"Virat Kohli at No. 3 shapes more ODI wins than AB de Villiers" : Daryl Cullinan

Kohli is the greatest cricketer of this era. No one else has his performance, leadership, aura and star power. The rest are midgets in front of him. This is the Kohli era, not the de Villiers, Amla, Sangakkara, Root, Williamson, Smith etc. era.

Smith is on another level in tests, leagues above everyone else. Won an ODI world cup with his batting.

Smith > Kohli

Bilal7 Your desperation is now getting to the point of being silly. Just a few posts back in this thread, this is what you said.

And all of a sudden, this is a choke. You have surely outdone yourself in this Kohli-bashing attempt.

Here, you need this...

:87:

That is exactly why it is a choke, silly. The occasion got to him and he couldn't even score against Lanka. :))

Had this been a chase of any substance whatsoever or, gasp, had Kohli been tasked with setting a total...

1(13), 0(5).

Not in the same tier as Kohli. AND just good at beating the pulp out of poor bowlers in meaningless little bilateral series.

If this happened that would have happened. Ifs ,ifs, and more ifs.

Kohli scored,Amla failed. That's all people will remember. Not these fake scenarios you create in your head.

Kohli actually doesn't look like in a great form here, but he still manages to hang on and help India. Did the same against Pakistan as well. A very good game awareness and he is opposite of AB in this. AB is more talented, but lacks the game awareness at times. Not saying this based on this match alone.

Good knock by Kohli with some of his signature shots.. To win someone has to score the runs even if the target is low..

Kohli is ahead of AB. He is probably the 2nd best pressure player in ODI history after Bevan.

Didn't need today's game to know that Kohli is at a different level to de Villiers and Amla.

The last couple of days have been really nice in this tournament. Really chuffed for this team. We really needed that reality check vs Lanka to produce such a dominant performance against SA.

Virat Kohli has more mental strength than the whole SA team combined. Certainly 10 times more than Amla and De Villiers both put together, absolutely spineless. Only those with obvious agendas will disagree.

AB is more talented than VK but VK has a lot more mental toughness than him.

has that tenacity that all true greats have ... will scrap and scrap hard ... genuine great. Just a sheer joy to watch him batting and it is almost a certainty that he will be there till the end. Just remarkable.

Make that all SA teams in the last 10 yrs or so.

Agreed completely. He wasn't looking fluent at all, but was disciplined enough to stay there and take the team home. Unlikely that other idiot Rohit Sharma -- who threw it way.

Maybe AB's greatest weakness is that he can't yell a concise "NO!!" when his team-mates ask him for a suicide run. He's got talent for days but in high pressure games, his judgement is questionable.

Virat "best since Viv" Kohli's stats in tournament finals: 8 matches, average of 22. 0 50s and 0 100s.

So, its been two instances where he has went completely missing in a big tournament knockout game-

WC 15 vs Australia
CT 17 vs Pakistan

Both of them in chases. As already said, the pressure is at a different level in semis and finals and chasing 320-340 becomes very tough, so there is no surprise even greats find it hard to do what they may be best at.

Fair to say that although Kohli will win more odis than AB because he bats higher but he is yet to win a big tournament for his team just like AB. Even AB has won many bilaterals on his own.

He is yet to do stuffs which will put him in league of Viv, Sachin or Ponting.

In ODI Kohli is nothing and so are ABD,Amla ,I totally understand the anger SA fans feel now towards their superstars.

Overpaid bunch of punks, this filth of a performance and in his mind Kohli lost the match before he started batting.

Dhoni Yuvi or even Dhawan(2013 CT)might never have the stats of Kohli but they are bigger ODI players for me than Kohli!

Not a good record for Kohli in big KO games against strong opposition.

Not to forget 2011 SF and QF vs Pakistan and Australia.

Kohli inspite of his insane drive, work ethic is also human. Looked under pressure today and reflected in his batting.

Back in 2015, it was very hard to understand and believe what Cullinan was saying regarding the future of SA Cricket
