Akram was full of praise for the left-arm Afridi, who will be seen in action for Pakistan U-19, at the upcoming U-19 World Cup in New Zealand. “He is a left arm bowler, he is tall and he remembers me of my youth, as his bowling action is also identical, coming in sideways, extract bounce,” stated Akram.

The legend advised Afridi and fellow young quick Musa Khan to pitch up the deliveries in New Zealand, as the conditions Down Under favors swing.

“I alongside Waqar, have taken a lot of wickets in New Zealand, and our secret of success was that we used to pitch up the deliveries, as the weather and pitches allows the balls to swing, and you have more chances to claim wickets,” said Akram.

Akram further advised the youngsters to forget the past and focus on the upcoming tournament. “I am optimistic that the Pakistan U-19 would perform well, as always,” he said.

Earlier, the U-19 cricket team suffered a humiliating loss, when cricket minnows the Afghanistan U-19 beat them by 185 runs at the final of U-19 Asia Cup, last month.

Meanwhile, the Under-19 Cricket World Cup would commence on January 13th in New Zealand.

I could write a book mentioning the amount of times a left armer has reminded Wasim of himself

Just goes to show you how huge an impact Wasim has had on your youth.. Pakistan is probably the only country where there are more left hand fast bowlers than right hand... and all the credit goes to Wasim for inspiring the kids..

I think from all the left arm pacers, Starc is the only one who could have been compared to Wasim as a prospect.

And even Starc has only turned out half as good.

Amir Junaid starc and now this kid

this old man has some serious issue

in every talented leftie he sees himself

I'm a huge fan of Wasim bhai since 90s, but I must say he sees a bit of himself in just about every left armer.

Jeez, he just said Shaheen's sideways action is similar to his. What's so wrong about that? Do people even the article before commenting?

He just said the bowlers action reminds him of his own bowling action. ANyone can watch anything on this planet and remember some event connected to his own life. It's natural.

He didnt say the bowler will go on to become an all time great bowler and win the world cup for Pakistan.

Why are people getting annoyed?

just click on the next article....lol... Akrma has to say something everytime a reports asks. He might most probably be running out of things to say.

To be fair, Akram has a habit of hyping players.

Every single Pakistani fielder has been described as the "best fielder in the Pakistani side" by Waz. Sometimes in the same match. :))

This obsession with winning the U19 trophy is not good. The kids should concentrate more on learning at this phase.

Inspired Zaheer Khan as well and many lefties around the world
