"We are trying to keep domestic performers like Fawad Alam and Tabish Khan in the picture" : M Wasim

Northern Head Coach (and member of selection committee) Mohammad Wasim at a press conference:

"Australia isn't an easy place to visit for any team to tour. We are disappointed and expected better performances. But to judge our cricket on the basis of this tour is unfair. There were some inexperienced cricketers so we have to give them time"

"We should have some options available for captaincy. The Pakistan team recently has been forced to make players captains. From domestic cricket, we have to bring a system where we have options for captaincy with players having experience of this in domestic cricket"

"The Pakistan team didn't have many options in terms of experienced bowlers. We don't have a long line of fast-bowlers, we didn't have any obvious options who would have gone there and done well. We could have gone back to seniors or picked youngsters. Our thinking was to give chances to youngsters"

"The aim wasn't to play youngsters in Australia and then drop them, they will get proper chances and they are Pakistan's future"

"The batsmen also had performances but we will have to look at things once again when the tour concludes"

"Azhar Ali's form is a concern no doubt. Some of the batsmen's shot selection will also be discussed"

"You can't judge a management after 1.5 series. You need to give them chances, you can't pass judgement so quickly. It's a difficult time for Pakistan cricket, we don't have backup ready for the Pakistan team. We don't have backup pacers, spinners and the batting is also struggling"

"Yasir Shah's bowling is a bigger concern for me than his batting. He batted well, good that he made a hundred but his job is to take wickets and his form in bowling isn't so good. He needs to bowl well. He made a hundred but you can't compare with batsmen because there's a different pressure. The expectations aren't there with lower order batsmen so the pressure is removed. His focus should be on his bowling, he's one of the most senior bowlers in the team but he's struggling, as are the pacers. But Yasir has been the leading bowler in the past, he's struggling now"

"We will review the performances on the Australia tour. We are trying to keep domestic performers in the picture, like Fawad Alam, Tabish Khan and some other players and they will be considered. We will discuss about them and when Misbah comes, these things will be brought up"

So fawad is pretty much confirmed
If he fails, he'll look like a proper joker

Hope this isn't true but Misbah probably feels he's now old enough to merit a place in the team. :yk

Fawad yes,

Tabish no. I think he is past his best now. He should have been picked a while ago on merit but not sure he is the same bowler. Recently averaged like 40 in the domestic tournament if I am not wrong.

Tabish Khan is averaging 40 QAE 19 and is 34 years old, to be honest not sure about the point of considering him. Yes obviously he has a lot of experience and might hit better lengths than few young bowlers but he doesnt have a lot of future.

Ehsan Adil or Sameen Gul have enough FC experience under their belts and have age on their side so they should be the preferred options in my opinion.

yes he averaged 40. you know which pace bowler had the best average this FC season? Tabish Khan, do you know the average of the pace bowler with best average after Khan? Sohail Khan with 39 with less matches, but Sohail khan is almost 37 years old

Ehsan Adil FC record this season
8 Matches, 14 Wickets, Ave: 31, SR: 70

Sameen Gul FC Record this season
3 Matches, 7 Wickets, Ave: 26, SR: 49

it seems they are focusing on Tabish because he is a workhorse bowler like Abbas, he has bowled more than 1800 balls this season, 3x as much as Ehsan Adil and Gul.

So either a pick 16 yr old or a 34 yr old pacers mid 20' s Pacers are taboo in Pakistan

Tabish what has he done?...he is well past it no need to look backwards...only two pacers are needed at home...its quality spinners and we dont have any mystery ones

Why Tabish Khan? Why not Sadaf Hussain? Mohammad Wasim is just your typical Pakistani in-charge.

It’s unfair to get someone to hit the ground running from match one not everyone gets runs in every match they play. Give the guy something everyone needs which is time. I’m sure he’ll do well seeing as he’s done fine against SL in the past and he’s in hot form in the ongoing QeA tournament.

Nothing is confirmed in Pakistan cricket until it happens
