What's new

Wahab Riaz's fastest ever recorded delivery!

He does his job in 75 % of those games.

Not his fault if others choke.

With No Conventional Swing or Seam he will never ever be consistent.

Glad that the Selectors retain the Fastest Bowler of Pakistan in the National Team.

A Good Bowling Coach may help him with a good bowling Plan.

Lol, check his recent record in ODI cricket, he deserves to be dropped. He doesn't own a place in the team, should be kicked out, you just don't retain bowlers on the basis of speed only, this completely exposes the mentality of selectors, bunch of illiterate people. No wonder we are number 9 in ODI cricket.

I didn't watch the whole innings but I saw few overs of his bowling and he was pretty much landing in the red zone quite many times why wasn't he warned and stopped from bowling?

This is really sad. While people are glorifying his pace they have forgotten how his foot landing issues are still the same and he would be stopped from bowling if umpire were not so incompetent. Pace is great to have but we all know Wahab was also the bowler who was taken for 2nd worst figures in history not long ago.

This series is proving really career saving for few players like him and Malik and Nawaz. Better opposition and they would have been danger of playing next series.

They know his Stats are Not very Good. They are aware of it.

They Also know that He is a big match player and he gives his all.

Raw Pace helps you in tight matches plus him pushing the batsman on the backfoot also helps the other bowlers.

No Sir. Most of the times we have similar views but on this I disagree with you.

Wahab is the leader of the attack that means most responsibilty lies on his shoulders but the person other pacers rely upon himself can't control where his back foot, front foot lands or how many times Umpire checks if he has landed in the red zone again and not to forget how many times he is taken to the cleaners with those short stuff that he keeps bowling.

He has Zero intelligence as a bowler. No match awareness. Sets field on the off side and sprays down the legside.

did you check his stats post WC?if I'm not wrong he is averaging about 100 odd?
And he has always been expensive bowler. There has not a year gone by where he didn't finish with 6 odd economy. He has bowled well occasionally like the spell against India in SF and spell against Aus but most of the times he has been an expensive bowler for Pakistan. He has been playing despite awful performances because either we don't have good bowlers or we don't pick them.

How come he is a big match player in ODI cricket? So if a bowler gives it his all, he should be retained on this basis only? Lol.

We all know what happened to his raw pace in England, lol.

We will continue to fail against good sides, if we keep on selecting players on the basis of hype.

not all the times he has proved to be big match player. Don't forget he received 2nd worst bowling figures in a series decider match.

We don't pick them, because for the many years the PCB was obsessed with sixes, and now pace.

You seem to be repeating that in every thread. He did not bowl 10 overs alone in that game, yeah?

why does anyone care how fast hes bowling when its trash that gets thrashed to hte boundary and/or is a no ball?

starc was bowling low to mid 150's and was being bludgeoned by sohail to all parts of the park.

who cares about speed?

people who throw the word 'trundler' around as if it means something

Might as well bowl 10 km slower and bowl a legal delivery which can get a wicket. Pathetic bowling from Wahab.

Simply wasted all that effort. A guy playing international cricket for more than 8 years should know how to mark his run up

Pakistani fans and their obsession with pace. Who cares about pace when you are absolute rubbish? I rather see a bowler bowl a good 136 kph delivery than a terrible 150 kph. Wahab fans have only his pace to cling on to as he is otherwise rubbish.

The most overhyped and useless bowler ever to play for Pakistan. His bouncers are misdirected and useless. He's pace is ineffective as he's brainless. I don't know how come he keeps getting selected. Drop him and play Ali Imran pasha, Ghulam Mudassar or Mohammad Abbass.

Wahab is just not dedicated to the game he just goes through the motions and receive his pay cheque at the end of every match. He has not improved even 1% all these years. We should get rid of such players who have no hunger to play for the country.

He bowled whole spells faster than Starc. He possesses raw talent that can't be coached. What can be coached is discipline so what do PCB pay likes of Azhar Mahmood and Mickey Arthur for ? Nice tours of foreign cities ?

Waqar got the best out of Wahab. He used to call him his son.

He blows hot and cold every time he steps on to a cricket pitch. Both of those extremes are very different from each other, no point steaming in with 150Kph when you can't control it. It's like he's bowling blindfolded.

yes its everyones fault except wahabs. its not that he is rubbish, has always been rubbish. the numbers throughout his career show that, in fact prove it. he is bowling precisely as his numbers have shown - trash. he has never produced results other than once in a blue moon, is not that hes played long enough to know how to stop no balls or work on his consistency, its the fault of the whole support staff, coaching staff and trainers who because of some kind of vendetta have been working on everyone else in the whole set up except wahab.

yep, must be that.

if once in a blue moon results are the kind that excite fan boys here, lets get 11 wahabs and afridis in the side - theres so much 'potential', the consistency we can blame on someone else, and we can ignore the masses of games they lose, and the number of tournaments they get us kicked out of.

I hereby name him Wahab wicket on a no ball Riaz or Wahab WOANB Riaz or simply WOANB Riaz.

Doesn't matter how fast you can bowl if it's gun barrel straight and you are wayward - you will get smashed to all corners, Wahab is the epitome of such a bowler.

This is very harsh bro. You are questioning his ethics and loyalty. Almost every Pakistan fan is frustrated with Wahab's inconsistency but to question his morals and intentions is an over the top reaction.

Sure he has raw talent and speed but he's 32 in the summer and made his test debut almost 7 years ago. He needs to start delivering consistently - Pakistan have invested a lot of time and money in him.

He's bowled well in his last 3 out of 4 matches.

