Disclaimer: before I start narrating something that I experienced while growing up in Karachi, I would like to iterate that I am not trying to show any disrespect to any Indian or Pakistani here. As most of the old posters might know, I spent my entire young adulthood in Karachi in a time where Pakistan saw its worst ever conflict and that incidently lead to a loss of nearly 70,000 civilains + military personnel. With that said here are my two cents on why War is one of the worst conceivable 'solutions' to any region based problem whatsoever.
When Pakistan first became the frontline nation to deal with the War against terror in 2002, a young boy living in Karachi or even in any part of Pakistan would've never fathomed on how it may change their perception of the world that we live in, literally and or figuratively. This innocence came crashing down when on an 8th Moharram procession, terrorist groups targetted shia minorities who were doing a peaceful religious demonstration on Shahrah-e-Faisal but in effect exploded a timed detonation device that took the light from the eyes of a child of 8 years old who had nothing to do with either the war or the procession. What I just narrated is a very minuscule isolated incident among hundreds of catastrophies that had befallen my city, my country and my people for nearly 15 horrid years just because we were trust into a war that had nothing to do with the people of Pakistan.
For almost two decades Pakistan has lost lives, resources, loved ones, public figures, army officials in a bid to deal with the evil of Terrorism and war against an enemy which we cannot see which is why when we ask for Peace, we actually mean that in every sense of the word. Being a Karachite there was a time when going out for work or just merely going out basically put a price on one's head because during the conflict with TTP and other war mongering outfits we never knew where the enemy would strike, who they would target and how they would try to take from us our lives which lead to so of calamity that at one point in time that Karachi was burying sons and daugters almost weekly and dying at the hands of such instances became run of the mill.
All this is without even taking into considerations the plight of those innocent people whose homes, businesses and lives were uprooted in Waziristan and the adjourning towns in KPK because we were fighting a war that was unnecessary. The catastrophies up in the North lead to large scale migrations down South which led to an economic imbalance and a shortage of shelter and basic human necessities for a group of people that once were living happily unware that they would simply be drawn away from their rightful birthplace because a war was upon us which we did not want neither was it the solution to any problem whatsoever.
Finally, what we lost the most were those innocent angelic children who left us crying, sobbing and screaming in agony. There wasn't a single mother or father or brother or sister in Pakistan that didn't cry when the APS happened, when our future was taken from us because we were in a war that was unnecessary and brought nothing but tears and pain to the entire country. That is what war looks and feels like in real, it is horrfying, it is ugly and it scars generations who take a lifetime to heal and bury the horrors of what they go through.
I urge all Indians on this Forum and all my Pakistan brethren as well to please work towards a peaceful solution and to please look at the issues concerning both nations from an objective, logical stand point and to PLEASE exercise humanity (even a shred of it) before asking for conflict because starting a war is very easy but the price of war and the descalating from a full blown conflict would be literally be impossible without losing millions of lives. There are no prizes to be won on chest beating and on determining which country has the tougher military because at the end of the day we make choices to better lives of every one around us; what would anyone better if we are not surrounded by the anymore.
Peace.
