Watching Pakistan bat in a Test match is better than taking a sleeping pill

Tried to watch Pakistan bat today. At times the run rate was down 1.5 with 1 or 2 wickets gone. With wickets in hand, just fail to see why the set experienced batsmen were being so cautious as if they were facing the Windies of yesteryear with Marshall, Holding, Garner, Ambrose etc. bowling. I struggle to watch it without dozing off. The whole stadium was empty. Is this good for Test Cricket? What has happened to Pakistan's batting ? Is Misbah the culprit for making everyone play tuk tuk....I used to love watching Test Cricket but this is painful. I rather have them get out for 81 than play like this and save us the agony.

IPL is going on. You should watch that instead.

As much as I hate to admit, I am watching IPL instead. Used to think of T20 as *******ization of Cricket but coming around to see why this is the only format that can withstand the test of time and keep cricket relevant in the future. And to imagine we are or were supposedly the No.1 Test team in the world.

It is Test Cricket not one dayers. I think the boys only want to bat once in the match hence the slow run rate.

Haha yea I was watching IPL too to see Ishan Kishan bat. Then I switched back to WI vs PAK where Azhar was hitting short and wide deliveries straight to cover. Good thing we at least got to #1 before the end of Test cricket. Hopefully we can get series wins in all away countries too. That's the only feat we haven't accomplished in the longest format.

Test cricket is been boring for a while now except for few matches here and there

I know its Test Cricket but no one one plays this slow, no one...

Also, if they want to bat once than wouldn't it be better to pile runs and have more days to get the Windies out.

Windies are a pathetic Test team so yeah, good for record books but in reality, winning this series will serve no real purpose. Just shows how scared and defensive minded we are.

In that case we should not have bothered going there if winning means nothing.

I agree, useless series. All good Windies players are playing IPL anyways, if our players were allowed, they would have been there too. Total waste of time this series.

Pakistan batting in test cricket is really bad advert for the survival of test cricket. They just bore the opposition, there is no intent to score runs but mere defense. Shan Masoods dismissal yesterday was classic example there was no rotation of strike for almost 5 overs which ultimately lead to his downfall where the same bowler bowled 16 consecutive deliveries to him without a run and finally he snicked one.

This patch was a classic reflection of lack of intent and having no clue on how to go through difficult periods. There has to be a balance between defense and attack unfortunately for Pak there is no 2nd gear. The mind set has to be more positive especially once you have blunted the new ball yet we continue with the same defensive game throughout the day till a collapse occurs. This is what happened in 2nd test where we failed to seize the initiative in the first innings and finally collapsed to lose the test.

Although its fine for the format but overall Pakistan has been one of the least attractive batting line-ups since last decade or so. Anwar, Inzy, Yousuf (when he was still Youhana) were good to the eye and artistic.