Wahab wasted that spell man. Could've been brutal. Waqar needs to give him a pep talk again like at Brisbane. Someone has to be constantly in his ear.

Is Wahab Riaz a teenager who just picked up the ball? Or someone who has been playing international cricket for better part of a decade?

Mixed feelings about Wahab's recent display.

On the one had, it was so typically Wahab- utter garbage.

On the other, he seemed by far the most threatening bowler on display. The ball tailing in at 150ks or going for the jugular in the second half of the day was top notch.

But of course wickets off no balls, 9 ball overs, running on the pitch, the short and wide garbage in his first spell, all did more than just take the shine off what was on display!

Athletes that are gifted physically but constantly need mental tuning are common in every sport.

Roughing the ball up was done on purpose. The ball stopped moving after 10.

Wahab gets a set Khawaja. Next ball almost gets Handscomb with a 149 kph peach

Wahab is last 10-15 Odi's averages 60+ while Junaid in last 16 Odi's averages 60.60 with the ball.

The thing with Wahab has been that He has always performed his best in ICC tournaments furthermore he has bowled his fastest in terms of average speeds in ICC events but people are missing one thing. What is that ?

Be it be 2011 WC or last champions trophy or WC 2015 one thing was common. Wahab had played little cricket pre-season, he was fresh and he had done 3-4 weeks strength training hence those speeds and efficacy.

If you look at current Wahab than by his standards he is abit over weight, has played alot of Non Stop Cricket in last 18 months including Test Cricket continously and with little or no rest. Wahan is not only in bad form and rhythm but Wahab is Tired and Exhausted

Wahab was not needed in either Tests or Odi's vs West Indies. If he was in plan for CT which he definitely was than at 32 he needed 4 weeks complete Rest followed by hard Fast bowler like training and diet the way Johnson used to train.

At a similar Age Johnson used to play selective Cricket and did focus alot on strength training hence he could bowl those Fast spells in short bursts.

Unlike Johnson Wahab cannot move the ball at all heck he can't even land the ball on its seam completely so we need or needed WC 2015 like Wahab ie Fast.

I hope he up's his game in yet another ICC event but the Preparations are really really poor unlike the Past ICC events.

Wahab hope by mistake you are reading PP. Hope somebody messages or tweets you on twitter. Keep it in mind that your performances in last 2 years have been very poor barring 3-4 Test matches. You need to work on your follow through aswell as fitness in next 5 weeks. Hope we win next Test and than you are rested for the 3rd. You need to revive those 5 kph for Pakistan and yourself aswell. God forbid if you fail than you will be out of the team and it will be on merit. Remember your selection already is based on just your pace and ICC tourneys repute while on current performances you wouldn't have made it so make it count.

Go Wahab Go :)

Go Wahab Go :)

Why are junaid and Wahab in squad if their average is above 60 in last 15 ODi's?

Sort of funny that Pakistan's fastest bowlers; Sami, Wahab and Irfan are aged 37, 32 and 35 respectively.

Haven't had the luxury of watching PSL Live

Caught some highlights on YT.

Not just the moustache but He has improved his fitness. (Lost some weight and put on more lean muscle)

It would only take an Idiot to ignore him for atleast 2 formats.

No sane mind would look at his past 2 years ODI stats. Need to live in present.

These PSL Speed guns are 5 - 7 kph slower than what we witnessed in 2015 WC in Aus and boy 3 years older Wahab is bowling as quick as he did to Watson, Dhoni & Jadega in those WC 2015 matches.

Threatening Fast & Express are the words.

The full toss he bowled to Sarfraz was 149 clicks.

While others I saw were

150.2 , 150.8 & 150.9

Considering PSL speed guns this indeed is serious Pace.

I hope, wish & pray that He remains Fit.

Comeback is around the Corner.

The 150.9 kph delivery on PSL speed gun was nothing short of 155 kph.

Wahab will inspire youth to take up pace bowling with spells as good as these.

Comeback time.

Speed guns are defo slower by 4-5kmph, felt Shaeen was bowling a bit quicker then the guns suggested as well. Riaz is inconsistent but I'd always pick him in my test team when the wicket is dead

Riaz was swinging them at some real good pace, looks like he has motivated himself to play for Pak again.

Perhaps you might have forgotten but let me jog ya all's memory what happened on a dead wicket at Trent bridge.

He is the fastest bowler in Pakistan or subcontinent for that matter .He obviously should feature in t20is.Much better than trundler rumman and usman and few others.

It's the opposite for me. I want him in the test squad but not in the LOs. His raw pace is a very effective weapon in the longest format, especially with a tour of South Africa coming up.

He usually does well in the UAE. Just like he did last time in the tests there. Still does not deserve to be in the ODI squad in my opinion. The WC is in England and we all know what happened the last time he played in the UK.

Let him be useful in Tests and a few T20's. We need Amir, Hasan, Usman and Rumman/Junaid in ODi's.

That's what I am afraid of. Mickey has a soft spot for genuine fast bowlers so he will get him in. Wahab Riaz + ODI's on batting wickets is a sad story.

People suffering from short term memory loss. This is the same guy who bowled a full toss outside off to Steve Smith when he had all three stumps exposed. This is the same guy who in the last Test he played messed up his run-up FIVE times, IN A ROW! This is the same guy who in the last ODI match he played, went for 80+ runs in 8.4 overs. He has the 2nd worst ODI figures of 0-110 which led us to concede the highest ever ODI score, 444. He has let down Pakistan and a few flash-in-the-pan performances do not give him the birth right to be placed in a ODI team that has finally turned a corner. For the love of all that is Pakistan cricket, keep him away.
