Is a run out effective if you are given LBW as ball should be dead?
Another instance of poor game awareness again from Pakistan player.

Shamsi to Mohammad Nawaz, out Lbw!! The partnership has been broken, it's given as LBW, but there was an inside edge on that. Not sure how Nawaz didn't realise it, he was then sauntering down the pitch and was run-out, that perhaps caused the confusion. The rules though states that the ball is dead once the umpire's finger went up, and the direct hit happened only after he was given out on-field. Could he have attempted a review? Was very full and sliding across the left-hander, Nawaz was shaping for the sweep and got an inside edge onto his pads, lack of awareness from Nawaz, plain and simple. Mohammad Nawaz lbw b Shamsi 28(22) [4s-4 6s-1]

First time in this tournament I am livid with Nawaz!

I rate this guy. I want him to do well. Today I am so saddened to see him just run away and not realising the importance of his wicket! He knew he inside edged that…he should have asked the umpire if he is giving him out LBW but he was just too keen to be a nice guy and run away because he had contributed enough with the bat!

He was not out. Inside edge so not Lbw.

Since he was given out, the ball was dead. Hence not run out.

he would still have been out... so no point... becuase they tried to take a single... had there been no runout, yes he would have survived etc, but he was done, actually he didnt waste a review.

No ball was dead when umpire given him LBW out

His dismissal recorded as LBW not Run Out

its the same as when an umpire gives the player lbw, but they discover batsman had edged it, so he is not out for lbw, but the edge carried and was taken by keeper, so he will be caught out... nawaz was going to be found runout had he appealed... alot of time when ump gives a lbw, teams will scamper on for legbyes just in case its not out etc... icc has a knack of changing rules every other day... in my eyes he was out, maybe icc has changed the rule enough here... 🤷*♂️

I thought Pakistan had no review left.

It was a foolish act not to take review

Nawas didn't see umpire given out for lbw, and Ifthikar didn't know he edged that delivery.. Nawas just walk back without looking back after the direct hit .

Nothing to do with game awareness from Nawaz as he did not see the umpire when trying to steal a quick single. If anything his partner should had told him he was given out by umpire. Just bad luck.

Oh now this is down to lack of game awareness and the batter's foolishness and luck. Imagine if this was against India..

Pretty sure there would have been half a dozen more threads on BCCICC and another whole day full of moaning and wailing. :)))

This is a fair point, our fans would've unfortunately even wailed and whined in this match had we not made 185.

What a disaster of a tournament this has been rife with corruption and cheating from the BCCI and now this. What kind of umpiring is this? It's not the player's responsibility to govern the match that's the umpires' job. Why in the year 2022 we're forcing on field umpires to make split second decisions about LBWs when it involves judging bat involvement, ball pitching in line, impact within the stumps, and ball trajectory is so ludicrous one wonders if it's on purpose the sport is administered so incompetently.

That's why game awareness is an important component

If he went review it would have been not out as the umpire gave it out for LBW.

This is the difference between Pakistan, a minnow, and top teams like India, England and Australia. Pakistani players lack cricketing awareness and knowledge. Despite being career cricketers, they do not even know the rules of the game. Even against India, nobody from the Pakistani side knew that you could run on a freest even if you are bowled.
