lol. oh come on.
We haven't heard his side of the story yet. I rather not be someone who swears his head off and calls Rooney every name under the sun without at least knowing why he doesn't want to return.

GA GG is not there anymore is he?Terry Christian was the best wind up merchant on talksport.Loved every minute of his shows.
Thanks for that GA.I don't tune in talksport on weekend nights with Stephen Nolan on 5live at the same time and didn't know he was.back.
As for Terry he was on talksport couple of years ago doing sat evenings.Knew him through a local station.big Utd fan and a smashing fella.
Fair enough, but from what was revealed today it seems his mind was made up before his off-field antics were exposed anyway.
This is just pathetic.
First sign of trouble and he wants to leave.![]()
I heard it was 500 grans a week - they'll be shipping them in from all over the place.is true he has been offer 50 grans a week more by city
I am leaning towards changing my avatar picture.
I have always considered Rooney as a player that gives it his all on the field. A man who would never give up on the team and would keep fighting for Manchester United. A man I termed as my favorite footballer in the world.
do you believe in santa claus too...
BUT there is no reason he should not still be your favourite footballer
I think i'll just stick with Ryan Giggs.
Now that's a loyal guy and a brilliant player to boot for the past 20 years or so.
you have to hand it to giggs to be fair
he has lived his life away from the headlines and the glare
unlike the croxteth chav
I cant see him settling abroad - guy struggles with English, how the hell would he cope with Italian or Spanish?
Man City? You would go there to make money, not win the Premiership or Champions League.
Leaves London clubs - Arsenal? Not good enough. Chelsea? Their day of spending like Man City appear to be over. Spurs? 'appy 'arry will buy/sell anyone!
Liverpool? Great, I get to jeer Rooney when Liverpool play Cardiff in the Championship next season
I think his and Man U's options are limited.
My verdict: He'll go to Man City

Was interesting listening to the Sky pundits on SSN after today's champions league matches talking about the Rooney issue.
All were absolutely shocked by the news- they too thought Rooney was a cert to see out the rest of his career at MUFC. They all also agreed that wherever he moves, it will be a step down from Manchester United.
Paul Merson was adamant that Rooney has been "tapped up", he said how can the main man at Manchester United, the world's biggest football club (in his words) turn up one day and say he wants to leave without already having his next move lined up.
That's cos they are not
Wayne rooney can go to city or anywhere else.People are too quick to predict Utd,s demise but forget few facts.
When Roman came at chelsea and signed every top player available.Even hijacked Robben and Ballaks proposed moves to OT.We didn't even come close to winning the league for three seasons.Made early exits from CL and people were doubting the great man.
What happens next we power our way to league title with most signings at relatively cheap price.Players like Ronaldo Evra Vidic Carrick and Saha weren't big money signings in a climate where chelsea were paying 25m for anyone who could kick a football.Keeper was bought from fulham.Roman sacks Mourinho and we dominate again.
You can celebrate now but Fergie will have the last laugh.Wayne had one great season when valencia and Berbaclass were creating goal scoring chances left right and centre.Apart from that he has been hit n miss.
Forbes says hello.
Ironically Rooney has injured his ankle in training. The tackler? Paul Ginger Ninja Scholes. I hope we sign his doppleganger from Newcastle, I am gonna miss seeing a ginger face in our squad![]()

Real Madrid and Barcelona say goodbye
As for the ginger? I dont think we have a ginger (well not in the first team)
Don't play stupid with me, you know who I am talking about. Hand him over and no one gets hurt...
(That kid that got the pic with Sir Bobby Charlton - the Scholes doppleganger. There is only one Scholes doppleganger! Well two if you count McShane)
Tom Hicks says wheres my $800million
Poor United fans?Poor United fans, don't think they ever treated any of their players ill. Tevez, Rooney and Ronaldo but in last 3 years, all have kicked us in the teeth.
You would have said the same abaout Chelsea in 2003.Man City? You would go there to make money, not win the Premiership or Champions League.
Ah yes, the Forbes list of clubs from a financial perspective. Using this as an example is effectively similar in saying that Yaya Toure is a better midfielder than Michael Essien, because he takes home more money each week. All Forbes does is show who has the best marketing strategies over recent years, not who is the biggest club (although it depends on how you define biggest club).Forbes says hello
Manchester United for life..

