Virat Kohli has single handedly ruined the careers of Dinesh Karthik and Lokesh Rahul. Two in form match winners who should have both got a consistent run at their suites batting positions in respective formats.

However Kohli has knowingly played them intermittently. Haven’t let either settle at any position and then dropped them for failing here and there.

His ego and jealousy it seems is too big for the role given to him.

It is time for India to play hard with Kohli and drop him captaincy so he can come to senses and do his role instead of hurting other players careers.

Sharma and Karthik will be great captaincy chalices for shorter formats.

In test, we can pick Ashwin as captain.

This egomaniac must be put in his place.

Karthik as LOI captain? On what basis? What has he done in his 15 year career?

And how has Kohli destroyed Karthik’s career? Another poor thread.

He's no Dhoni and is turning out to be bit of choker tbh.

I can't see India winning a ICC tournament with someone like him as captain.

Kohli has bit of self centred egoistic feel about him.I remember when Pujara was upstaging him as a test bat he did his best to unsettle him only later when Kohli became secured himself as a test batsman did he let Pujara settle in. Rahul was stealing his thunder a little bit and he is facing the consequences now.

Btw it's not ego, he's not a very astute thinker of the game outside his own batting.

Not a fair comment bhai.

Yes Kohli dropped Pujara for SL series and WI series but later on, allowed him to settle.

Pujara was anything but the best bat in the team after the NZ, Eng and Aus away series flop show, after which he was dropped.

Great minds think alike.

I remember my brother Mamoon prophesizing couple of years ago that’s Kohli will be the Indian captain who will start losing to Pakistan in big matches and last year it happened exactly and maybe again in upcoming year.

Kohli has the numbers but he doesn’t have he personality to win a trophy because he will never create a champion team. He is just busy playing politics and destroying careers.

Btw by great I meant bhaijaan and Mamoon not you. Sorry.

The following 3 players all of whom deserve to be in the Indian LOI teams have no future under Kohli’s captaincy :-

1. Rahul
2. Karthik
3. Pant

Thy are all in the form of their life and match winners if given a run at the right batting positions.

Thank you Kohli for your huye service to Indian Cricket. It seems 2019 is just another formality. Can’t expect to win When the captain tread talent like this.

Kohli is a very poor LOI captain.

That much is certain.
What's happened to his batting? Doesn't seem like the star player and isn't certain to get you over the line like he use to. His ICC knock out record is out there for everyone to see.. he looked like a fool in the CT against Pakistan, out twice in two balls.

Yea rite. Perhaps kohli didn't play bhuvaneshwar and bumrah in previous games because he thot they mite bat better than him. K L Rahul outside few people's limited mind and IPL, has been a fairly average player. The great Dinesh Karthik after 80 odd ODI games has an outstanding average of 30. You can blame bad luck, bad form, bad timing if u get to play 15-20 games but if u average 30 after 80 games then u r an average player.

Did you entirely skip the previously concluded ODI series in South Africa?

LOL... To OP the other day you opened a thread that he is on song to become the greatest captain and now drop as captain :inti

On topic its becoming a norm in subcontinent especially that the best player has to be the captain. I believe it should be who has the better understanding/reading of the game. I believed from day one that he is beast when bat in his hand but on field he is clueless. Today's changes in the team and batting positions are just mind boggling.

He averages like 90+ since 2016 in ODIs.

Was a huge factor in destroying SA 5-1 away.

Hasn't had a lot of chances to chase big scores recently.

While all that's good, his poor tourney records is worrisome. The one super high pressure game he had to play in the last few years, was in the CT final and he looked like a joke there.

Otherwise, Kohli the batsman is doing good.

2019 WC will decide his legacy.

Scored the most runs in a bilateral ODI series by a player (558). 3 out of 6 Man of Match and also the Man of Series.
When I've watched he hasn't scored as often or as much as he use to a few years back. Rohit and Dhawan seem to be the ones scoring the runs while he's got 40-60.

Only really seen him here and during the CT, rest has been through scorecards.

Not sure how much you’ve watched him then. He’s been scoring runs like a machine.

Give the captaincy to Rohit and drop MSD.

Rohit has captained very well for Mumbai Indians. He is a better thinker than Kohli who needs Granpa's help to bail him out of difficult situations.

Kohli should take retirement from international cricket and show all these critics and haters what india team is without him. Absolutely pathetic behaviour, calling him a egomaniac, when he sacrificed his position in t20s for rahul.
Ghar ki murgi daal barabar

I think Rahul was dropped only because Kohli wanted to give opportunity to rest of the players that hasn't played enough in this tour.

Kohli is also testing the bench Strength of the team.

Rahul will be in playing 11 of next ODI series.

I don't see anyone else being captain till 2023 worldcup atleast. Only chance if kohli himself resigns for it (but it's rare). In limited overs he depends on dhoni for captaincy and his selections are most of the time poor.

