What a way to rewrite history.
Firstly he was dropped four times and two of the chances were half chances which would
be classified as screamers.
The match was definitely not won. He was actually the difference that he got a century in second innings whereas the second highest Australian score then was 31.
Of course I don't remember all the misses and not bothered to check, my point being he was dropped many times and plumb LBW not given. It was not a quality knock, am not saying because I have any grudge, I would say the same for Sachin's Mohali 85 as well. Match was already won after we were bowled out for 100 odd, a 1st innings lead of 160-170 was matchwinning on that rank turner. Had Australia been dismissed for 60 runs in 3rd innings they would still have won comfortably. You can't chase 120 runs in 4th dig on such pitches, less than their 1st innings lead.
This series was obviously more dominant but those were alien conditions and Pune in particular was as much as a rank turner as you will ever get. Warne called it a day 8 pitch on the first day
Pune was a toughie, but they secured the win based on 1st innings difference, their openers and Starc's late blows made a bigger impact.
Second test in Bangalore was another tough wicket and Smith failed.
Ranchi was a flat pancake, Pujara got a 200 and someone as mediocre as Saha scored a 100.
Dharamsala pitch isn't a traditional Indian one because of geography and soil, it has high clay content which means more bounce (like in tennis but that is loose clay, so less speed). It was modeled after Aussie wickets, more clay also means pitch won't break up, clay absorbs moisture when watered and that holds the surface. Watch any match in Dharamsala and see for yourself, it is an Aussie pitch with Indian surroundings, sometimes English weather

. Smith scored a 100 there on day 1, well and good but I fail to see what demons he conquered.
Smith scored runs in India agree, but impact was less. Pune 1st innings, Bangalore, Ranchi 3rd innings when they were trying to save the match, Dharamsala 3rd innings, he failed whenever his team needed him most. That was a great series for him, but this Ashes has been a legendary one.