Poor United fans? You're having a laugh. Try being a fan of a club like Leeds United who have had to suffer 2 relegations thanks to financial mismanagement. Try being a fan of Sheffield Wednesday or Man City, who also suffered relegation from the Premiership to the 3rd division, despite having a proud history in the top flight. Your best player wants to leave? Boo hoo. It happens to all clubs.
Also, how can you even mention Tevez and criticise him for leaving? He wanted to remain at Old Trafford but your manager didn't want/couldn't afford him. If it was down to Tevez he'd still be playing for the red side of Manchester. Fortune seems to have smiled on him though.
No United fan denied Tevez leaving. He had a right too. But he didn't need to act like such a big prat trying to turn our own manager against us. And then his antics just continued. He is just a boy in a mans body. Look at Ronaldo and how much respects he gives to United despite leaving.
I think it was SAF that tried to turn Tevez against the club. He was the one that declared Tevez was not worth the price he paid for Berbatov.
Nothing to do with the NOTW sting bhai.Looks to me that Rooney will leave...the NOTW sting has screwed with his life
Nothing to do with the NOTW sting bhai.
Rooney gave in his transfer request on 14th August.
Its all about money.
I wonder what united fans`ll make of him should he decide to play for citeh.....
Both Mancini and Mourinho have stated that think Rooney will stay at United ... are they trying to use reverse psychology or something ... or maybe they don't really want or need Rooney ?
It is one of two things I guess for Rooney - either he is sick of the country and wants to go abroad (hardly blame him)
Fergie's not a clown (despite the red nose) and he knows after letting Ronaldo go he wouldn't be blamed too much for that due to the ridiculous feed Real paid and they couldn't really turn it down. He can be partly blamed for letting Tevez go and despite United fans booing him when he went back there, he's been in **** hot from with something like 23 goals in his last 28 games.
If he then let Rooney go, their fans would kick up a stink so he's let them know who is behind it all and who to vent at.
United fans would never turn on SAF, if anyone - they will target Glazers and have begun too.
Now with Rooney confirming it is because of the squad, the Glazers are now even more untenable with the fans. No fan believes SAF does not want to build a good side, so it must be the lack of money.
Very disappointed in Rooney. Its been one season (in which we finished 2nd!). I think Alan Green or Hansen said it but if the squad isn't good...Rooney owes it to the team to stay and make it better. Its not like we have gone on some long trophy drought and it looks impossible in the future. What does he expect? Some sort of sugar daddy spending like City/Chelsea? Really insecure by him not to have faith in the team just cause our neighbours have a squad of 40.
I think it may also just be a cover-up to go to a club that will pay him more. We won't know until he leaves and see if he accepts a contract of similar nature.
Exactly, by blaming the squad and lack of signings I feel perhaps Rooney's taken the easy way out, it comes across as a convenient excuse to use.
The facts are that we are currently in the rebuilding phase. Same thing happened around 2004/2005, we had a successful team then it was broken up with the departure of the likes of Roy Keane. Fergie took a couple of years to rebuild (during which Chelsea dominated) and then he produced a team which won the league three times on the bounce and also won the Champions League.
That successful team was again broken up with Ronaldo and Tevez leaving, and the next great team was to be centred around Rooney as the main man. But it takes a bit of time to build a team, you cannot win the league or Champions League every season (and it's not like we're not competitive in every tournament we're involved in anyway).
I just don't buy the stories about having no money to spend, under the Glazers we've splashed out over £30m on Berbatov and over £15m each on Valencia, Carrick, Anderson, Nani and Hargreaves (to name just some examples). I honestly can't see any reason apart from money as being Rooney's motive.
And he was right too. For any objective (keyword) football fan that saw Tevez that season he was horrible. He was given more than enough chances when Rooney got injured and could not cement his place in the team. Its great his form for City turned out but it did not turn out that 2nd season for United and unfortunately we could not splash another 30M on just a hunch.
Furthermore, Tevez is a boy. He is very immature in how he behaves. With United fans, with SAF ("Oh I didn't feel loved" - are you a child?) and now at City he is acting out at Mancini. Once a month he issues a quote like "I don't love football, why am I here?"
Am I the only one here that thinks Tevez has shown he is worth every penny of the 30M paid by Manchester City. Also Tevez wanted to stay at United so they could have got him for 25m or so had they really tried. My point is if you have 30m to spend on decent players like Berbatov then surely you have that much to spend on Tevez. Heck 18m on Anderson says a lot about your spending power.
As for his quotes well he is Argentinean and a Latino so he will come up with stuff like that. If he scores and performs day in day out he can say anything he wants as long as it's not out of line.
Another thing I'll mention is that had Tevez been giving the responsibility to guide this club post Ronaldo I think he would have done better than Rooney has. Or even post-Rooney, Tevez could have been the man because we all know the likes of Hernandez, Berba, Carrick, Fletcher really don't have the heart. Right now Nani is the only one that could be the man of the club but he just doesn't fall in the same bracket as Ronaldo, Rooney, or Tevez.

