Kapil Dev on TV after Pakistan's semi-final victory:

Despite no international cricket being played in Pakistan and also lack of big opportunities for youngsters, Pakistan still continue to produce good pace-men

Victory in the Semi-Final will have a great effect on the morale in Pakistan
Its no fault of the youngsters about the situation but this victory will become a motivation for them

I really enjoyed the cricket Pakistan played against England and also how new fast bowlers have come in and performed so well

This is not something which is happening from today, you can go back many years when we had likes of Imran Khan and before him Sarfraz Nawaz and Fazal Mahmood before that

Wasim Akram was my all time-great fast-bowler and then you had Waqar Younis also

They say in India, every street has an off-spinner or batsman sitting around to be picked up, well it’s the same in Pakistan where good fast-bowlers are just sitting around saying call me when you need me to play for the country

Kapil is the most likable Indian cricketer as a Pakistani fan.

THE man who was responsible for cricket's firm establishment as sport#1 in India. I always, like all Indians, owe our respect and pride in cricket to him, along with other Indian great sports' role models.

A good fast bowling spell will always be better than a batting performance in a run-fest.

And regarding Wasim, he is the Sultan of bowling.

I'm sure both had 'other things' in common than only fast bowling ;)

Btw why so many of past digging headlines these days? Everyone keeps talking about old players and their achievements and how great we used to be. 'Waqar was so quick in his days' 'Javed was streetfighter'

Don't see any Aussies or English bragging about Steve Waugh, Taylor or J.Emburey. Get on with it!

Kapil was the complete all rounder India produced. Great stamina, injury free right through his career, Aggressive batting, fantastic fielding. Probably better than his contempoaries. HE and Alan border were famous for their bulls eye throw. Kapil could literally field anywhere on the ground.

I saw one interview of wasim akram, he said that when young he never missed a single chance to meet kapil dev for some tips because it does not makes you a lesser person to admire other's greatness. He also said that now a days young bowlers lack this type of thinking, "we are here to help but you will have to come to us rather than we aproaching you to help you"