How about dropping raina who seems to get a free ride for some bizarre reason year after year

Rohit should be India's captain. I think Dhoni is only playing so that he can guide Kohli in the field and as a result he is wasting a spot.

This was Raina's 2nd ODI match after his comeback. He last played in 2015 ODI series vs SA.Dropping Raina after 1 match would've more unfair and it's not like Rahul has set the world on fire in ODIs.

I'm not saying Rahul should've been dropped in this ODI but only giving reasons why Rahul didn't play instead of usual Kohli being jealous, egomaniac crap.

Not in the league of Ganguly and Dhoni. With continuous changes and dropping of players, he will not be a popular leader.

The best person to lead India in ODIs is Rohit sharma. Whether anybody likes it or not. He has IPL success to back it up.

I agree with you Maddy.

Sharma is 2nd greatest ODI batsman in the world after Kohki right now. Its totally feasible for him to lead this team-.

Kohli can't captain. It should be Rohit Sharma. Dhoni to be replaced by a better player.

But Kohli doesn't play politics. That is nonsense. It is his weakness as captain that is perceived as politics.

Rohit sharma has performances, has proven leadership skills and record in a high profile tournament like IPL and has a laid back personality which is needed as a captain. Kohli tries too hard to be technical and all which is counter productive.

Cannot believe at selection.
Dhoni, thakur ,raina , should never be near this team
Bhuvi is also not looking fit.
This team cant win any thing. Dhawan is idiot ,he 90 percent gets out by the stupidest way.

A day ago they were unbeatable according to you. So take out Rahul and Bumrah, and this team goes from unbeatable to 'cant win anything's? :)))

A day ago i said england and india are world two top teams. One team will win and one team will loose and there you have this series result 2-1and if we play in india against them it will be vice versa.
I still believe our selection is worst and kohli is not a captain material.

If he has team selections like this. Then he needs to be sacked.

Sir, why couldn't we defend 256 here? Apart from Bumrah this was our 1st choice bowling attack.

May be our batsman were 44 runs short today and couldn't give our weakest link ie bowling the target to defend?

Would like to have your expert opinion here.

Bumrah would have taken all ten wickets :hasan

If that was the real reason for dropping Rahul then Kohli must not only be fired as captain, he must also be sent out of cricket and made to wash dishes in Sita Ram Diwan Chand's chana bhatura stall for the rest of his life!

You play your best players and not experiment with your bench when you have an important match to win and a series to clinch. Any Delhi gully cricket captain would know that. Kohli and Shastri didn't.

Steve Waugh as captain had immense self belief in his captaincy and his selections but he was wise enough to keep his ears open to alternative points of view.

Kohli is too stubborn as captain and then refuses to own up to mistakes in public.

256 runs on this wicket againist England?

Only once has a team defended a 260 score againist England since WC 2015.

BD at Mirpur.

It does make a huge difference to overall attack if Bumrah is opening the bowling and not Pandya.

BK hardly looked fit. This is his second back injury in 4 months.

Disagree. Kohli needs to cut down on cricket. May be he needs to retire from t20s

This.Dont think he was fit for today. But then we didnt have any other options too.

Well I think India have been experimenting throughout this tour.

Even in T20 decider,Kuldeep didn't play which was completely unexpected.

Kumar didn't play in first 2 ODIs.Although BK is an ordinary bowler in ODIs but still a slightly better option than Kaul or even Yadav.

I think Thakur was also lucky to be picked in place of Yadav today.

Kohli already said in the toss of 1st ODI that he wants to check the bench strength in this series.

I like Kohli's passion but he is tactically nowhere near Dhoni as I have said before. But Dhoni is once in generation captain and India dont have anybody close to him and I dont see any upcoming Indian player with a mind like Dhoni.

Till Shastri is coach I dont think Kohli going anywhere as captain but, replacement options are also limited.

The only options India have other than Kohli is Rohit for ODIs and T20s and Ashwin for Tests.

No player who plays all the formats is good enough to be captain.

Also other than Kohli, Dhawan is the only player who plays all the formats but isnt considered a good leader.

Pakistan team took out England for 211 just last year IIRC.

Btw weak thread, looks like the bhaijaan is back tracking on his comments of humiliating England and now going into meltdown territory with his saffron brothers. I told my friend Varun about this and looks like he has definitely gone for a premeditated hiding.

You cannot put down the poor performance to Kohli. You are blaming him for dropping Rahul, but what exactly has Rahul achieved in ODI cricket so far? Mediocre average of 32. Stop over-hyping him and you will see the light.

This forum is OTT. Despite his own rubbish selections look at his records . They are top in test and ODI rankings. Not many will be better than Dhoni in terms of tactics so we shouldn't expect Kohli to be .