who could question the transfer fee of Tevez? He has an incredible scoring record for Man City and is at the heart of one of the best teams in England, involved in everything. he is arguably the best player in the league at the moment.
How come? Oxy or someone on this thread said it correctly, if you are going to lap up the media when all is good (They got paid 5 million for their wedding!), then you have to take good with the bad. Your in the limelight cause of oyur football so when you don't perform to standards (IE World Cup) you deserve some criticism!

That is not true - they were turning against him during the Chelsea winning period, quite a large number of them too - I remember commenting at the time how ridiculous they were being BUT Fergie obviously turned things round and they soon "accepted" him again
Lol. Correction. One great season and you think he's Pele.Wayne Rooney when you win three Prem titles one CL an FA cup and two league cup at another club we will believe you are leaving to win things. One great season and thinks he is Pele.
Word is that his wife wanted to move to Spain or Italy.

At the time Utd didnt lose out and like Rooney he was all about the money...
The season Berbatov came Tevez was awful...and even then he was offered a contract, a contract which he turned down...
Sir Alex was in rousing mood on Wednesday night as he collects his thoughts following one of the more dramatic, and disappointing, weeks in his time as United boss. Here's the transcript of his post-match press conference...
"To maintain the success at any football club is not a certainty, i.e. I always believe a four-year cycle is probably the most you can achieve in terms of success. Very few teams can create more than that four-year cycle. Last season we almost did it, we were one point short of winning the league for a record fourth time.
"We realised that to maintain that high consistency of being there challenging we had to inject youth into the club and we’ve been doing it for the last three or four years. We realised some years ago that Giggs, Scholes and Neville were never going to last forever and our policy is therefore to develop players within the club. We had a player that once said to me Rooney and Ronaldo weren’t good enough. Can you believe that? He actually said they weren’t good enough and he wasn’t prepared to wait until they were. That’s what happens, that’s the problem with potential – people don’t identify potential, they’re very poor at it. I’ve identified it all my life within young people – I know potential, I know how it can be developed and I know how to have faith in it - young people surprise you when you give them an opportunity. And that’s what this club is about. So when you see Manchester United at the moment with all these young players, you can’t see Manchester United three years ahead because you’re not thinking about that.
"We will invest in players when the time is ready. This summer wasn’t the right time as far as I was concerned; there was no value for me. There was one player who we would have liked to have got but he chose another club. I don’t think he ever wanted to come to England anyway. Some players don’t want to leave their country, it’s a fact of life, some players are happy in their own country. Some players are happy to leave and Manchester United is always a big attraction for any player. If they don’t want to leave their country then we forget about it.
"In terms of the future of Manchester United there are a lot of things in my favour – history, the respect we have from people – if I told you how many agents phone my secretary every week about players who would love to play for us - and I don’t just mean run of the mill players, I’m talking about players at almost every club in the world - it would amaze you. It’s because this club still has that fantastic romance and respect from everyone.
"Sometimes you look in a field and you see a cow and you think it’s a better cow than the one you’ve got in your own field. It’s a fact. But it never really works out that way. It’s probably the same cow which is only as good as your own cow. We have to deal with that – some players like to think that it’s a better world somewhere else, it never really works like that.
"As I said, three Premier League titles in a row is fantastic and we were within one point of a record fourth. It didn’t happen for us and we didn’t like that and we want to do something about it. We’ll be okay – I’ve got every confidence in that. We have a structure at the club which is good, we have the right staff, the right manager, the right chief executive, he’s a brilliant man. There’s nothing wrong with Manchester United, not a thing wrong with it. So we’ll carry on."
Retrospectively Tevez has shown he is worth £30m, however when he was at Manchester United he just didn't have the same games to goal ratio IIRC (although that may in part be down to the fact that he wasn't a regular with the likes of Ronaldo and Rooney in the team and then with Berbatov arriving).
The season Berbatov came Tevez was awful...and even then he was offered a contract, a contract which he turned down...
