Was Shadab Khan carrying an injury during the World Cup which he was hiding?

Shadab Khan often gets injured, and he barely manages to play a full series before he pulls out with an injury every now and than.

But what i found interesting is that Shadab played in the Asia Cup and World Cup and never pulled out with an injury even once. He bowled crap, and could it be the reason he bowled crap was that he was unfit and was hiding an injury?

Surprisingly, as soon as Shadab had to go back to Pakistani domestic cricket, he plays 3 t20 games, and got injured again.

To me it seems he was carrying an injury to the world cup and he hid this fact from everyone. If this is true, why is PCB not able to gauge out such players? Or is it the captain who should be more strict with such issues?

He is not a fighter player anymore. In his early career years, he was a fighter. But since he has become the captain of Islamabad United, his game has fallen.

shadab is just rubbish, injury or not.

the real reason for shadab and others decline is that they know they are an automatic pic regardless of performance or not.

If he was carrying a injury then he should have made the captain aware of what is going on but also the coach/captain should have analysed his performance and find out the reason why his performance wasn't up to scratch.

I just heard Kamran Akmal’s interview…

So he admits that the selection committee realised Shadab’s form and performances are poor (so they didn’t want to select him actually)…but then says ‘unfortunately he got injured’, and will play the patrons trophy in 8-9 days to regain his bowling form in 4 day cricket.

So what I recon actually happened: Shadab was dropped but the selection committee are masking it by not bravely saying that he has been dropped due to performances.

You already have one guy captaining a PSL franchise who has no chance of returning as captain of Pakistan…now you have his ex vice also captaining a franchise, he too is useless!

Shadab Khan has been declared fit after undergoing a five-week rehabilitation at the NCA. Now, I believe he will bounce back stronger. I strongly recommend that he starts focusing on domestic red ball cricket.

Glad to see right arm full toss awful bowler back and healthy.... he's been an absolute waste of space on the team for too long

Even after rehabilitation, things are not working for Shadab Khan. Today, playing for Desert Vipers against Gulf Giants in ILT20 2024, he conceded 40 runs in 4 overs and remained wicketless.

Shadab badly needs FC cricket. His skillset is declining & with that, so will the T20 league offers as well.

He needs to fix his priorities.

Instead of playing in the President's Trophy, he is participating in ILT20. This is hilarious.

I don’t get it

Why doesn’t he just openly retire from Test cricket like Hasaranga, Naveen and Klaasen? What’s stopping him from just pursuing the format he wants to play without the expectation of playing 4-5 day cricket?

When’s Pakistan’s next assignment in T20 cricket? I would be shocked if this guy is picked again having lied about playing, giving respect to 4 day cricket

I was more interested in seeing him bowl today over Shaheen.

Looked club level unfortunately. Probably even worse.

No. He's just awful. Period.

Let's not give him the easy way out for his awful performance by suggesting he's carrying a niggle therefore isn't able to perform.

Shaheen has been conning Pakistan for the past 1 years that he is still not match fit despite playing almost all of Pakistan's games.

He has fixed his priorities, that's why he doesn't play red-ball cricket. The goals he's set for himself aren't to become the best leg-spinner in Pakistan's history. His goal is to become a player who gets ridiculous offers for T20 cricket from around the globe, so naturally his actions will be aligned towards that goal.

I've said previously as well that the decline of Pakistan test cricket won't be dictated by its reduction in the number of matches. It will be dictated by the players themselves who refuse to play for Pakistan. The death of Test cricket overall will be dictated by players. They will take Test cricket in the direction they want to.

When someone has a club level mentality he would never become a decent professional cricketer. No doubt our cricket is in decline.

Shadab was not looking fit by any means just like Shaheen. But I guess he has now completed his rehab fully and will be back in action soon. He still is our best bowler in limited over cricket, especially T20.

I don't buy this lack of fitness argument and never did

How can an unfit player commit himself in the field like Shadab did in the World Cup.

He was throwing himself around and taking screamers like the catch of Shubman Gill.

How does he magically become unfit while bowling but is extremely fit and athletic while fielding?

Truth is he hasn't been a good ODI bowler for years. Not since 2019.

Before that, Pakistan played a lot of cricket in the UAE and he has good numbers there.

In recent times, he struggled even in the Netherlands when the Dutch batsmen played him with ridiculous ease.

Lack of skill, that's all there is to it.

Shadab being a poor ODI spinner is a well-established fact. He has no sense of how to take wickets when the batsmen have ample time to get themselves in.

He is a decent T20 spinner because he can try those 100 random variations and the batsmen keep going after him in the middle overs.

Yes, in T20's variations make you unpredictable and harder to lineup.

An economy of 6 RPO is good.

In ODI's you need more consistency and you need to land the ball in good areas time and time again.

Shadab could never do that.

i was his biggest supporter, but its too evident now that he stings
