did it.

Last night before sleeping, I instinctively almost tried to remove my 'contact lenses' before sleeping only to realize that I don't need them any longer lol.

That's good to hear to man. I've heard mostly positive news from people who have done this eye surgery.

Enjoy the UHD Ultra Pro Max+ resolution.
