This is pathetic.

We're making national legends apologize for cutting a cake.

Rozay ka matlab bhook pyaas nahi, sabr o bardasht hota hai

Really shouldn't need to apologize for this imo.

He was interviewed on TMS the other day and asked “so Waqar what were the celebrations like down at Taunton the year you won the county championship with Glamorgan?”. He diplomatically answered “well it’s ramadan so I probably shouldn’t talk about what went on that night”. Lol.

What's the problem as long as he did it after the cut-off time?

They didn't. That is why many are upset.

To be fair to Waqar it shouldn't be him apologising.

No one should be apologising. It is their right to not fast and to celebrate however they deem fit. Furthermore, they are in England and not some regressive hellhole. Waqar should have taken a stand instead of bowing to these fundamentalist nutjobs.

Pakistan and BJP run India in an eternal quest as to who can be more religiously stupid.

What if you could exercise and not be sweaty
What if religion was about being nice and not petty
Kahin younhi what if main beet na jaye raina

I think waseem bhai does not fast because of diabetes. He shouldn't apologize for that

What people need to understand is that these players grew up in the 70's, 80's, 90's, when PAK was not so religious.

Wasim is diabetic, Waqar is not fasting and even Ramiz had to apologize on his YouTube account for drinking orange juice (claimed it was due to an illness).

What if he is apologising out of guilt, not out of fear of any backlash.

This is what I was thinking, but maybe he has been getting criticism in social media or something, that is what is making people so angry why he apologised. Maybe someone can tell us if this is the case.

To think these guys were borderline enemies during their playing days constantly fighting and trying to one-up eachother and post-retirement they are all lovey dovey and acting as if they are the best of pals

They can do what they like but then shouldn't pretend to be good Muslims.

There was no need to apologise, he should have said, I dont fast and neither does Wasim but they want to keep an image of being good Muslims to the Pakistani public while at the same time not practicisnig the religion.

It's no secret Wasim and Waqar were indugling in drugs and alcholol even while playing at the highest level for Pakistan. Wasim's belly didn't come out nowhere, it was the pints of beer.

PAKISTAN'S cricket tour of the West Indies has been thrown into jeopardy after the arrest of four players, including the captain Wasim Akram and vice-captain Waqar Younis, on drugs charges in Grenada.

Akram, Waqar, Aqib Javed and Mushtaq Ahmed, along with two female tourists and a local man, were arrested on the beach at the team's hotel on Thursday night. They were charged with 'being in possession of a controlled drug'. Police said tests would determine the the drug, but it was thought to be marijuana.

Again, it's their life they can do what they like. ATG cricketers both of them and will be remembered as such but hardly great role models for young kids.

No need to apologise but unfortunately Pakistanis can be very intolerant in such situations. Ramiz Raja had to explain why he was drinking juice in one of his videos. Zainab Abbas has attracted criticism for not dressing modestly enough during Ramazan. After all, this is the country of Gokal Das, the elderly Hindu chap who was beaten up badly two years ago during Ramazan for eating food during fasting hours (https://www.independent.co.uk/news/...erly-hindu-man-beaten-up-eating-a7079316.html)

Maybe they thought Ramzan is about controlling others, instead of practicing self control.

He takes insulin and was talking about his diabetes in the press box at Headingley.

Excellent role models for kids, both of them. Showing kids what can be achieved if you work hard and dream big. In fact, both have already inspired millions of kids around the world, so demonstrably they are good role models.

There are thouands of such sportsmen and women. I would go with the likes of Imran Khan rather than Wasim and Waqar. He was no saint either but has a far better inspirational story which is on going.

They don't have to fast because they're travelling too, right?

Well they are not travelling at the moment, so that condition does not apply to them. That condition is applicable to people who are in a long journey and don't intend to stay in one place for long time.

And what do you think the response would be after such a statement? :))

The Pakistani public and media are not in the business of "live and let live."
