Kohli vs Kane.

Which ton was better?

A reminder:

Kohli came in at 62/4, chasing 350.

NZ needed 217 in 57 overs on a 5th day pitch. Kane Williamson came in at 40/2 and put on a 89 ball hundred, one of the fastest in the 4th innings.

Kohli by a whisker for me; never seen a guy hit a six when on 1 and then a six when on 99.

Kohli's knock was better.

62-4 while chasing 350 and he managed 122.

Incredible on any pitch.

Kohli's innings, a real masterclass, although Williamson's knock was surreal as well.

Did you guys see Bangladesh's bowling and field setting during the NZ run chase? A blind-folded Kohli with his hands tied behind his back would have scored a hundred against that sort of attack. I don't understand the big deal about Williamson's 100. He played well, but that's about it.

Kedhar Jadhav's knock was probably the most outstanding knock He completely took over the partnership with audacious stroke play eclipsing Kohli best part of the partnership.

Kedhar>Williamson>Kohli in terms of those knocks alone. Kohli didn't finish it if not it was defn his to take(great knock under pressure nevertheless).

Why people keep talking about finishing always.I would prefer a player who converts impossible to i am possible and then get out instead a player who wants to see through while expecting others to do the hard work of scoring faster. If kohli sees through till the end who will accelerate? For dhoni others used to do that. He and kedar brought down to run a ball with not many overs remaining. If rest of team cannot do that then stop playing cricket seriously.

A match winning 100 in the 4th innings of a test will always be more valuable than anything else

I think its ridiculous that we want openers and 1 down batsmen to finish every game, what are the rest of the batsmen for then, carrying chai?

We are lucky Kohli finishes so many games, but that is not his role at all

Kohli himself saids that the pitch was flat and thats why india chased it even after falling on 62-4 nevertheless great inngs but i would pick kane because scoring a 89 ball hundred on final day of test was better and it won't happen regularly

He is set a ceiling for himself also if you look at the play he had the stamina and will to go all the way.

Never expected openers to chase anything including Sachin.

Neither did Kedar finish the match , his innings was outstanding , but Virat was the one who made the total even look achievable , he only slowed down a little once he saw Kedar was scoring at a good rate .

Kedar Jadhav played the innings of the week. a 65-ball 100 at number chasing 350+ with team at 65-4! A rare knock notwithstanding the plaid track

Now playing against bangladesh in his home soil considered to be big achievement. If virat scored 200 against bng no one even bother to write it down.

Kane Williamson played more test maches against Zimbabwe a nd bangladesh than combined total of other fab 3 root, kohli and Smith.

I don't get why everything needs to be compared. Why can't we just appreciate both innings for what they were?