If he selects the team on merit , he'll finish as a great captain. Maybe the best idea is for him to play as a captain and take selection out of his hands like Micheal Clarke did.

Yes, I feel that is one thing which can stop India from winning WC 19 otherwise they have the team.

Kohli is fine as a captain. No need for knee jerk reactions. Just a while back we were praising him for 39 wins in 50 games. Now 39 in 52 and he has become a bad captain?

Barking the wrong tree. The captain is not the problem!

I think Kohli is a very poor tactician. He has the aggressive mentality but he doesn't do the basics right. This bilateral loss mean really nothing but his captaincy can cost India on a bad day like it did in CT2017.

There have been situations where India were favourites but they have lost games due to selection issue and his on-field captaincy.

I won't change the captain though because he has the results going his way afterall. However, it would be disappointing if under Kohli's captaincy, India doesn't win a test series in either of England, Australia, New Zealand or World Cup 2019 because he has the team to win something. He could have won CT 2017 or the test series in SA for that matter.

He has already given you your first ever ODI series victory in South Africa. He is one of the most successful captains out there; leads from the front. The GOAT batsman of the current generation and possibly of all time if he goes on like this. You guys are thankless.

The same "poor" tactics would have been "amazing" tactics had you won today's match. CT 2017 was lost because Pakistan destroyed India in each and every department. Nothing could have saved you lot. Test series in SA was a miss but a close one, closer than you guys have managed in recent times in away tours.

Please have some respect for Kohli. Rahul is a nobody in front of him.

What?

Started off with captaincy, then started talking about how legendary a batsmen he is and then brought Rahul and compared him with Kohli lol.

Indians aren't thankless. Make a thread of who is a better batsmen- Kohli or Smith and the answer is there to be seen. Also, dont recall anyone saying Kohli tactics are amazing when he was winning.

Indian batters would have done well if there wasn't scorecard pressure. 330 is too much in a final and Kohli's on field captaincy was poor that day.

He has a 75% win percentage and averages over 80 as captain, so cut the guy some slack.. Ponting has a 76% win percentage, so he is not doing too badly!

However, I can understand the frustration with his constant urge to tinker. I think he sometimes gets obsessed with bench strength and being flexible... it would certainly benefit KL Rahul to have a good run, and there were some decent batsmen in the IPL who you could try ahead of Raina. I think the reason Raina played is because they are not planning on giving him as many chances in the future as KL, so have patience. They will come.

I think he is actually pretty loyal to his players and tries to do his best by them. Yes, he is a narcissist, but he isn't that bad. Not trying to ruin other player's careers!

Kohli was always a FTB and that's clearly reflecting on his captaincy. Whenever there is some spicy track with something for bowlers this Indian batting crumbles.

Also, we the Pakistani fans, have suffered years of this same ODI over and over again. Only our bowling wasn't this pathetic and our batting sucked even more :misbah

I enjoy reading these Indian-topic threads. Gets more of the Indians out of their shells to talk about unpopular opinions. Plus I'm here, tongue-in-cheek like :ashwin

We'll see how Kohli does vs England in tests. Should be a good series and he has a good record as test captain.

India going down the TTF route. That's the main issue. They'll drop raina and bring in Yuvraj again.

Drop Rohit, (potentially dhawan) and Raina. It's all well and good scoring the odd century here and there but these 3 lack consistency. Also Hardik Pandya has been useless with the ball. Quite a few dilemmas tbh

you Indian fans are over reacting. wait till the very end of the series. I can't picture Kohli not being a captain..and why the heck would a captain be jelous of his players performing better than him with the bat.

The biggest problem with Kohli is not his captaincy, it is his selection. He loses the match even before the game begins. If India do not make some harsh changes in the coming months, I don't see them even making the semis in WC 2019.

Can't blame the captaincy alone. Our batting lineup is mediocre and ageing. We need a major overhaul after the inevitable thrashing after the world cup

India won 9 consecutive ODI series under Kohli’s captaincy before the England series loss.

Don’t think he deserves to be sacked as captain.

Read the post. Defending a 260 total. England batted first in that 211 run innings.

FC's troll threads are not the views of indian fans.

Oh, are they not? In each of his threads starting from humiliating England to how Kohli is jealous of KL Rahul to this thread, i see resounding agreement from majority of indian posters. And not just them but you were the one too who threw his toys out of the pram after Pakistan's victory against Australia and calling Pakistan's number one ranking as fake. At least, the bhaijan sticks to his guns unlike you who back tracks on his own words.

As i revealed yesterday, it has now been confirmed by BCCI that BK has a back injury.

stop this lol. he is averaging 38+ since last 3 years so he is injured since then? your illogical post won't hide the thing that he is pure trundler and one of the worst bowler to play for india in odi cricket.

it's shame because of people like you we can't have a good fast bowler. These guys want trundler who tries to go for less runs against minnows.
